Backstage Speculation Continues Around Possible WWE Return For Enzo Amore & Big Cass

Rumors surrounding a potential reunion of Enzo Amore and Big Cass in WWE continue to pick up steam following recent reports about the company wanting to strengthen its tag team division.

Last week, word surfaced that WWE has shown interest in rebuilding its tag team scene despite making several roster cuts shortly after WrestleMania. Among the names reportedly being discussed were former fan-favorite duo Enzo & Cass, who became one of the company’s most popular acts during the black-and-gold NXT era before moving to the main roster.

A new update from Fightful Select has added even more intrigue to the situation, particularly regarding Enzo Amore, now known on the independent scene as Real1.

According to the report, promoters have allegedly been informed that Amore is no longer accepting future wrestling bookings. Several promoters reportedly believe that decision could indicate he is WWE-bound, though no official confirmation has been made.

Amore has been away from WWE since early 2018, when he was released following allegations of sexual assault that reportedly were not disclosed to the company at the time. While the allegations generated major headlines, they never resulted in criminal charges. Since leaving WWE, Amore has wrestled for promotions including MLW, TNA, and various independent companies. His latest appearance came at WWA Hysteria 178, where he defeated Clay Williams.

Meanwhile, Big Cass — currently known as Big Bill in AEW — has also fueled speculation due to his recent absence from television. Bill has not appeared on AEW programming since February, while his last ROH match took place in early April.

Previous reports indicated that Bill’s AEW contract was expected to expire around the end of May or beginning of June, and Fightful noted this week that they have not heard of any changes to that timeline. His former tag team partner in AEW, Bryan Keith, has continued competing in singles matches during Bill’s absence.

Although Enzo and Cass have not regularly teamed together since splitting in WWE back in 2017, the duo did briefly reunite earlier this year during Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise event.

If WWE is truly looking to inject new life into its tag division, bringing back one of the most recognizable teams of the late 2010s would certainly create conversation. Whether the former “Realest Guys in the Room” actually make their return remains to be seen, but the speculation is clearly growing louder.

Former WWE Star Enzo Reportedly Seen At WWE Performance Center – Big Bill’s AEW Contract Expiring Soon?

A familiar face from WWE’s past may be back on the company’s radar.

According to a report from False Finish, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore was recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. The outlet noted that Amore was present at the facility on Tuesday ahead of this week’s episode of WWE NXT on The CW.

False Finish shared the following update on X:

“False Finish has learned that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has been at the WWE Performance Center recently and was there yesterday ahead of #WWENXT.”

Amore’s WWE run came to an abrupt end in January 2018 after sexual assault allegations surfaced against him. WWE suspended him on January 22 before officially parting ways with him the following day. Later that year, the Phoenix Police Department closed the investigation without filing charges.

Since leaving WWE, Amore — who has performed under the name Real1 — has remained active on the independent wrestling scene. Over the years, he has appeared for promotions including MLW, GCW, House of Glory, and Northeast Wrestling while also pursuing music projects outside the ring.

The timing of the reported Performance Center visit has sparked speculation among fans due to another recent report involving Big Bill, formerly known in WWE as Big Cass.

Fightful Select reported back in April that Big Bill’s AEW deal could expire around late May or early June 2026. Bill has been largely absent from AEW programming in recent months, wrestling only a handful of matches this year and not appearing on television since a February episode of Collision.

With Amore reportedly back around WWE and Big Bill’s AEW future uncertain, talk of a potential Enzo & Cass reunion has naturally picked up online.

The duo became one of WWE’s most popular tag teams during their NXT and main roster run in the mid-2010s. Their charisma and crowd reactions helped make them standout acts on both brands before WWE split them up in 2017 with Cass turning on Enzo during an episode of Raw.

While they never captured tag team gold on the WWE main roster, the team was widely considered one of the hottest acts of that era. Big Cass eventually departed WWE in 2018 before rebuilding his career through IMPACT Wrestling, the independent scene, and eventually AEW as Big Bill.

