Alberto Del Rio Charged in Domestic Violence Case, Released Under Conditions

Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, also known as Alberto El Patron (real name Alberto Rodriguez), is once again in legal trouble following a domestic violence incident in Mexico.

According to reports, Rodriguez was arrested earlier in the week after his wife contacted emergency services. Authorities from the State Civil Guard responded to the call and reportedly caught the situation in progress, noting visible injuries to the victim, including marks on her arms and face.

Following his arrest, Rodriguez was taken into custody and held at La Pila prison while the State of San Luis Potosí’s Attorney General’s Office built the case. By Saturday, he was formally charged and appeared before a judge.

During the hearing, Rodriguez reportedly admitted wrongdoing and expressed remorse. The court granted him a conditional release, which comes with several strict requirements. These include attending rehabilitation programs for aggressors, having no contact with the victim, and covering damages related to the incident.

Reports also indicate that this was not an isolated situation, with prior alleged incidents contributing to the severity of the case.

As part of the resolution, Rodriguez agreed to pay approximately 1 million pesos to the victim, which factored into the judge’s decision to allow his release.

This marks another serious legal issue for the former WWE Champion. Fans may recall his 2020 arrest in San Antonio on charges of sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. That case ultimately did not result in a conviction after the accuser failed to appear in court, and Rodriguez was acquitted in 2021.

Outside the courtroom, the fallout has already impacted his wrestling career. Rodriguez had previously been suspended from AAA following an incident involving fans in Tijuana. In light of this latest arrest, The Crash Lucha Libre has also suspended him.

With both legal and professional consequences mounting, Rodriguez’s future in the wrestling industry remains uncertain.

UPDATE: Alberto El Patron Remains in Custody Following Domestic Violence Arrest – Possibly Tried To Kill His Wife

Former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, also known as Alberto El Patron, is currently being held in custody following his recent arrest on domestic violence charges in Mexico.

According to reports, Rodriguez—whose real name is Alberto Rodriguez—appeared before a judge on Thursday in La Pila, where he remains detained. The hearing was conducted behind closed doors, reportedly to protect the privacy and well-being of his children. His wife, Mary Carmen Rodriguez Lucero, was in attendance as the judge ruled that Rodriguez will stay in preventive detention while the legal process moves forward.

The arrest stems from an incident earlier this week in which Rodriguez is accused of both verbal and physical abuse. Authorities were alerted after his wife contacted emergency services, and responding officers from the State Civil Guard reportedly arrived while the situation was still unfolding. Officials stated that visible injuries were found on Lucero’s arms and face, leading to Rodriguez being taken into custody at the scene.

The case is now being handled by the Attorney General’s Office of San Luis Potosí, with prosecutors continuing to gather evidence. It has also been assigned to a specialized unit that focuses on crimes involving women, family violence, and sexual offenses. Under local law, the charges Rodriguez faces could carry significant prison time, depending on how the case is ultimately classified.

This is not the first time Rodriguez has faced serious legal trouble. Back in 2020, he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, on charges of sexual and aggravated assault. That case stretched into late 2021 before ultimately being dismissed when the accuser did not appear in court.

In addition to his legal issues, Rodriguez’s wrestling career has seen its share of turbulence in recent years. He parted ways with AAA after being suspended following an incident involving fans in Tijuana.

As the situation develops, more details are expected to emerge regarding both the case and Rodriguez’s future in the wrestling industry.

According to Mexican reporter Gabriel Cuevas“And now this story is coming to light—that El Patrón, apparently—and I repeat this—yesterday intended to kill Marie Carmen.”

More Details Alberto Del Rio’s Arrest For Domestic Violence

Serious legal trouble is mounting for former WWE and AAA star Alberto Del Rio, as authorities in Mexico have now officially confirmed an investigation into his recent arrest.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí announced that it has opened a case against Del Rio—real name Alberto Rodriguez—following his detention earlier this week on domestic violence charges.

Initial reports surfaced Monday indicating Rodriguez had been arrested after an alleged altercation with his wife. According to those reports, she contacted emergency services during the incident and was left with visible injuries to her face and arms.

Authorities say State Civil Guard officers arrived on the scene while the situation was still unfolding. Upon arrival, they reportedly found the victim showing clear signs of physical violence, leading to Rodriguez being taken into custody immediately.

In an official update, the Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the case has been handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Women, Family and Sexual Crimes. The investigation will focus on both physical and verbal abuse allegations stemming from the incident.

According to the victim’s statement, the confrontation began inside a residence in the Lomas del Tecnológico neighborhood and escalated into multiple forms of assault.

Rodriguez is now under the authority of the Public Ministry, which will compile evidence and move the case forward. He is expected to appear before a judge in an initial hearing, where he will formally respond to the accusations.

This latest development adds to Del Rio’s long history of legal issues and controversy, and it remains to be seen how the case will unfold in the coming days.

