Joey Ryan Files Lawsuit Against Former ROH Star Pelle Primeau

Joey Ryan filed a lawsuit on October 20 against former ROH wrestler Pelle Primeau before the United States District Court, Central District of California, according to PWInsider.

This lawsuit marks the seventh known lawsuit that Ryan has filed in recent weeks.
Wrestling Inc. reported in September, one of his lawsuits was against three women who have claimed that Ryan sexually assaulted them.

With this current lawsuit, Ryan is seeking millions of dollars in damages from Primeau. He is also asking for a permanent injunction restraining Primeau from “making and publishing defamatory statements or any iteration of defamatory statements.”

The lawsuit alleges that Primeau, since June 2020, has made 26 statements that fall under libel, present Ryan in a false light, intentionally interfere with Ryan’s finances, negligently interfered with Ryan’s finances, and intentionally inflicted emotional distress, among other allegations.

Pelle Primeau reportedly took to social media to tell members of the media to “publicly commit” against Ryan and asked promotions to no longer book him as a performer due to the allegations against him.

In the lawsuit, Ryan claims that Primeau did this only because Ryan slept with Primeau’s partner. According to Ryan, he wasn’t aware of their relationship.

Ryan also claims that the statements made against him by Primeau have cost him monthly losses of $500 per month from Cameo, $1,000 per month in merchandising revenue, $1,000 per month plus additional tips and “subscription shares” from his Twitch account, losses of $1,500 a month from his Bar Wrestling promotion no longer receiving streaming and distribution earnings, $2,000 in losses per month from Bar Wrestling events, $3,000 per month in loss of revenue from his Patreon account, and losses of $8,000-$10,000 per month in lost wrestling bookings.

Ryan has requested a jury trial.

Joey Ryan And Dave Crist Terminated From Impact Wrestling, Michael Elgin Suspended

Following multiple allegations shared on social media over the past few days, Impact Wrestling has taken action against three of their wrestlers.

The company released a statement on Monday saying:

“IMPACT Wrestling confirms that it has terminated its contracts with Dave Crist and Joey Ryan, effective immediately. In addition, it has suspended Michael Elgin pending further review of allegations of misconduct.”

As we previously reported, Ryan has been accused of numerous acts of sexual abuse and harassment since the #SpeakingOut movement began. An anonymous female wrestler said he once sexually assaulted her after a show. A former girlfriend alleged Ryan choked her and was verbally abusive. Wrestler Rok-C says Ryan began a flirting with her when she was just 17 years old. And more stories have since come to light.

Crist has been accused of multiple accounts of sexual assault and misconduct. This includes a claim from an ex-girlfriend who claimed he had been abusive and sexually assaulted her more than once.

Elgin has been accused of sending unwanted nude photos to women, among other old incidents.

Joey Ryan Reportedly Not Returning To Impact Wrestling

In the wake of ongoing sexual assault allegations against him, a new report from Pwinsider.com reports that sources close to the matter believe that Impact’s Joey Ryan will not be returning to the company.

As noted, several allegations against Ryan continue to surface online via social media since the #SpeakingOut movement first began. One incident involves a wrestler named Corinne Mink, who said she was once picked up by Joey Ryan from the airport for a show and he groped her.

Ryan did provide a statement online regarding the allegations that first began to surface. In it, Ryan revealed that he entered counseling in October 2018 and still attends it every week. He also admitted that he didn’t always treat people with respect and acknowledges he could have possibly made others feel uncomfortable in the process.

Both Ryan and Bar Wrestling deleted their Twitter accounts this past weekend. Bar Wrestling, located in Los Angeles, California, was founded by Ryan in 2017.

Joey Ryan Reveals His Pro Wrestling Future

There have been a lot of questions as to where Joey Ryan would be heading following his recent legal battle with Lucha Underground. While AEW and WWE had both reportedly been interested in signing him, Ryan has decided to go a different route.

Joey Ryan stated at a Bar Wrestling event last night that he turned down lucrative deals from multiple promotions. He will remain on the independent scene where he built and innovated his brand.

Over the years, Ryan has become the “King of Dong Style” and has been known for his intergender matches. It was before this promo that he actually faced Priscilla Kelly. He stated that he wouldn’t be able to be his true self if he took a deal with another promotion.

Ryan, 39, compared himself to Aladdin, stating that he wanted to be a prince but knew he had to be his true, authentic self. He went on to say that independent wrestling and its fans have become the blonde girl he’s been looking for on Being The Elite. He finished by saying he may be a big fish in a small pond, but it is his pond.

Joey Ryan Teases Signing With WWE And Announces Farewell To Indies

Joey Ryan wrote on Twitter that his time on the independent circuit is coming to an end. Ryan even has a new “Farewell” tour shirt available at Pro Wrestling Tees.

As previously reported, WWE had talks with Joey Ryan last week to work in their developmental system after they found out he was free from his Lucha Underground contract. In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE’s offer was “nothing special” and wouldn’t be for the main roster. It is more of a case of signing him so that he wouldn’t be available for other promotions.

In The Wrestling Observer Newsletter last week, it was reported that WWE had asked Ryan to move to Orlando to wrestle in NXT for a few years before transitioning into a coaching position.