At this point, there’s no official word regarding a WWE return for Amore, but his reported appearance at the Performance Center is already generating plenty of discussion about what could potentially be next.

WWE Denies Report On Enzo Amore And Big Cass Talks, Big Cass Responds

WWE has denied that they have had recent talks with Enzo Amore and Big Cass about a return to the WWE NXT brand.

We noted yesterday, that Enzo and Cass had talks about returning to be top stars of NXT. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter originally reported that WWE had been in talks with Enzo and Cass about a possible return to work as top stars for the WWE NXT brand, but there was no word on if they had accepted the offer.

WWE told the media that the story is incorrect. WWE says that there is no basis for the story, and that they have had zero discussions with Enzo and Cass, according to PWInsider.

Big Cass (CaZXL) took to Twitter with what appears to be a simple response to the reports that WWE dismissed on a possible return to the company for he and Enzo Amore (nZo).

Cass took to Twitter after WWE denied the story and wrote, “Idiots [laughing emoji]”

I guess we will just have to wait and see if there is any truth to Enzo and Cass returning to WWE NXT.

Enzo Amore And Big Cass Reportedly In Talks For WWE NXT Return

Enzo Amore and Big Cass could be returning to WWE NXT soon.

WWE officials have been in talks with the former tag team about a surprise return to be top stars on the black & yellow brand, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

There’s no word yet on if Enzo and Cass have accepted the offer, but they have been in talks. They recently returned to the indie scene together, as nZo and CaZXL. Obvious speculation would have them return on the September 18 NXT USA Network premiere, but the Observer speculated that Vince McMahon could save them for week three, which is head-to-head with the AEW TNT premiere on October 2.

Former WWE Star Big Cass Opens Up About Facing Depression And Anxiety

Big Cass aka CaZXL has opened up in a new interview about his struggle with depression and anxiety.

The 32-year-old wrestler was interviewed on DDP Yoga’s channel and begins the video talking about how he wasn’t well mentally during his WWE run.

“TVs were the worst for me because of anxiety,” Cass explained. “I’d always had it, and then it kinda ramped up after the debut. And you don’t really tell anybody. You kinda hide it deep down, which is the worst thing you could do.”

Cass then talked about how he had no medication to help him cope with his issues, or someone he could talk with about it, so he self-medicated using alcohol. This lead to a moment where he wished death upon himself.

The next day he woke up and went to the arena for a Raw match against Enzo Amore, which is ultimately where he tore his ACL.

“I was just a wreck, man. A complete and utter wreck. I didn’t know who to look to,” he added. “I don’t know how I’m alive today. The amount that I was drinking was ridiculous. The food that I was putting in my body was ridiculous. No physical activity. Chain smoking cigarettes.”

Images were then shown of his home covered in wine bottles and food.

Cass then admits WWE had every right to release him at the time.

Cass also addressed having a seizure at a House of Hardcore show and revealed he hadn’t slept for two days prior. He says this was a wakeup call for him though and it felt like a message from God telling him to turn his life around.

The former WWE star then immediately began living with someone who offered to help him get sober, as well as out of depression.

The video ends with Cass urging anyone going through a similar struggle to know they’re not weak. They just need to get assistance through the proper channels.

Enzo Amore And Big Cass Already Done With ROH?

Enzo Amore and Big Cass created headlines when they crashed the Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling G1 Supercard event earlier this month.

At the show, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa retained the IWGP Tag Team Championship and won the ROH World Tag Team Championship against PCO & Brody King, The Briscoes, and EVIL & SANADA. Following the match, Enzo & Cass were at ringside and brawled with The Briscoes and Bully Ray. While it was a creative decision to bring them in, they have not appeared for the promotion since.

The former WWE tag team were not at any of the ROH shows this past weekend in Pittsburgh or Columbus. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as of this moment, they are not booked for any future appearances and are not a part of any of ROH’s current plans.

The appearance at the G1 Supercard did not go over well with many people backstage. According to Dave Meltzer, the original plans for their ROH debut was for Enzo to grab Mark Briscoe causing Mark to shove him and that would be it. The segment was set to end with Enzo being escorted away by security to play off of Enzo crashing the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view last year. The thought was that it would have been so quick that people would have felt like it was real. It ended up becoming a brawl that involved Bully Ray.

