Issues With Lucha Underground Broadcast Team

There have reportedly been some issues with the Lucha Underground broadcast team. Vampiro is said to have become a point of frustration with many in the company.

Sources have noted that Matt Striker often will feed Vampiro a line about the style or history of Lucha Libre, which Vampiro will dismiss or sound disinterested with. Vampiro has been criticized for not knowing some basic Lucha moves, as well as confusing babyfaces and heels. Vampiro’s audio track is often censored and requires extensive mixing in post production. A source says that Vampiro routinely uses foul language, which has caused the production team to spend hours adjusting the commentary.

Some in the company feel as if Matt Striker’s efforts are being compromised by Vampiro. It remains to be seen if the company will search for a replacement. Jim Ross was recently rumored to be in talks with Lucha Underground, however he told Raj Giri of WrestlingINC.com that he hadn’t had any talks with the organization.

Lucha Underground: A Different Kind Of Show

Lucha Underground El Rey Network

I seen the first 2 episodes of the new Lucha Libre show Lucha Underground on the El Rey Network and I found it to be a different kind of show from what you get with WWE or TNA. Lucha Underground features luchadores/wrestlers such as Blue Demon Jr., Mil Muertes (former TNA Star Judas Mesias), female luchadore Sexy Star, former WCW & TNA star Konnan who is mentoring Prince Puma, former WWE Star John Morrison (Johnny Mundo), former WWE star Ezekiel Jackson (Big Ryck), former WWE, WCW & TNA star Chavo Guerrero Jr. & commentators former WWE star Matt Striker & former WCW star Vampiro.

Lucha Underground lets the women compete against the men. In the first episode Son of Havoc ( Matt Cross) faced female luchadore Sexy Star. Son of Havoc got the win but it wasn’t easy, Sexy Star put up good fight. In the second episode Sexy Star teamed up with Chavo to defeat Son of Havoc & female luchadore Ivelisse. Son of Havoc ( Matt Cross) was on WWE’s Tough Enough. Ivelisse also was on WWE’s Tough Enough and appeared in WWE’s development promotion Florida Championship Wrestling and on WWE’s NXT and she also appeared on TNA Impact Wrestling in a Gut Check match. Later that night on episode 2 Blue Demon Jr. was being assaulted by Mil Muertes and Chavo came down & it appeared was to help Blue Demon Jr. but instead attacked him with a steel chair. Chavo then took out the refs & a few other luchadores. Sexy Star came down & pleaded for Chavo to stop but Chavo flattened her with a chair shot to her face. You just don’t see that in WWE or TNA.

So if your looking for something different than WWE or TNA then you might want to give Lucha Underground a try. Lucha Underground airs on the El Rey Network Wednesday nights at 8PM ET. If you don’t get El Rey you might find it On Demand that’s where I was able to watch it.
