Report: Sting’s Son Steven Borden Believed To Be Under AEW Contract

AEW may have another member of the Borden family officially in the fold.

According to a report from Fightful Select, there is a widespread belief within AEW that Steven Borden, the son of WWE Hall of Famer and former AEW star Sting, is currently signed with the company.

While AEW has not publicly announced a contract signing, Borden has reportedly been working regularly behind the scenes and competing in dark matches as he continues his development as a professional wrestler.

Steven Borden Continues Gaining Experience In AEW

Borden has quietly built experience throughout 2026 by competing in a number of dark matches before episodes of AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision.

His most recent appearance reportedly took place before the August 8 edition of Collision, where he defeated Ortiz.

Since making his AEW dark match debut in December at Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, Borden has continued to receive opportunities to develop in front of AEW audiences.

His first AEW dark match saw him score a victory over Kiran Grey.

Tony Khan Previously Praised Borden’s Development

AEW President Tony Khan has spoken publicly about Borden’s progress in the company.

Earlier this year, Khan revealed that AEW was actively working on developing Sting’s son as an in-ring performer.

Khan described Borden’s growth as a wrestler as a significant focus for the company.

“We’re working on developing him as a pro wrestler for AEW.”

According to Khan, helping Borden continue his training and progression has been a priority for both himself and the promotion.

Wrestling Career Began In 2025

Borden’s professional wrestling journey officially began in October 2025.

His debut match took place at an ACW event, where he teamed with JD Drake in a losing effort against AEW’s Darby Allin and Killer Kross.

One month later, Borden made his singles debut for DEFY Wrestling, defeating Kiran Grey.

Since then, he has continued building experience both on the independent scene and through AEW’s developmental opportunities.

Sting’s Sons First Appeared In AEW During Revolution 2024

Many fans were first introduced to Steven and his brother Garrett Borden during AEW Revolution 2024, the event that served as Sting’s retirement match.

During the match, both brothers appeared dressed as different eras of Sting’s iconic career, helping create one of the most memorable moments of the Hall of Famer’s farewell.

According to Fightful, Garrett remains on AEW’s radar as he also trains to become a professional wrestler. However, the report noted that it could not confirm whether he is currently under contract with the company.

While AEW has yet to officially comment on Steven Borden’s contractual status, all indications suggest that Sting’s son remains a key developmental project as he continues working toward a larger role within the promotion.

Sting’s Son Steven Borden Preparing for First Wrestling Match This October

The Borden family legacy looks set to continue inside the squared circle. Steven Borden, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting, is reportedly preparing to make his in-ring debut this October.

Fans last saw Steven earlier this year at AEW Revolution 2024, where he and his brother Garrett paid tribute to their father during Sting’s emotional retirement match. Dressed in one of Sting’s classic looks, Steven even got physical, hitting the Young Bucks with his dad’s iconic Stinger Splashes in a memorable moment that had the wrestling world buzzing.

Now, according to PWInsider Elite, Steven is moving beyond cameos and stepping fully into the ring. His debut is scheduled for shows at New York’s 52 Walker gallery space on October 3 and October 10.

Training Under Darby Allin

What makes this debut even more fitting is who’s helping Steven prepare — none other than Darby Allin, Sting’s final tag team partner and one of the men most influenced by The Icon’s legendary career.

Allin reportedly began working with Steven shortly after Revolution, easing him into wrestling after the younger Borden had been reluctant to follow in his father’s footsteps. Earlier this year, Allin noted that Steven “has big shoes to fill” but emphasized that their training journey has been about respect, legacy, and giving back to Sting, who became both a mentor and friend to him in AEW.

A New Chapter for the Bordens

While Steven Borden made his mark as a football player at the University of Kentucky, his decision to step into the wrestling world is a significant moment. It’s not just about carrying the Sting name — it’s about seeing if the next generation can carve its own path.

Sting’s Son Reportedly Training To Be A Professional Wrestler

WWE Hall of Famer and former AEW World Tag Team Champion Sting retired earlier this year, wrestling his last match not only alongside Darby Allin but also his sons Steven and Garrett. Sting’s sons dressed up as versions of their father’s past, with Garrett playing “Surfer Sting” and Steven playing “Wolfpac Sting,” and it seems getting in the ring has lit a fire for the business under at least one of them.

Fightful Select is reporting that Steven Borden is currently training with Allin for a possible career in professional wrestling. Allin revealed the information in an interview set to be released on Thursday. Allin has a ring in his backyard, and the appearance at AEW Revolution inspired Sting’s scion to pursue wrestling training — Steven is said to be sleeping in Darby’s front yard in a tent while he trains. Steven, a college football player, had previously said he was hesitant about joining pro wrestling, calling his future in the business “murky,” but had noted the emotional high”he got from performing for fans.

Sting and Allin were ultimately successful at Revolution thanks to the help from the Bordens, defeating Matt and Nick Jackson in Sting’s final match. Sting and Allin then relinquished their World Tag Team Championship, which ended up back in the hands of The Jacksons at AEW Dynasty after they defeated FTR in a ladder match for the vacant titles, thanks to an assist by the returning Jack Perry.
