WWE Reportedly Interested In Signing Top Impact Star Facing Possible Departure, Note On Contracts

Image result for Lashley, EC3 and Eddie Edwards

We noted before how Bobby Lashley and Ethan Carter III could be leaving Impact Wrestling when their contracts expire soon. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that former World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards may be joining EC3 and Lashley as his contract expires in February 2018.

Regarding contracts moving forward, word is that the company will only be offering the new per-day contracts instead of significant guaranteed money deals, which Lashley, EC3 and Edwards are currently signed to. There’s a good chance these three veterans may be leaving because of this, just like James Storm. Storm recently left the company as he was signed to a high-paying contract that the company did not want to renew as they are looking to stop losing money.

No word yet on Eddie’s future plans but the belief right now is that WWE and ROH do have interest in signing him. WWE’s interest is for the WWE NXT brand, according to The Observer.

The Crash Lucha Libre Parts Ways With Konnan

the crash lucha libre konnan parts ways released

The Crash wrestling promotion in Mexico announced today that they’ve parted ways with Konnan and released a statement that sounds like things didn’t end on the best of terms.

The statement on Facebook reads: “The Crash Lucha Libre brand is known for the way we treat people and value each and every single person that works in this company. Bettering the economical and habitual needs. Showing the support for each element and giving opportunity to new talent. In this way, the value and professionalism shown between each of its partners.”

“Not being able to comply to the Crash Lucha Libre code of ethic, is something that we do not tolerate in this company. With that being said, We now announce that Carlos Santiago Espada “Konnan”, will no longer be working with The Crash.”

It’s unclear at this point what caused the two sides to split. There’s also no word on whether this will affect Konnan’s relationship with Impact Wrestling, who are affiliated with The Crash.

As we previously reported though, Konnan was recently announced as the head writer of the new startup promotion Aro Lucha — fronted by the production team who used to work with Impact.

Rikishi’s Wrestling School Launches Interactive Wrestling Show On Twitch (Video)

rikishi wrestling school twitch interactive video

Ex-WWE wrestler Rikishi launched a new series on Twitch today featuring wrestlers from his training school taking directions from people on the internet — and it’s pretty wacky.

The show is called Live Interactive Wrestling and is a take on the Twitch Plays style of gaming.

To those unfamiliar, that means viewers have the ability to dictate the “players” action in the game by typing in the chat room and things get pretty chaotic.

The press release explains, “You call it–We execute it! No more screaming at the TV or the computer without being heard. Yes, we can see all your posts live on Twitch chat and the wrestlers will respond from the squared circle.  If you can’t take it, don’t dish it.  You can also help your favorite wrestler win his or her match multiple times a week LIVE.”

The Rock‘s daughter is only 16-years-old, but “The People’s Child” says she’s already thinking about stepping into the ring.

Simone Johnson spoke with The Hollywood Reporter after being named Golden GlobesAmbassador this year — an honor given to celebrity offspring — and dropped a bombshell.

When asked about her love of wrestling, Simon responded: “It’s a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue.”

Adding, “I plan to study business in college — NYU, hopefully — and after graduating, I want to pursue wrestling and eventually transition into talent management.”

Lucha Underground Season 4 Update, Talent Exclusivity Will Be ‘Relaxed’

lucha underground talent exclusivity contracts

The executive producer of Lucha Underground has acknowledged it wasn’t fair to keep talent off TV for up to a year between seasons, so he claims their exclusivity going forward will be “relaxed.”

Eric Van Wagenen told the Masks, Mats & Mayhem show that they’ll be easing up on where people will be allowed to work because no one on their team expected LU to have a hiatus that lasted over one year and it isn’t beneficial for either sides if a wrestler is kept off TV for that long.

“The Lucha Underground LLC partners are going to do a talent exchange with Impact, with Ring of Honor, with NOAH in Japan, Stardom.” Wagenen continued, “This is all under Dorian’s control, but we’re definitely gonna start letting our guys branch out. We’re gonna try to help negotiate relationships with other promotions so that our guys can get more TV exposure.”

He also noted that they were initially territorial … but due to the relationship with Impact Wrestling, they’ve now realized it only helps their company.

In regards to unhappy talent though, the Lucha EP says they’ve had release requests and they’ll be happy to grant them once the characters can be written out of storylines.

As for Rey Fenix and Pentagon Dark, Eric says he believes they’ll be back for Season 4.

David Otunga And Jennifer Hudson Split, She Files Protective Order

David Otunga‘s relationship with Jennifer Hudson is over and the singer has filed a restraining order against the WWE announcer — but his lawyer released a statement claiming it’s a custody tactic.

The couple’s split, and subsequent protective order, was first reported by People. TMZ followed it up with a report which includes a statement from David’s lawyer Tracy Rizzo.

“David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now.” The statement continues, “However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute.”

Rizzo adds, “As a result of Mr. Otunga’s career in the WWE, Ms. Hudson felt that she could give an award winning performance in court to portray herself as the victim.  Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son.”

Jennifer Hudson’s rep told People.com that the order was filed in the best interest of their child.

Even though Jennifer doesn’t accuse him of it, David’s lawyer says he wanted to make it clear that the announcer never got physical with his fiancee.
