The final member of the Four Horsewomen of MMA, Jessamyn Duke, made her in-ring debut alongside Shayna Baszler and Marina Shafir in Saturday night’s NXT main event in Largo, Florida. The trio took on Deonna Purrazzo, Kairi Sane, and Io Sharai (also her debut). Baszler would tap out Purrazzo while the other two women kept Sane and Sharai from breaking things up.

As noted, it looks like WWE will do the Four Horsewomen vs. Four Horsewomen match at the Survivor Series PPV on November 18 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE’s Horsewomen are Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch while MMA’s Horsewomen are Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Baszler, and Duke. Angles were planned and filmed for the match in 2017, but things didn’t transpire. There’s been recent talk of doing the match and word is that teases are being sent out, possibly an angle will begin at WWE Evolution.

Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir On A Potential Showdown Between MMA & WWE Four Horsewomen

Image result for Jessamyn Duke & Marina Shafir on a potential showdown with WWE's "Faux" Horsewomen

As noted, WWE recently signed Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, putting all four of MMA’s Horsewomen in the company as they already have Ronda Rousey and WWE NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler signed. Below is new backstage video of Cathy Kelley talking to Duke and Shafir. Shafir brought Troy along for the interview, who is her son with NXT Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong.

Shafir says it’s been brutal since signing with WWE but they are elite athletes and they get right back up. They hope to have similar success as Rousey and Baszler but as elite athletes this is just another place to conquer. Duke says the other Horsewomen have set good examples and they hope to accomplish similar things. Regarding the Mae Young Classic confrontation with WWE’s Horsewomen, Shafir hopes the training will lead to something between the two groups. Duke calls them the “Faux” Horsewomen and believes that something will happen in the future.

Jessamyn Duke Wrestling Training Photos

As reported yesterday MMA 4 Horsewomen Jessamyn Duke has begun wrestling training at Santino Bros Wrestling Academy in Southern California earlier this week during a seminar taught by NJPW’s Rocky Romero.

Jessamyn’s move is interesting, since last month she and her fellow Four Horsewomen had an on-camera encounter with the Four Horsewomen of NXT during a Mae Young Classic match featuring Shayna Baszler.  Furthermore, TMZ reported in 2014 that Rousey was only interested in a WrestleMania match if her crew were also involved.

Let the speculation continue.

Here are some photos:

She was working out in a class run by Rocky Romero at the Santino Brothers pro wrestling school in Southern California. Duke is friends with Shayna Baszler, who is in the Mae Young Classic. WWE’s Four Horsewomen Face-Off With MMA’s Version At Mae Young Classic Taping (VIDEO)

four horsewomen wwe mma mae young classic

The unspoken rivalry between The Four Horsewomen of WWE and The Four Horsewomen of MMA escalated on Friday during the Mae Young Classic … and the video is pretty awesome!

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley were sitting ringside during last night’s Mae Young Classic taping … and tensions began to flare up during one of Shayna Baszler’s matches while Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were seated on the opposite side.

Things picked up though after Baszler taunted Lynch, Flair and Bayley — leading to an across the aisle face off, where both sides flashed fours at each other.

It remains to be seen what this will lead to, but a few years ago Ronda was interested in working a WWE match at WrestleMania with her friends — could the seeds be starting to plant here?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The good, the bad and the ugly of being a fight fan: from the prospective of a fan turned friend

If you’ve been following this site for the past 3 years you know that I’m the resident MMA fan in the crew. It was my accidental stumble into the fight world that allowed us to cover the sport of MMA on our site. Through interviews, social networking and some really crazy shit I found myself falling in love with MMA, even more so then professional wrestling. However if you would’ve asked me if I thought I’d be where I am now a few years ago I would’ve smiled and said “I wish”

This past weekend was InvictaFC16 and thanks to some really cool people I was there in Vegas as it went down live. This marked my second invicta event this year (and there’s many more where that came from) It was a fantastic card with every fight delivering.

