Tessa Blanchard’s MLW Future In Question After Signing Announcement Disappears, Removed From MLW Roster Page

Tessa Blanchard’s recently announced move to Major League Wrestling may not be as certain as it appeared just days ago.

Questions regarding Blanchard’s status with the promotion surfaced after MLW quietly removed references to her signing from its official website. The development comes shortly after the company announced that the former TNA World Champion would make her MLW debut at Fightland 2026 on September 12.

The sudden disappearance of the announcement has led to speculation about whether Blanchard’s relationship with the promotion has changed behind the scenes.

Adding another layer of uncertainty to the situation, CMLL recently clarified that Blanchard’s involvement with MLW was only intended to be a one-time appearance. According to the Mexican promotion, there is currently no broader agreement involving Blanchard, MLW, and CMLL beyond the previously announced Fightland date.

Further fueling questions is the fact that Blanchard was reportedly never added to the official Fightland lineup despite the initial announcement of her appearance. It remains unclear whether the event page simply was not updated or if plans changed after the signing news became public.

The situation is particularly noteworthy because Blanchard recently spoke publicly about her future, describing MLW as her “second home” while emphasizing that CMLL remains her primary wrestling destination.

At this point, neither MLW nor Blanchard has commented on the removal of the announcement or her disappearance from the company’s online roster page.

Until either side addresses the situation, the status of Blanchard’s planned MLW debut remains uncertain, leaving fans waiting for clarification just days before Fightland is scheduled to take place.

Former AEW Star “The Butcher” Andy Williams Passes Away At Age 48

The wrestling and music worlds are mourning the reported loss of Andy Williams, known to AEW fans as The Butcher, who has died at the age of 48.

According to TMZ, Williams suffered a medical emergency following a match at an Enjoy Wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Williams was teaming with longtime tag team partner Braxton Sutter, known to wrestling fans as The Blade, when he reportedly collapsed after the bout.

Medical personnel immediately attended to Williams and performed CPR before he was transported from the venue by ambulance. The remainder of the event was canceled, and fans were asked to leave the building. Details regarding the medical emergency have not been publicly disclosed.

Before becoming known to wrestling audiences around the world, Williams built a successful career in music. His original aspirations of becoming a professional wrestler were delayed after a knee injury during training. That setback ultimately led him to help form the metalcore band Every Time I Die in 1998, where he served as bassist and became a prominent figure in the heavy music scene.

Williams eventually returned to his wrestling ambitions in the 2010s, training under former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett. His connection with Barnett led to appearances at Bloodsport events, where his hard-hitting style quickly gained attention.

In 2017, Williams teamed with Braxton Sutter to form The Butcher & The Blade, a pairing that became a regular fixture on the independent wrestling circuit. Alongside Sutter’s wife Allie, known as The Bunny, the trio developed a unique presentation that helped them stand out wherever they performed.

The group made its surprise debut in All Elite Wrestling in November 2019 and soon became a recognizable part of the company’s tag team division. During their AEW run, The Butcher & The Blade shared the ring with many of the promotion’s top teams and were involved in rivalries with acts including The Lucha Bros.

Following Allie’s departure from AEW in 2023 and Sutter’s recovery from back surgery, the team became less active in the promotion. While there had been speculation about a potential return, Williams and Sutter ultimately departed AEW when their contracts expired in June 2026.

Williams leaves behind a legacy that extended far beyond professional wrestling. Whether performing on stage with Every Time I Die or competing inside the ring as The Butcher, he built a devoted following through his passion, intensity, and unmistakable presence.

Memphis Wrestling Legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee Passes Away At Age 82

The professional wrestling world is mourning the loss of one of Memphis wrestling’s most iconic figures.

“Superstar” Bill Dundee has passed away at the age of 82. The news was announced Sunday by his son, Jamie Dundee, who revealed that his father died at approximately 3:30 a.m. No cause of death was disclosed. Dundee had been living with dementia after being diagnosed in 2023.

Born in Scotland and raised in Australia, Dundee’s path to professional wrestling began in an unlikely place. Before entering the ring, he worked as a trapeze artist after joining the circus at just 16 years old. He eventually transitioned into wrestling in 1962 and spent more than a decade competing throughout Australia before making his way to the United States.

Dundee would become synonymous with the Memphis wrestling territory, where he established himself as one of the promotion’s biggest stars. Wrestling for organizations including the Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) and the United States Wrestling Association (USWA), Dundee built a reputation as both a gifted performer and one of the region’s top villains.

Much of his legacy was forged through his legendary rivalry with Jerry “The King” Lawler. Their feud produced numerous memorable moments and unique stipulation matches that helped define Memphis wrestling during its peak years. Among the most famous encounters were bouts involving hair stipulations and even a match that saw Dundee win Lawler’s prized Cadillac.

Over the course of his career, Dundee captured the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship nine times and became one of the most recognizable names in Southern wrestling.

As the territorial era began to fade, Dundee also spent time with Jim Crockett Promotions and later appeared in WCW as Sir William alongside Lord Steven Regal. Although his WCW run was brief, he remained active in the wrestling business for decades afterward as a wrestler, manager, promoter, and mentor on the independent scene.

Dundee continued competing well into his later years before officially retiring from in-ring action in 2019.

Wrestling was truly a family affair for Dundee. His son Jamie Dundee found success in his own career, including a stint in WWE under the name JC Ice. Dundee’s daughter, Donna, was married to legendary tag team wrestler Bobby Eaton until her passing in 2021.