Ryan had been expected to sign with AEW, as he was a big part of All In last September and he has been regularly featured in the Being The Elite series. In his tweet, Ryan used #RAW, which could always be to swerve fans. Ryan also posted his schedule on the indies this month, which consists of 16 dates.

Ryan had a WWE tryout back in 2013. After the tryout, Ryan, who is 39 years old now, told Wrestling Inc. that the only feedback he received was that he was too old.

“I mean, it was what it was,” Ryan told us in 2013. “I don’t even know how to really describe it because it didn’t have a whole lot to even do with professional wrestling. It was more just conditioning and they focused very little on professional wrestling and very little of the drills they ran that had to do with professional wrestling. We did hours and hours of rolls and cardio and then like a minute on promos. So it was like, really different than I thought it was because I thought they’d want to focus more on seeing everyone’s acting abilities or everyone’s personalities, but they really didn’t. It was more like, let’s just have a look at everybody and see what we like. I don’t even know if there was any kind of measuring stick to be like, well if he does this well or they do this well then we’re going to have our interest in them.

“It was more kind of just them having a look at everybody and just getting everybody in one room and making their decisions based on what they personally liked or not. My only feedback from them really was that they feel like I’m too, which was kind of confusing to me, they feel like I’m too old and experienced to be in developmental. I’m in my 30s now, but my age and experience didn’t change from when they invited me to the camp, so I didn’t really understand that. To them, they’re in control of how they do their system. So that was my feedback. They just didn’t feel like it was the right time in my life to be in developmental. They’re not bringing anybody straight onto TV at the moment because they’ve got a full roster themselves. So it was what it was.”

WWE Reportedly Interested In Signing Joey Ryan, But Likely Going To AEW

WWE officials have had talks with Joey Ryan about coming to work in their developmental system.

Ryan was not given an official WWE offer as of earlier in the week, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, but he was contacted after the company got word that he was a free agent when he was let out of his Lucha Underground contract. Ryan was asked if he would be willing to move to Orlando, wrestle in WWE NXT for a few years, and then move into a coaching position.

The Observer notes that Ryan is expected to end up with All Elite Wrestling, but he’s not currently under contract with them. Ryan currently owns a home in Los Angeles and earns far more money working the indies than he would with an average NXT salary. The Observer adds that Ryan would have absolutely taken WWE’s offer if he was 29 years old, but at 39 he’s probably not interested in taking a pay cut to start with WWE, or anyone else offering far less than what he’s already making.

The Elite Make Surprise Appearance At Bar Wrestling Event (Video)

bar wrestling the elite surprise appearance video

Members of The Elite made a surprise appearance at Bar Wrestling in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

It all happened at the Bootleg Theater during the main event after SCU laid out an open challenge which was answered by RockNES Monsters and Watts.

Both referees got knocked out at one point in the match and Joey Ryan intervened to stop Watts from hitting Scorpio Sky with a chair. Joey got attacked for doing so and Hangman Page came out to save him. The two rivals then put their differences aside  … by making Watts grab their penises.

RockNES Monsters returned to the ring afterward and attacked Joey/Page from behind, but Cody and Brandi Rhodes came out to make the save. Brandi hit the Bionic Spear and Cody hit an outside dive while wearing his dress clothes.

Watts re-emerged and hit Cody with a big boot … then The Young Bucks hit the ring.

The full match showing SCU end things with a victory will be available soon on Pivot Share.

According to SoCalUncensored.com (where the group’s name came from), Cody told the crowd during a post-match speech that they were all signed to AEW … then Brandi made him fire them.

This appearance is the first for the group after announcing their new promotion All Elite Wrestling.

Joey Ryan Supports Ivelisse In Contract Dispute With Lucha Underground

joey ryan lucha underground ivelisse contract dispute

Ivelisse isn’t the only wrestler looking to get out of their Lucha Underground contract, as Joey Ryan released a statement which implies he’s going through a similar battle.

As we noted, Ivelisse says she’s been requesting a release from her Lucha Underground contract for over a year and now feels like she’s being “legally held hostage.”

Joey echoed similar sentiments in a tweet on Tuesday saying,

“I back Ivelisse 100% on this. Prior to S4, we were told anybody who requested a release would be granted one. Some did and left after the tapings. Others showed faith in the product and now seems are being punished for it. With no S5 in sight, it’s petty to keep anyone locked up.”

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that the creative team behind the show are all for the cast working as much as possible and feel terrible about Dorian Roldan not granting release requests. One source says if it were up to the creative team making the show, talent would be allowed out of their contracts.

Last night in Chicago at MLW: Fusion TV tapings, Joey Ryan revealed that he tore his pec in Austin, TX earlier this week. Ryan joked, “That seems to be going around a bit.”

Joey Ryan was slated to team with Swoggle at last night’s tapings against The Dirty Blondes and did still compete in the match. He did not use his injured left arm, which was in a sling, the entire bout.

Following the bout Ryan removed his sling and showed the crowd his heavily bruised upper left arm. He then confessed that he thinks he is going to need surgery and does not know how long he will be out of action. He thanked the Chicago crowd and said that he was happy that he got to compete there one more time.
