Ronda Rousey’s return to the UFC remains a mystery, but the former female bantamweight champion is headed back to work. Rousey will be part of the revamped “Battle of the Network Stars” series on ABC beginning this June.

Rousey, who lost to Amanda Nunes last December in her first fight since dropping the title to Holly Holm in 2015, will be part of the series that spans 10 episodes. She will be a team captain along with DeMarcus Ware.

“If someone could go back in time and tell the 10-year-old me, glued to the television, watching Howard Cosell and all the biggest names in television running obstacle courses and playing tug of war, that someday he would be directly involved with Battle of the Network Stars, he would have said it was the coolest thing ever,” host Mike Greenberg said. “Decades later, that’s exactly how I feel.”

The series debuts June 29 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

CM Punk Offered $1 Million To Work UK Indie Tournament

The Sun reports that 5 Star Wrestling promoter Daniel Hinkles is offering $1 million to former WWE Champion CM Punk to make a return to the ring on 5 Star’s 128-man tournament that begins on June 10th in Liverpool.

Hinkles said:

“We’ve been trying to contact CM Punk on and off for well over a year. We wanted him on the first show we did in Edinburgh in 2015. I’ve tried going through friends in the industry, I’ve gone through his website and sent dozens of emails but the opportunity has never been this big. We want to offer CM Punk $1 million dollars (£770,000) to come and join the 5 Star Wrestling tour starting June 10th. It’s a genuine offer. We’d love to hear back from the man himself. We want to do this with him.”

Punk has been away from pro wrestling since leaving WWE in January 2014. He lost his MMA debut for UFC in September 2016 and has hoped to make another return to the Octagon but nothing has been announced.

The 5 Star promoter continued:

“It doesn’t get more credible than CM Punk. We all know that if he ever comes back to wrestling it will be one of those epic moments – I want that to be with 5 Star Wrestling, right here in the UK. A common saying in the wrestling world is that the UK has the best fans, well how about we give them the biggest moments too. We are hugely ambitious. When we ask the fans who they want to see, CM Punk’s name is on everybody’s wish list and we’re willing to spend big to make it happen. I know he is seemingly focused on MMA at the moment and this wouldn’t have to end that, but wrestling is in his blood and $1 million has to be worth thinking about.”

NXT Superstar Roderick Strong is officially a dad now, proudly announcing Monday night that his fiancé Marina Shafir gave birth to a baby boy.

Strong posted a picture of his new family with the caption, “Tonight April 24th at 8:36pm we welcomed a beautiful 20inches 7lb 11oz baby boy Troy Veniamin Lindsey into this world!”

He also included the hashtags “our little viking boy” and “life will never be the same.”

Marina posted an update last week saying the baby was due on 4/20, but it sounds like he was just trying to hang in the nest for a few more days.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Ronda Rousey Working With New Trainer, Fueling Speculation Of UFC Return

Ever since Ronda Rousey’s second straight quick loss at UFC 207 late last year, it has been made quite clear by UFC president Dana White and others that the former champ is unlikely to ever step in the cage again. Ronda herself hasn’t commented on it, but her budding acting career and large bank account made it pretty easy to figure that out.

Every so often though, some small signs pop up that make it look like she could possibly return. Another of those came up today, with a strength and nutrition trainer named Dan Garner taking to social media to announce that he was working with Rousey:

Here’s what he said in the post:

“Wanted to give a good welcoming post to Ronda Rousey who has just recently joined the team, and is all set for the comprehensive nutritional programming process with myself. Excited to have her on board and to accomplish some great things with her this year.

Let’s go!”

Garner has worked with a bevy of regional MMA fighters in the past, but no one near the level of Rousey.

Honestly, there’s not enough information here to draw any sort of conclusion. Could she just be interested in cleaning up her diet and that’s all? Absolutely. But when you get to the level of stardom that Ronda has, and you haven’t made your intentions crystal clear, people are going to speculate. So could this be the first step towards a return to the sport? Sure. But it could be 100 other things as well. Don’t get your hopes up.

Brock Lensar Retires From UFC Competition

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has informed the mixed martial arts promotion that he is retired from competition.

The UFC confirmed the 39-year old Lesnar’s decision Wednesday.

Lesnar returned from a 4 and a half year MMA absence last July to beat Mark hunt at UFC 200, but the results was overturned after Lesnar failed two doping tests. He was subsequently suspended from competition for a year by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which administers the UFC’s doping policy.

Lesnar’s decision to retire means he has been removed from USADA’s drug-testing pool, which monitors the fighters year-round.

If he decides to return to competition, he would have to serve the remaining five months of his suspension.
