Chelsea Green Reveals Broken Ankle Following SmackDown Injury

Chelsea Green’s week just went from bad to worse.

After initially being believed to have suffered a sprained ankle on WWE SmackDown, the former WWE Women’s United States Champion has now confirmed the injury is far more serious. Taking to X for another installment of her tongue-in-cheek “Chelsea Chronicles,” Green revealed that she actually broke her ankle.

The injury occurred during last Friday’s Elimination Chamber qualifying match, where Green faced Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. While early reports suggested a sprain — with additional testing pending — Green first hinted that things were more severe earlier this week. She posted a photo showing significant bruising on her ankle, along with a humorous list of “demands” directed at WWE management.

Before that, she teased the situation in true Chelsea fashion, telling her loyal “Patri-Hots” that she had survived a “near-fatal fall” and suffered a “career-threatening injury.” Now, the diagnosis has been made official: it’s a broken ankle.

As of this writing, Green has not disclosed how long she expects to be sidelined.

The injury also forced her to miss AAA’s event over the weekend, where she had been scheduled to defend the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship alongside NXT’s Ethan Page. La Hiedra stepped in as her replacement, but the duo ultimately dropped the titles to Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana.

Green had already experienced a rocky start to the year after losing the Women’s United States Championship to Giulia on the January 2 edition of SmackDown. More recently, her name trended among fans following comments made by longtime backstage producer Michael Hayes on WWE Unreal, where he suggested Green was not “world championship material.” The remark sparked backlash online, with fans — and her ever-supportive “Patri-Hots” — rallying behind her across social media.

Now, Green faces a physical setback on top of the recent professional hurdles. If her past resilience and ability to turn adversity into entertainment are any indication, however, don’t expect her to stay out of the spotlight for long — even if she’ll be doing so on one good ankle for the foreseeable future.

Piper Niven Declares Herself Chelsea Green’s New Partner, Claims Title Belt On WWE Raw

Chelsea Green didn’t have to look too hard to find a new tag team partner to help her defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship after Sonya Deville suffered a torn ACL, leaving her out of action indefinitely. On Monday’s episode of “WWE Raw,” Piper Niven declared herself Green’s new partner and took one of the title belts off of Green’s shoulder, seemingly getting her first taste of championship gold (outside of the defunct 24/7 title) in WWE.

In a backstage segment, it looked as though Adam Pearce was going to strip Green of the championships due to Deville’s inability to compete. Green argued with Pearce, saying she had worked too hard for the titles to see them vacated. Pearce asked Green what she would do in his situation, and she said she would “hold auditions,” which she had been doing on social media throughout the day leading up to the show, calling the video segments “Chelsea’s Got Talent.” Green was confronted by Kayden Carter and Katana Chance who said they wanted a shot at the titles when Green received a new partner.

Auditions never got underway on “Raw,” however, as Niven burst in attacks Carter and Chance and declared herself Green’s new partner. Green said Niven should submit her name, number, and Instagram handle to be considered, but Niven simply grabbed the title belt and reiterated that she was Green’s new partner. It seems Green and Niven will now be partnering as Women’s Tag Team Champions moving forward on WWE programming — their first match together has not yet been set up, but Niven did attack Katana Chance and Kayden Carter during the segment.

Green and Deville won the championships from Liz Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez on an episode of “Raw” last month.

Chelsea Green Returning To WWE, Deal Signed ‘Quite Some Time’ Ago, Update On Matt Cardona And Kylie Rae

Many fans have speculated that Chelsea Green was returning to WWE after finishing up with Impact Wrestling late last year following reports that WWE was interested in bringing her back.

Fightful Select has updates on the contract status of three wrestlers, including Green.

Per the report, Green has been under contract with WWE “for quite some time and is still awaiting creative.”

Another indication that Green was headed to WWE was her recently shutting down her Onlyfans page. Major Pod also had to limit the new Chelsea Green merchandise production due to her signing.

With multiple reports that Green was being brought back, there was speculation that her husband, Matt Cardona, could be on his way back to the company. WWE sources have indicated that “Cardona is not signed, but that we shouldn’t rule anything out for the future.”