The Crash Lucha Libre has announced Alberto Del Rio – real name Alberto Rodriguez – has been suspended indefinitely in light of his domestic violence arrest in Mexico on Monday.

Report: Former WWE Star Alberto Del Rio Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges in Mexico

Disturbing news has emerged out of Mexico involving former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio, real name Alberto Rodriguez, as multiple outlets are reporting that he has been arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident.

According to early reports from Milenio, which have since been echoed by other publications, Rodriguez was taken into custody in San Luis Potosí after an alleged altercation with his wife. Authorities claim the incident involved both physical and verbal abuse, with the victim reportedly sustaining visible injuries to her face and arms.

The situation escalated to the point where a 911 call was made, prompting State Civil Guard officers to respond. When officials arrived, they reportedly caught the incident in progress and observed signs of violence, leading to Rodriguez’s immediate arrest. He is now being held under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General’s Office in San Luis Potosí as the case moves forward.

This is not the first time Rodriguez has faced serious legal issues. Back in May 2020, he was arrested in San Antonio, Texas, following allegations that he assaulted and sexually abused his then-girlfriend. He was initially charged with sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm, later released on $50,000 bail. The case escalated to include aggravated kidnapping charges after a grand jury indictment, but after multiple delays, all charges were ultimately dropped in December 2021.

Rodriguez’s recent history in wrestling has also been turbulent. Prior to AAA’s acquisition by WWE, he had already been suspended from the promotion following an incident involving fans in Tijuana, which eventually led to his departure.

As of now, further details on the current case remain limited, but this is clearly a developing situation.

Update On Alberto El Patron’s Status With WWE & AAA

With WWE now officially owning AAA, several of the Mexican promotion’s top stars have already started finding their way onto WWE programming. But one name noticeably missing from the spotlight is Alberto El Patron — and his future remains very uncertain.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE inherited Patron’s AAA contract when they acquired the company. However, the former WWE Champion hasn’t been used on television, nor has he been featured in major AAA events like Worlds Collide or Triplemania.

Despite still having a strong fan following in Mexico — with crowds regularly chanting his name during AAA shows — WWE has no immediate creative plans for Patron. His history of personal controversies, combined with his rocky past relationship with WWE, has reportedly made the company hesitant about committing to him in any major capacity.

Patron most recently competed on September 26 at an AAA affiliate event, teaming with Mr. Iguana in a winning effort. But storyline-wise, he was written out of AAA after losing a “Loser Leaves Town” match, further fueling speculation about whether WWE will ever bring him back into the fold.

At this point, Patron’s future is up in the air. WWE may simply keep him under contract without using him, or they could look for a way to test the waters with a one-off appearance down the line. For now, though, fans hoping to see Alberto El Patron back on a big stage will have to keep waiting.

Former WWE Champion Suspended from Wrestling in Tijuana for 180 Days

A former WWE Champion has found himself in hot water south of the border.

Alberto El Patrón (formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE) has been suspended from wrestling in Tijuana, Mexico, for 180 days. The decision was handed down by the Tijuana Wrestling Commission following a controversial incident at a recent event.

Translated from Spanish by Google

“Alberto El Patrón (also known as Alberto del Río in WWE) has been suspended by the Tijuana Commission for six months due to what happened at a AAA event this past Friday.

During his main event match against Dr. Wagner Jr., Alberto confronted a fan who threw several coins at him, which angered him and prompted him to go look for him in the audience.

This got to the point where El Patrón threw a chair at the fan, only to be hit with another chair himself, starting a fight in which an elderly woman was injured and had to be taken to the hospital.

He will not be able to fight in Tijuana for the next 180 days.”

Below is a statement from the Tijuana Commission:

“In the city of Tijuana, Baja California, on the 17th day of March 2025, in the facilities of the honorable wrestling commission, located at 12421 Diaz Ordaz Boulevard, estate El Paraiso, zip code 22440, in an extraordinary meeting and with the presence of a legal quorum, it was determined that in accordance with the established in the wrestling regulations for the city of Tijuana, Baja California, it was determined that the wrestling regulations for the city of Tijuana, Baja California, would be in effect on the 17th day of March, 2025.
Tijuana Baja California.

The professional wrestler Alberto Del Rio is suspended for 180 days in the city of Tijuana.
In the city of Tijuana, Baja California on the 17th day of the month of March, 2025, the present notice is hereby given, for all the effects that may be applicable, at the offices of the Honorable Wrestling Commission, in the city of Tijuana, Baja California”.

While specific details about what led to the suspension remain unclear, it’s not the first time El Patrón has faced issues outside the ring. The former WWE Champion has had a history of controversies throughout his career, both professionally and personally. This latest development could have significant implications for his status in the Mexican wrestling scene, as Tijuana is a major hub for lucha libre promotions.

