Creed Brothers (With Ivy Nile) Defeat Alpha Academy In WWE Main Roster Debut On Raw

After accepting Alpha Academy’s open challenge via social media earlier in the day, The Creed Brothers arrived on “WWE Raw” and made the most of the opportunity, earning the victory after a Brutus Ball on Otis.

Accompanied by Ivy Nile, Brutus and Julius Creed made their way to the ring for this two-on-two showdown of bona fide amateur wrestling backgrounds. Julius kicked things off against Chad Gable, quickly showing the Greenville crowd his the trademark strength that he and his brother possess, starting from his knees to lift Gable into a vertical suplex before handing him off to Brutus to complete the move. Otis eventually scored a near fall following The Caterpillar, but Julius kicked out and turned the tides with a jumping knee.

Attempting to give the edge to Alpha Academy, Maxxine Dupri tried to distract the referee but Nile stormed around the ring and pulled her off the apron before attempting a distraction of her own, but Dupri returned the favor. Academy “junior cadet” Akira Tozawa tried to play intermediary but ate a suplex from Nile for his efforts.

Ultimately, the newcomers would get the glory, with Julius somehow hoisting the monstrous Otis into an electric chair position, setting up Brutus to hit The Brutus Ball and secure the 1-2-3 in their main roster debut.

Samoan Swat Team, Former MLW Tag Team Champions, Have Reportedly Been Released

It appears that Alex Hammerstone isn’t the only Major League Wrestling star to ask for his release — both Lance Anoa’i and Juicy Finau revealed on Sunday night on X (previously known as Twitter) that they were granted their releases. Their last match for MLW was back on July 8, at MLW Never Say Never, where they lost the MLW World Tag Team Titles to AKIRA and Rickey Shane Page.

Anoa’i wrote, “As Of TODAY! I have been granted my @MLW Release! I wanna thank MLW! Wanna give a big shout out to my USOs @JuicyFinau and @SAMOANWEREWOLF Thank you for everything! Love you guys! #SST.” Meanwhile Finau tweeted, “As of today I’ve been released from @MLW Just want to thank everyone I’ve crossed paths with while I was there. Extremely thankful to MLW for the opportunities! Especially wanna thank my brothers @SAMOANWEREWOLF & @lanceanoai IM NOW A FREE AGENT.”

During their time in MLW, Anoa’i and Finau were part of the Samoan Swat Team with Anoa’i’s cousin, former MLW Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu. The only titles they held in the company, as mentioned earlier, were the MLW Tag Team Titles, holding them for a total of 182 days. Since Anoa’i has been absent from MLW, he’s been busy wrestling in Pro Wrestling NOAH, while Finau has worked at a series of indie events.

Anoa’i made his pro wrestling debut in 2010, while Finau began his pro wrestling career in 2019. It’s worth mentioning that Anoa’i’s father is former WWF Tag Team Champion Samu who’s best known for tagging with WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi as the Headshrinkers. Anoa’i also has a few WWE matches under his belt — the latest was in 2019, in a match against none other than Shane McMahon.

Injury Update On AEW’s Bryan Danielson

Last Wednesday on “AEW Dynamite,” Bryan Danielson sustained an injury, later announced by Tony Schiavone to be a broken orbital bone. The injury came during a tag match that included the “Dynamite” debut of Kazuchika Okada, with Danielson and partner Claudio Castagnoli eventually coming out on top. Today’s “Wrestling Observer Radio” features another update on Danielson’s condition, with Dave Meltzer reporting that the AEW star has undergone surgery for the fracture.

The company was reportedly hopeful that Danielson’s injury would not require surgery, but it turned out that the performer needed a procedure to heal properly. Meltzer pointed out the bad luck of Danielson’s AEW run thus far, with the 42-year-old suffering several unrelated injuries that have put him on the shelf for months at a time. The same can be said for Adam Cole, who debuted the same night as Danielson before being forced to spend much of 2022 away from the ring due to serious concussions. Cole is currently out of action again with an ankle injury.

Just last month, Danielson announced his intention to wrap up his full-time wrestling career within the next year. That makes the timing of his current injury all the worse, and it’s unclear if Danielson will look to extend that timeframe based on how long it takes for him to get back in the ring this time around.

Danielson was also injured wrestling against Okada back in June when the two faced off at the second annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Danielson fractured his forearm in that match, though he soldiered through the injury to win the bout.

UPDATE:

Bryan Danielson is currently out of action because of a broken orbital bone, but the injury did not happen as initially thought.