Finally, Kylie Rae is reportedly still a free agent despite being brought in for a tryout and appearing on WWE Main Event, which led to speculation that she’d been signed.

Chelsea Green Officially Quits IMPACT Wrestling Amid WWE Return Rumors

Chelsea Green is officially gone from IMPACT Wrestling.

During Thursday’s night episode of IMPACT! on AXS TV, Green lost to former IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James. In a backstage promo with Deonna Purrazzo, Green was upset that she didn’t beat Mickie James.

“I was supposed to beat her,” Green said. “I was supposed to retire Mickie James, Deonna. I’m going. I’m going home. Deonna, I’m going home.”

As noted, in several reports, she was reportedly a name that had “garnered interest from WWE,” and there had been an “internal discussion to bring a seasoned veteran like Green” back into the company. In a recent interview with WrestleZone, Green revealed that she had unfinished business at WWE.

“I have unfinished business at WWE, period, Green said. “But I would go into it totally different than I did the last time, and I think that’s also the beauty of growing up.”

Green was released from WWE back in April 2021. She signed with the company in August 2018 and worked on the “NXT” brand until she was called up to the main roster in November 2020. Her main roster debut was on the November 13 episode of “SmackDown,” and in her debut match, she broke her wrist. The match was a Survivor Series Qualifying Four Way, which Liv Morgan won. Natalya and Tamina were also in the qualifier. Green’s first main roster match sadly ended up being her last match in WWE since she was released while sidelined with her wrist injury.

Chelsea Green Suffers Injury During NXT TV Taping

Former Impact Wrestling star Chelsea Green wrestled at Full Sail University last night for the first time during the NXT TV tapings and suffered an injury in her match.

Green announced the injury via social media and wrote:

Today I had the opportunity to wrestle for the first time at Full Sail for WWE NXT, after years of dreaming of it! Wow, it was everything I had imagined it would be!!! Of course, with this job comes occupational hazards. Unfortunately, I broke my wrist mid-match & will require surgery first thing tomorrow morning. It sucks. I’m upset, I’m angry, I’m sore… but I’ll be back soon. This is just a tiny bump in the road to many goals I have set for 2019! Oh yeah…I won the match.

Chelsea Green signed with WWE in October 2018.

Former Impact Wrestling stars Robbie E and Chelsea Green are among the wrestlers attending a tryout this week at the WWE Performance Center.

NXT‘s Instagram account shared videos from the first day and both Chelsea — aka Laurel Van Ness — and Robbie are seen working out with other WWE hopefuls.

As you may recall, Green was on the 2015 season of Tough Enough alongside current NXT/WWE stars Velveteen Dream, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. She made her departure from Impact earlier this year and filmed episodes for the current season of Lucha Underground.

Robbie left Impact in September of last year and has since focused on outside projects related to fitness, while still wrestling on the independent scene.

Both can be seen in the video (Chelsea is in a Disney shirt and Robbie is on the ring apron) at the link below:

Impact Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness (Chelsea Green) Confronts Fan At Indie Show Over Derogatory Comments (Video)

Current Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Laurel Van Ness, known on the independent circuit by her real name Chelsea Green, was recently involved in an altercation at an indie show with a fan. Green was competing at a PWA Canada event when spectators reported that a fan shouted at her to “take it off,” basically calling her a stripper.

Green later confronted the fan at a concession stand. The person then got in her face and threatened her, stating that he will call the Hells Angels biker club, and also said that he was going to punch her. After having the confrontation, Green walked away from the fan and turned around to quickly give a few more expressions, as seen in the video below.

According to a fan account, the man walked out of the building after getting embarrassed by Green. Green went to Twitter and commented on the incident:

Fellow indy wrestler Ethan Page, known in Impact Wrestling as Joseph Park’s brother Chandler, also chimed in on the incident, stating that is was “the most Un-Canadian thing to happen in Canada.” Despite this incident, Green still thanked PWA for having her, and stated that he “can’t wait to come back.”

On television, Green, as Lauren Van Ness, is currently feuding with Allie over the Knockouts Championship. She is scheduled to defend the title against Allie at the upcoming Impact Wrestling episode. This match was taped in January, as Green is no longer with the company.