El Patrón has continued to wrestle on the independent circuit following his last WWE run, making appearances in various promotions across the U.S. and Mexico. However, this suspension could limit his opportunities in one of Mexico’s most active wrestling markets.

It remains to be seen if El Patrón will address the suspension publicly or if any appeals will be made. For now, he will have to sit on the sidelines in Tijuana for the next six months.

Alberto Del Rio Indicted For Aggravated Kidnapping By Grand Jury In Texas

Alberto Del Rio, the former WWE Champion, was indicted on Thursday by a grand jury in San Antonio, TX, on charges of aggravated kidnapping, according to a report on PWI Insider.

As reported back in May, Del Rio was arrested and subsequently charged with a second degree sexual assault felony and aggravated kidnapping. Although Thursday’s court order lists the primary charge as aggravated kidnapping, it is unclear if the sexual assault charge resulted in an indictment as well.

The report added that a trial date has yet to be set. Del Rio, who had been out on a $50,000 bond, is slated to be arraigned on Friday, as per court records.

Del Rio was arrested on May 5th, 2020, after the victim approached local authorities in San Antonio and stated that the professional wrestler allegedly grew enraged with her after accusing her of infidelity. She also alleged that Del Rio physically assaulted her.

The victim had also alleged that Del Rio “slapped her across the head” several times and “forced her to wear a dress and dance for him” after she would not admit to the infidelity. Furthermore, Del Rio allegedly threatened to take the victim’s son and “drop him in the middle of the road somewhere.”

The FOX affiliate in San Antonio also provided additional details which noted that Del Rio allegedly “tied the woman’s hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and sexually assaulted her for several hours, using various objects.”

In the state of Texas, a conviction for aggravated kidnapping, if punishable in the first degree, could lead to a jail sentence ranging from 5-99 years or life imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $10,000. However, if the accused is convicted of aggravated kidnapping in the second degree, they could face anywhere from 2-20 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000.

Paige To Alberto El Patron: “Don’t Make Fun Of Someone With Mental Health Issues” (AUDIO)

WWE star Paige has responded to former fiancé Alberto El Patron taking a shot at her mental health last month on social media, saying his comments hurt her feelings.

The SD Live GM made the comments during an interview with Lilian Garcia on the latest episode of “Chasing Glory.” During the conversation, Garcia brought up the post in which Del Rio compared his current girlfriend to Paige and said this one hasn’t been “committed in 2 mental hospitals.”

“Don’t make fun of someone who has mental health issues,” Paige said. “Because he knew at that point how depressed and how, like I was on rock bottom, and how I wanted to kill myself. He knew all that stuff. So to throw that out there like that — it’s pretty mean.”

Paige has gone on record about the dark spell she experienced after her XXX footage leaked online. That was followed by a tumultuous break-up with Del Rio that included a handful of incidents where police were called. The couple was engaged to be married but separated in 2017.

“I thought over a year of us not being together, I never expected him to bring me up again. So, I was just like, I’m not even going to respond to that right now,” she added.

Paige also says she didn’t immediately respond because she didn’t want Del Rio to know it hurt her.

“You don’t talk like that about a women — especially on the Internet for everyone to see. Just keep your mouth shut,” she told Garcia. “If you don’t like me, that’s fine. We haven’t had any contact for over a year. It baffles me.”

She went on to say she’s in a good place now and the happiest she’s been in quite sometime. Paige said she’s enjoyed using her personal experience to help other women who are struggling.

Paige also talks about her in-ring career ending during the full interview and so much more.

Alberto El Patron On Why He No-Showed Last Friday’s Impact Wrestling Vs. Lucha Underground Event

Image result for alberto el patron impact

Alberto El Patron was interviewed by Sporting News to promote tonight’s Combate Americas MMA event. Below are a couple of highlights:

No-showing last Friday’s Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground card, which resulted in Impact releasing him:

“I had a family situation that I needed to attend (to). As you know, my family, my kids are my priority. The situation was involving them and that’s why I decided to take care of business and take care of my family situation. And that’s all that happened. And that comes to what I was just saying to you. I know people wanted to know absolutely everything. This only concerns my family: my parents, my sister, myself and my kids. And that’s the way it’s going to stay.”

How he is doing now following the events from last weekend:

“I’m fine. Of course, it’s difficult because it’s never good to go that way. Our relationship wasn’t pretty good or completely good. And this was just something that ended up breaking it. I’m fine, I guess. I’m going to do what I was planning on doing, as everybody knows I planning on leaving the pro wrestling business in the next year. I have said it several times over and over. And it’s because of some of these things where everybody thinks they can get their nose into your business. Is it right to know absolutely everything about you? It’s not.

“I’m just going to continue to do that and doing my stuff here, in Mexico like exactly how I was doing it and sometime next year and say goodbye to the pro wrestling business.”