The original belief was that it occurred during the tag team match with Claudio Castagnoli against Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada on last week’s Dynamite.

However, according to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, the injury actually occurred during a recent match when he collided heads with Andrade.

Believed to have occurred in a tag match with Claudio Castagnoli against Okada and Orange Cassidy on last Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite,” Danielson may have actually wrestled in that bout already having suffered the new break. According to the latest “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Danielson’s injury occurred four days earlier on “AEW Collision” during his match with Andrade El Idolo. In the course of the match Andrade went for a back elbow. The two men’s heads accidentally collided, and Andrade hit Danielson in the eye.

Danielson was sporting a black eye following the match, but the severity of the injury was not clear to him or AEW at first — some thought it was initially nothing serious at all. But once things became more apparent, the call was made to do the angle seen on “Dynamite” where Danielson took both an Orange Punch from Cassidy and a Rainmaker from Okada, paving the way to write him off television for the time being.

It is still uncertain whether he will choose to undergo surgery to repair it.

Whether or not Danielson opts for surgery is up in the air right now. Both he and AEW are optimistic that it might not be necessary for recovery and that the broken orbital bone could heal naturally, reducing the time he’d need to be away from the ring.

Former MLW World Champion Alex Hammerstone Reportedly Requests To Be Released

One of Major League Wrestling’s biggest stars has reportedly requested his release, but he may not be granted it anytime soon.

Fightful Select broke the news on Saturday that former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone has requested his release from the company as his five-year relationship with MLW has become “frayed.” Hammerstone is said to be under contract until the end of 2025, while MLW does not intend to grant the release. As of this writing, Hammerstone has not been informed whether his request will be granted or denied.

The 32-year-old hasn’t appeared for MLW since July when his 644-day World Championship reign ended at the hands of Alex Kane. The company believes Hammerstone’s motivation decreased after dropping the gold.

Fightful adds that Hammerstone is under a monthly guarantee that adds pay per event. Hammerstone was initially set to miss MLW’s September event due to a prior obligation, but when he became available, the funds that would’ve been allocated for him went elsewhere and he was ultimately not brought in.

Hammerstone remains under MLW contract despite not being featured on the company’s active online roster that was recently updated. The current roster boasts familiar names like Matt Cardona, Maki Itoh, Jacob Fatu, Minoru Suzuki, Davey Boy Smith Jr., KUSHIDA, Raven, and others.

Lastly, MLW obviously wants to retain Hammerstone’s services as the company has invested much time in building him as their top star. He reportedly indicated to management earlier this year that he felt burned out and he is not currently booked to appear soon.

News On An Injury Sustained By Bryan Danielson On AEW Dynamite

During this Saturday’s episode of “AEW Collision,” it was announced by Tony Schiavone that Bryan Danielson broke his orbital bone and is expected to be out for the remainder of the year. He will be undergoing surgery, too. The unfortunate injury happened during his tag team match against AEW TNT Champion Orange Cassidy and NJPW star Kazuchika Okada on the October 25 episode of “AEW Dynamite,” when he was hit with both an Orange Punch and Rainmaker.

Also, during “Collision,” Danielson’s Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Claudio Castagnoli called out Okada and Cassidy. He warned them that he will get his revenge for what they did to his partner — and he’ll be using their signature moves, the Orange Punch and Rainmaker, in the process. Later on the show, Castagnoli had a squash match with Tracy Williams, where he used the Rainmaker. Castagnoli is set to face Cassidy on the November 1 episode of “Dynamite.” Cassidy will be putting the AEW International Title on the line.

It was on the September 2 episode of “Collision,” when Danielson returned to AEW programming after fracturing his forearm during his match against Okada in June at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. The year before, at the 2022 Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Danielson had to miss it because of an undisclosed injury, and Castagnoli took his place in a match against NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. Danielson and Sabre Jr., eventually got their one-on-one match earlier this month at AEW WrestleDream, in which Danielson got the win.

Heath Miller’s Impact Wrestling Deal Expires, Now A Free Agent

Heath Miller is currently a free agent as his Impact Wrestling contract has expired.

Fightful Select is reporting that Heath is now accepting bookings for independent events following the expiration of his Impact Wrestling contract.

Heath signed with Impact Wrestling in July 2020 following his release from WWE in April of that year.

During his 3-year run with the Anthem-owned promotion, Heath won the Impact Tag Team Championships with Rhino.

Heath was sidelined for almost an entire year following an injury he sustained at Bound for Glory 2020, where he “won” an Impact Wrestling contract during the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match.

Impact Wrestling added time to Heath’s contract due to the injury period.