In recognition of his contributions to the industry, Dundee was inducted into the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2017.

In a poignant moment, Memphis Wrestling honored Dundee during its September 5 television episode, just one day before his passing. Members of the roster gathered to celebrate the longtime star and his impact on the promotion and the wrestling business as a whole.

Bill Dundee leaves behind a lasting legacy as one of the most influential performers in Memphis wrestling history. His contributions to the industry spanned more than five decades, and his name will forever be linked to one of professional wrestling’s most beloved territories.

Backstage Report Suggests Bayley Has Signed New WWE Contract

A new report indicates that Bayley is expected to remain with WWE for the foreseeable future after reportedly agreeing to a new deal with the company.

According to False Finish, there had been speculation regarding Bayley’s future in recent months as her previous contract was believed to be approaching its expiration date. Despite those questions, sources reportedly expected the former Women’s Champion to stay with WWE, and it is now believed that a new agreement has been finalized.

While neither WWE nor Bayley has publicly commented on the report, backstage belief is that “The Role Model” has signed a new contract that could see her take on additional responsibilities beyond her role as an on-screen performer.

Details regarding those expanded duties remain unclear at this time. There has been no indication as to whether the reported role would involve talent development, creative input, mentorship, ambassador work, or another position within the company.

Bayley has been away from WWE television since July, but the report notes that discussions regarding her eventual return have already begun internally. Creative plans are reportedly being explored as WWE prepares for her comeback.

A longtime fixture of WWE’s women’s division, Bayley has built a résumé that includes multiple championship reigns and headline appearances throughout her career. If the report proves accurate, the new deal would ensure that one of WWE’s most accomplished stars remains part of the company while potentially contributing in a larger capacity behind the scenes.

For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from either WWE or Bayley regarding the reported agreement and any expanded role she may be taking on.

Tessa Blanchard Signs With MLW Following TNA Exit

Tessa Blanchard has found a new home in professional wrestling.

According to comments made during an appearance on TMZ‘s Inside the Ring podcast, Blanchard confirmed that she is set to join Major League Wrestling after departing TNA earlier this year.

“I’m going to be starting with MLW here soon, and I’m super, super excited for everything to come,” Blanchard said.

The move marks the first time in Blanchard’s career that she will compete under the MLW banner. The former TNA World Champion and Knockouts Champion indicated that she plans to make an immediate impact once she arrives, with her sights already set on the MLW Women’s World Championship, currently held by Shotzi Blackheart.

Blanchard also expressed interest in becoming a cornerstone of the promotion’s women’s division, suggesting she hopes to establish herself as one of the key faces of that roster moving forward.

An additional benefit of the deal is that it allows Blanchard to continue working with CMLL in Mexico. MLW’s working relationship with the lucha libre promotion gives her the flexibility to remain active in both organizations.

During the interview, Blanchard also addressed her departure from TNA, explaining that she was ultimately forced to choose between remaining with TNA or continuing her association with CMLL. She opted to stay with the Mexican promotion, leading to her exit from TNA.

Blanchard’s arrival adds another notable name to MLW’s growing women’s division and immediately creates a potential championship match with Shotzi.

Once regarded as one of the top female performers in North America, Blanchard’s career has experienced several highs and lows over the past several years. Despite the controversies and setbacks that impacted her career trajectory, she has remained active in professional wrestling through various promotions, including CMLL and TNA.

Now, with MLW officially in her future, Blanchard is preparing for the next chapter of her career and appears ready to make her presence felt as soon as she steps into an MLW ring.

WWE Officially Retires Both Speed Championships On NXT

The WWE Speed Championships have officially come to an end.

During this week’s episode of WWE NXT, General Manager Robert Stone confirmed that both the Men’s and Women’s Speed Championships have been retired following developments at NXT Heatwave.

The decision came after newly crowned Unified Women’s North American and Speed Champion Zaria informed Stone that she would only be keeping the NXT Women’s North American Championship following her title unification victory over Wren Sinclair and Kali Armstrong. Zaria captured both championships at Heatwave, effectively merging the two titles into one.

In a backstage segment, Stone accepted Zaria’s decision and acknowledged that the Women’s Speed Championship would no longer exist. He then turned his attention to Lexis King, who entered the show as the reigning Men’s Speed Champion, and informed him that his title had also been retired.

The announcement didn’t sit well with King’s allies in BirthRight.

Charlie Dempsey questioned why the group seemed to be suffering setbacks, while King reluctantly handed over the championship. King insisted that nobody would ever take away BirthRight’s “birthright,” prompting Dempsey to declare that it was time for the faction to start taking what they wanted from the wrestling business instead.

King then appeared to have a plan in mind, leading Dempsey, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, and Arianna Grace out of Stone’s office as the segment came to a close.

The WWE Speed Championships were originally introduced as part of WWE’s partnership with X (formerly Twitter), with the titles defended exclusively in matches held under strict time limits ranging from three to five minutes. The concept served as the centerpiece of the WWE Speed series, which streamed on the social media platform.

After new episodes of WWE Speed stopped airing in July 2025, WWE moved both championships to NXT, where they remained active until this week’s official announcement.

With Zaria’s title unification and Stone’s confirmation on NXT, the WWE Speed Championships have now been formally retired, bringing an end to a unique chapter in WWE’s recent championship history.
