AEW President Tony Khan has shared an encouraging update on Steven Borden following the scary injury incident that took place during AEW All Out 2026 on Saturday night.
Borden, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting, was competing alongside Darby Allin against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight in a match to determine the next challengers for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. The bout came to an abrupt end after Borden and Knight collided during an aerial sequence, leaving Borden unconscious and forcing officials to stop the match.
Speaking during the AEW All Out post-show media scrum, Khan revealed that the news coming out of the hospital has been positive.
“I wanted to get down to business and say I’ve a great update. Thankfully, Steven Borden’s awake, responsive at the hospital, and he had a CT scan and all the tests have come back good. So far, all good results. We’re hopeful Steven’s going to be able to fly home tomorrow to his family. So that’s great news coming out of the pay-per-view,” Khan said.
The AEW CEO also noted that All Out was a physically demanding event for the roster, with multiple wrestlers reportedly dealing with injuries or being evaluated by medical staff following the show.
“We had a lot of wrestlers banged up, a lot of injuries, and with a lot of wrestlers getting checked out right now by the doctors, it’s going to be not as many guests tonight [for the presser],” Khan added.
The incident occurred during what was Steven Borden’s first match on an AEW pay-per-view. The match was immediately stopped after the collision, with Darby Allin visibly concerned as doctors checked on his partner inside the ring. Fletcher and Knight were subsequently awarded the victory via referee stoppage.
While the scene understandably caused concern among fans watching live, Khan’s update suggests that Steven Borden avoided a more serious outcome. With his CT scan and other tests reportedly returning positive results, AEW is optimistic that he will be able to travel home and continue his recovery with his family.