For me personally there were lots of happy tears and lots of sad tears. Watching fights live is something I can’t really explain, you get so wrapped into it and you almost feel like you’re the one in the cage. That feeling intensifies when it’s your friend locked in there and in my case that happened twice.

First up was The Happy Warrior Roxanne Modaferri. Prior to the fight I had communicated with her via Twitter and Facebook. She was kind enough to be interviewed by me a few years ago but other than that we didn’t know much about each other outside of social media. That is until this past week of course. I met her for the first time the morning of weigh ins. She embraced me like she knew me for years

A few hours pass and before you know it is was time for the fighters to weigh in. As always Roxy had something awesome up her sleeve. She dressed up as Melina from Mortal Kombat and our friends accompanied her to the stage. It was the moment that stole the show and I was thrilled to be able to say “those guys are my friends”

The fill good moments of the weigh ins didn’t stop for me there though because up next on the scales where Jessamyn Duke and Irene Aldana. Again if you’ve been following this site you know the history with Jessamyn and myself goes deep. It’s been on my bucket list for quite sometime to see her fight live. I made a promise to myself that if I ever got that chance I would make her a sign and well I made  good on that promise.

The sign reads “You’re my hero Jessamyn Duke” words that carry so much weight. I screamed loud and she looked right over at me and pointed. Later in the week I would find out how much that sign really meant to her and it’s a moment I’ll always be proud to have been a part of.

Friday night was fight night and from the moment I woke up my stomach was in knots. Two of my friends would be going to war that day and all I wanted was the best outcome. Roxanne’s fight was 5th on the card. Seeing her make her way to the cage as Deanna Bennett was staring her down did things to my heart that I didn’t think possible. Roxy ended up getting the split decision win against Benett and as expected my friends and I were overjoyed. She came out and hugged us all and even say in the crowd with us to enjoy the rest of the fights.

I couldn’t let my overwhelming sense of happiness distract me from the next fight though because it was time for Aldana and Duke to go to battle

I watched on like my life depended on it. It’s a tough pill to swallow but Irene Aldana came out of the exchange victorious as she put Jessamyn Duke away with a TKO victory in the first round. I instantly felt the hot tears run down my face as my friend candy and Aldana’s family celebrated only a few inches from me. My heart broke for Jess and I felt like I too had lost.

The great thing about the fight world though is that as much as it hurts you know you can’t win them all. You know that it’s just another day in the life. You know that your fighter will bounce back. I got to see Jess right after her fight and we had a moment where we both cried. She buried her face in my shoulder. I told her she’d be back, she replied with an “I know” followed by “I’m so happy to have you in my coroner”.

That’s when it hit me…… I love this sport. I love the cheers, the tears, the violence, the sportsmanship, I love it all. I don’t know exactly how or why I got into this sport but I do know it’s where I am now and as long as I have a friend to cheer for I’m not going anywhere.

It’s the first time the my heart experienced pure joy and pure heartache all in the span of 30 mins. This sport will step on your heart more times than you count but it’ll also leave you with a sence of happiness and pride you’ll never be able to shake.

Invicta16 is an experience I’ll never forget. Not only did it enforce my motto of Loyalty is everything but it also reminded me that life is filled with good and bad moments and those moments shape you into the person you are. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m 100% completely in love with the world of MMA. I’ve gained so many amazing friends and although we may not always agree we know that the fight world created a bond that can never be broken.

It’s one invicta in the books and another one is just around the corner. On May 7th the promotion returns to California as Tonya Evinger will defend her Bantamweight title against Colleen Schneider. A fight that will have me torn. Both Evinger and Schneider have been nothing but kind to me.

I had breakfast with Evinger for 3 straight days while in Vegas. I’ve seen Schneider train and have connected with her because of Shayna and Jessamyn. I already told myself that I’m simply just watching this fight. No matter the outcome one friend wins while the other looses. It’s going to be s bitter sweet moment but one that I’m prepared to face because I love these moments

If I could give any advice to a fight fan I’ll say this. It won’t always go the way you want it to. Your favorites will fight your favorites and in my case friends will fight friends, but don’t let that discourage you. Live it up. Cheer who you want to cheer. Boo who you want to boo, but know that every man or woman who steps in that cage is human too. One with real feelings and a life to live. They do it because the love what they do. Just like we love what we do! Love the sport, be a smart fan and remember Loyalty is everything.