On an episode of Wrestling Inc.’s WINCLY podcast this week, PCO admitted that he was as confused as anyone despite being a part of the match.

“There was a lot of controversy about what happened. For me, I was just worrying about my back because I took a double powerbomb from 12-14 feet in the air straight to the concrete floor,” PCO said before adding that hell broke loose when Enzo and Cass appeared. “I didn’t know what was going on because nobody knew nothing about this. I just came back from TV tapings in Pittsburgh and Columbus… and I got back yesterday and there was no Enzo and no Cass at those events. I haven’t heard anything from the office so I don’t know what’s going on with that. Are they signed? Are they not signed?

“It’s all question marks for me as it is for you so I guess it’s a corporate decision. I have no power over it and I can’t say if I’m not in favor of it or if I am in favor of it. I don’t know nothing about it and I’m gonna let the ROH executives deal with it… I know GoD weren’t happy about it. It seems like they weren’t pleased with the fact that somebody could jump over the fence like that and take their moment so to speak.”

The G1 Supercard was the pairing’s first pro wrestling appearance together since they were let go by WWE.

Enzo Amore And Big Cass Brawl With ROH Wrestlers At G1 Supercard (VIDEO)

Former WWE stars Enzo Amore and Big Cass got into a brawl with ROH wrestlers in Madison Square Garden at G1 Supercard.

It all went down after the four-way tag team match when Enzo and Cass hopped the barricade and began fighting talent. Bully Ray then ran over to get some shots in.

Things began to escalate, but security didn’t jump in. This would seem to signal that this was planned beforehand and not like Enzo’s stunt at Staples, but the fight wasn’t show on the broadcast. We’ve been unable to verify with 100% certainty at this time if this was a work, but all signs point in that direction.

Once the wrestlers were all split apart, Enzo and Cass were escorted through the crowd.

Saturday night, former WWE star Big Cass suffered a seizure at a House of Hardcore event during the show’s intermission. Big Cass was scheduled to appear on the second half of the show in a segment with Joey Ryan, but was replaced by the Blue Meanie. House of Hardcore took place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

According to PWInsider, by the time the EMTs arrived to treat Cass he was coherent and speaking with HOH management.

Tommy Dreamer also gave an update on Twitter that he spoke to Cass today and he was doing well.

Below are tweets from those in attendance of last night’s show when Cass went down.

Cass’ former WWE tag-team partner, Enzo Amore, commented on Twitter about the incident with some words of support, “If I had a dime for every time one of us got knocked down and didn’t get back up…I would have zero dimes!”

Reasoning Behind Big Cass’ WWE Release

Related image

As reported, WWE announced that Big Cass has been released from the company. Apparently, per Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, Vince McMahon held a meeting Tuesday prior to SmackDown Liveairing, and made the decision to let Cass go.

According to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, a major issue was Big Cass excessively drinking during most of the European tour, and having attitudes with others while drunk. Moreover, being intoxicated while in public is something the WWE does not condone, which is why they were sour on Cass.

Regarding Cass’ backstage demeanor, former WWE wrestler Simon Dean (Mike Bucci) shared a story on Facebook where he recalled Cass acting in a rude manner. According to Bucci, Cass “big-dogged” a former co-worker who was backstage, and forced him out of the locker room.

“A former wrestling co-worker of mine from back in my WWE days was backstage at a show about a year ago and Big Cass big dogged him and asked him to leave the locker room,” Bucci wrote on Facebook. “If their paths cross again on the indys, I hope I’m there to see my old buddy return the favor.”

According to a source that WrestlingINC’s  Chris Featherstone had reached out to, Cass could have been getting too comfortable with his character and getting in conflict with people backstage, and these are situations that usually get wrestlers in hot water. The source added that Cass could have been trying to make up for offending others by “playing politics,” and it was probably a case of “keeping it real going wrong.”
