#Raw1000 By The Numbers

The numbers are in for last night’s WWE Raw 1000 celebration and it’s good news! most watched program on cable and #3 on ALL of TV with over 6 million viewers.

It was a night of celebration and while in front of the cameras The Undertaker took on his on-screen persona backstage it was all one big reunion.

Viewpoint: Ed’s Take on #Raw1000

After live blogging for 3 hours and 15 minutes last night and having a blast doing it, how do I start with this post. My favorite moment (several), favorite match (again, more than one), biggest surprise (two huge ones, so I don’t know which to choose), best segment (it would be easy to say the entire show). So where do I go?

How about THANK YOU WWE and your entire staff, AND THANK YOU Mr. McMahon for what you did for us – the fans of the WWE Universe!

Check out how The Boss opened the show. And for everyone who thinks he is arrogant and cocky, this may shock you. How could Vince have been more humble than this:

Trevor has already hit on these two shockers – #Raw1000 Shockers: AJ Named Raw GM (@WWEAJLee) and #Raw1000 Shockers: C.M. Punk Turns Heel, WWE Universe Filled With Shock, Anger (VIDEO) (@CMPUNK) so I want to hit on three parts of the show that I think will go down in my own personal #Raw1000 memory bank.

First, is the DX reunion (PG Version). Of course it was great when HHH and HBK came out, but I really popped loud when HHH said, “Didn’t there used to be more of us”? Out comes The Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac and the band was back together. Check it out here:

Next let me share with you the Legends moment of the night where Lita was Heath Slater’s opponent but after Slater got a little over confident – she brings out the APA, yes Ron Simmons and JBL. That sent Slater headed back up the ramp but then, blearing from the speakers comes the words, “Whhhhhaaattttt A Rush”, that’s right Road Warrior Animal and ALL the Legends that have had a part in the weekly Heath Slater beat downs come down the ramp and throw Slater back into the ring. Aww heck, the video says it way better than I can so I will end this part with ONE word, Ron Simmons style – DAMN!!!!

Ok I do have to add, didn’t Lita look awesome with the Twist of Fate and the Moonsault from the top rope.

Finally, I loved the HHH/Brock Lesnar segment, and it may have been Paul Heyman and Stephanie McMahon who stole the segment, that and HHH clotheslining Lesnar over the top rope and out of the ring.

Ok, I can’t keep it to just three – I’ve got to include the “cold chill” moment of the night – the reunion of the Brothers of Destruction, The Undertaker and Kane.

#Raw1000 Shockers: AJ Named Raw GM (@WWEAJLee)

With all the media attention on Raw’s 1000th episode Monday night the fact that the folks in charge of creative were able to keep this from getting out should be applauded! The WWE Universe and AJ fans were in for a real surprise when it came time for the highly anticipated wedding between Daniel Bryan and AJ.

For all the hype fans were still left in the dark with little to no hints as to how the segment would turn out. It was clear to us as we’re sure it was to the WWE creative team that the WWE Universe did not want to see the couple wed.

After a long troubled relationship with Bryan AJ fans were eager to see something good happen to AJ and wow did the WWE deliver. During their vows AJ did anwser yes but not for the reason you would think.

We found out that earlier in the evening AJ was offered another proposal but not the kind you would think. It turned out to be a major business proposal from the boss himself Mr. McMahon. AJ was named the new general manager of Raw beginning next week.

Remember we reported earlier that the rock band “Green Day” is in St. Louis staying at one of the hotels the WWE superstars are staying. This new single “Oh Love” was just posted on July 16th!

WWE is expected to debut a new theme song for Raw tonight. Ditching the popular “Burn it to the ground” by rock group “Nickelback”. No word on what the new theme song will be at this time.

Earlier this morning reports circulated that there was an incident at the St. Louis airport between CM Punk and a fan. Punk refused to sign an autograph for the fan, who was said to have been rude which led to Punk throwing a fan’s autograph book in the trash, which prompted airport police to intervene. Punk responded to the incident on his Twitter, stating that the fan exhibited “unacceptable behavior.”
“One person ruins it for everybody. Sorry y’all,” Punk wrote. ” This is for all the respectful fans I saw at the airport. Right on. Thanks.”
When a fan implied that he may be getting a big head, Punk replied, “Nah. Just don’t like rude people.”

USA Today has an article promoting Raw’s 1000th episode in it they talk to AJ about the wedding storyline and much more

It sounds like an episode of Glee: An on-again, off-again couple finally decide to get engaged, and two separate dance numbers — one involving a disco ball — break out amid a heap of betrayal, wars of words and a few sneak attacks… The tattooed WWE champion CM Punk will defend his title against John Cena, the square-jawed face of the organization, in a battle of fan favorites, and there will be a “wedding” of that engaged couple, Daniel Bryan and his eccentric tomboy girlfriend AJ Lee.

On social media as well as in arenas, Lee is one of the most popular of the WWE’s female “Divas” and a rising star from a current love-triangle angle involving her “crazy chick” character, Bryan and Punk. (The spunky and diminutive Lee, who comes across as shy off-screen, also laid a big wet smooch on the much-larger Jacobs one night to make it a love rhombus for a time.) “I love the in-ring work, but as a fan I love the dramatic stuff more than anything,” says Lee, a self-admitted “nerd” who hopes to inspire little girls the same way WWE women did for her when she was 12. “This day and age, there needs to be a girl who’s not wearing as much makeup and isn’t that pampered-up and fancy. There’s a place for that, but there’s also a place for a girl I think fans want to hang out with and see themselves in.”

variety is running an article to promote tonight’s 1000th episode of Raw. In it Stephanie McMahon explains how the WWE plans to keep viewers attention for three hours with Raw’s new start time beginning tonight.

“We’re going to use social media in a more enhanced fashion,” besides just promotion, Stephanie McMahon Levesque, executive VP, creative for WWE, told Variety. “Our fans will affect some type of content in the show every week.”

Doing so “keeps your audience tuned into the broadcast for the entire three hours,” she believes. And if it works, the move could pave the way for other shows considering ways to keep distracted auds from changing channels.

We’ve been seeing conflicting reports regarding the current status of the AJ/Bryan wedding segment. A few sources are reporting that due to some big name appearances the wedding segment may be shortened to accommodate. Segments are expected to have final review in the early AM apparently. We’ll keep you posted if anything credible develops.