Jessamyn Duke Learns Gutwrench Suplex With Shayna Baszler

UFC Fighter and one of the 4 Horsewomen of MMA Jessamyn Duke posted the following video on Instagram of her learning how to do a gutwrench suplex with fellow 4 Horsewomen Shayna Baszler, who recently made her pro wrestling debut.

The General speaks out (Vanessa’s perspective)

To be honest I never thought I would be writing a piece partaining to this situation but nearly a year later here we are.

Before reading this though you should read Shayna and Jessamyn’s statements about the events first which were released yesterday.

You can do so here http://thesportspost.com/blogs/view/mma-jessamyn-duke-shayna-baszler-street-fight

However if you’ve already read their statement you know what this article will contain and as you probably already guest I’m the “super fan turned friend” refered to in the article.

For the people who have been following our site for quite sometime you may recall a time where we did a special show in which I needed prayer, you may also recall me taking a break from the site due to personal issues, and further more if you’re a follower of the site you know myself a long with the rest of them team have tons of love for Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. Well if you ever wondered why to any of the things listed above this is why.

Now I’m not going to retell the whole entire story because you can read the girls statement for that and quite honestly I don’t want to relive that again.

What I will tell you though are things that happened that weren’t mentioned but I hold near and dear to my heart. (Feel special this is a big deal for me)

As you know we were all waiting for my ride which should’ve been there hours ago. As said in the other article (reefer to above) i insisted to Shayna, Jessamyn and Justin that I was perfectly ok waiting alone but being the awesome people they are they wernt having it.

What wasn’t mentioned that at one point I geeked out over watching the sunset with three bad ass fighters, or that Jessamyn bought me a very berry Hibiscus (my favorite drink from Starbucks) or that Justin gave me some of his food because it was  obvious that I was hungry even though I turned down the offer of said food about three times, or that when it got cold (I didn’t ask for help but received it anyway) in the form of Shayna helping me get my hoodie on. In fact I recall her saying “see arnt your glad we’re here to help”? And boy was I.

Here comes the part that still makes me emotional but also smile like a kid in a candy story. After the incident took place as one could imagine I was pretty distraught. I was sitting in the back of the war wagon (Shayna’s car) crying my eyes out and Jessamyn looks straight at me (bloodied face and all) and says: “hey Vanessa don’t cry. I’d take a baseball bat to the face for you any day and if that’s not love I don’t know what love is” (GUYS THATS LOVE)

The sweetness doesn’t stop there through because both Shayna and Justin also offered words of encouragement that day. I remember crying to justin telling him that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next because I knew I didn’t want to be where I lived at the time and I continued to tell him that my family situation was a bit complicated to which he apologized saying: “Sorry if we made it worse for you” to which I assured him that wasn’t the case and if anything they made it better. Justin then went on and thanked me for all the support I give and that from this moment on they would have my back.

While still crying, came the last heart to heart of that night and it involved Shayna and I. She was still outside waiting to be questioned by the cops as I sat in her car (which is very comfortable might I add) the window happened to be rolled down and she managed to stick her hand through the open space. She took my hand and looked me square in the eyes and said “hey don’t feel bad about anything that happened tonight none of it is your fault” she then asked me “what’s the number one thing in the Queens Army” to which I replied LOYALTY and her response  was :”that’s right, you’re loyal to me and I’m loyal to you, don’t ever forget that”

In truth I think that day was the day The General was born. I mean sure fellow MMA fans had been calling me that for quite sometime but these events made it official.

In all honesty Jessamyn, Shayna and Justin saved my life that day. They put their lives in danger to defend my honor because let’s be real it could’ve been far worse then it was. Yes it was a shitty situation but it turned out for the better for me and started a friendship that I never dreamed of having.

So next time you wonder why I’m constantly defending these fighters here’s your answer. They’re my heroes.
