AAA has officially found its new general manager, and the promotion turned to one of the most legendary names in lucha libre history to fill the role.
During this week’s episode of AAA on FOX, WWE Hall of Famer and AAA icon Rey Mysterio was revealed as the company’s new General Manager. The announcement came weeks after AAA President Marisela Peña stated the promotion was actively searching for someone to lead the brand into its next chapter.
The reveal took place in front of a packed crowd at Gimnasio Olímpico in Mexico City. Peña, Dorian Roldán, several AAA legends, and current roster members gathered in and around the ring for the ceremony before introducing Mysterio to a massive ovation from the crowd.
Following the announcement, Mysterio addressed the fans and reflected on the significance of the moment. The legendary luchador described the opportunity as a full-circle moment in his career, noting that his journey in professional wrestling began in AAA. He also promised to help guide the promotion into a new era that both talent and fans can be proud of.
Not everyone appeared thrilled with the decision, however.
AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio was shown backstage during the segment and did not look pleased about his father taking over as General Manager. The reaction immediately raised questions about possible future tension between the father-and-son duo inside AAA storylines.
Before Mysterio was selected, Dorian Roldán and WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield were both reportedly candidates for the position.
AAA now turns its attention toward Noche de los Grandes in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Night one of the event is scheduled for next Saturday and will feature four matches, including a heavily promoted Mask vs. Mask match between El Grande Americano and “The Original” El Grande Americano.
An important update has surfaced regarding Ludwig Kaiser’s legal situation, as new court records indicate the WWE star will still be permitted to travel for work while his battery case remains active.
According to recently filed documents, Kaiser’s attorney submitted a supplemental motion requesting approval for both out-of-state and international travel. The filing also notes that Kaiser’s legal team has already spoken with Florida Assistant State Attorney Shaylynne Kotch, who reportedly does not oppose the request.
Part of the filing states:
“Since the initial filing of the Motion to Travel, undersigned counsel communicated with Assistant State Attorney Shaylynne Kotch, who indicated no objection to this motion.”
The motion then asks the court to formally allow Kaiser to continue traveling domestically and internationally while the case proceeds.
Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, was arrested earlier this week in Orange County, Florida after turning himself in over an alleged April 23 altercation at his Orlando apartment complex. He was later released after posting a $1,000 bond. Court records reportedly list fellow WWE star Gunther (Walter Hahn) as the person who paid the bond amount.
The incident stems from an encounter involving another resident in the building. According to the arrest report, the alleged victim claimed Kaiser and a woman were behaving in an “uncontrollably intimate” manner inside an elevator. After reportedly telling them to “please have some manners,” the victim alleged Kaiser punched him multiple times and shoved him to the ground.
Authorities later reviewed surveillance footage near the elevator area and identified Barthel as the suspect. The alleged victim also reportedly identified Kaiser during a photo lineup conducted by investigators.
As part of his release conditions, Kaiser has been ordered to avoid contact with victims and witnesses connected to the case. He was also granted a single supervised visit back to the apartment complex while accompanied by law enforcement.
WWE has not issued any public statement regarding the situation as of this writing.
The travel approval is especially significant given Kaiser’s upcoming AAA commitments. He is currently scheduled to compete as El Grande Americano at AAA Noche de Los Grandes in Mexico, where he is expected to face Chad Gable in a mask vs. mask match tied to their ongoing storyline rivalry.
There had been uncertainty surrounding Kaiser’s ability to appear at the event following news of the arrest. However, AAA later announced on social media that the match involving El Grande Americano had been reinstated after initially being pulled from promotional plans.
Noche de Los Grandes is set to take place May 30 in Arena Monterrey.
More information has surfaced regarding Ludwig Kaiser’s recent battery arrest, and a new report is painting a very different picture from the version outlined in official court documents.
According to journalist Raj Giri, the incident that led to Kaiser’s arrest may have escalated after an alleged threat involving ICE was directed at Kaiser’s girlfriend, WWE and AAA personality Andrea Bazarte.
Giri reported that Kaiser and Bazarte were together in an elevator at the Paramount on Lake Eola Apartments in Orlando when the incident began. While the two were reportedly being affectionate, the report claims nothing appeared excessive or disruptive. The alleged victim, identified as Richard Reap, reportedly remained silent during the elevator ride.
However, after exiting on the 12th floor, Reap allegedly made a comment along the lines of, “You need to show some f—in’ respect before I call ICE on that b—h.” According to Giri’s account, Kaiser then exited the elevator and a physical confrontation followed. The report claims the altercation involved a scuffle, though no punches were allegedly thrown.
That account differs heavily from the details included in the arrest warrant issued by the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orlando.
The warrant states the incident occurred on April 23, 2026, around 6:30 PM. Reap reportedly told authorities that Kaiser and Bazarte were behaving in an “uncontrollably intimate” manner inside the elevator. After asking the pair to “please have some manners” upon exiting, Reap alleged Kaiser responded violently by punching him multiple times, knocking him to the ground, and threatening additional harm.
Police documentation reportedly noted a scratch on the back of Reap’s head as well as visible redness that officers believed was consistent with a recent altercation.
Kaiser was arrested on May 20 and later released from Orange County Corrections after posting $1,000 bond.
The situation arrives at a difficult time professionally for Kaiser, who is currently involved in a featured WWE and AAA crossover storyline connected to the El Grande Americano angle. Bazarte has also played a visible role in the ongoing story.
Kaiser is currently scheduled to headline AAA Noche de los Grandes on May 30 at Arena Monterrey, where he is expected to face Chad Gable in a mask vs. mask match. With the arrest now public, questions have emerged regarding whether the case could affect Kaiser’s ability to travel internationally for the event.
AAA has already canceled the “Serenata para El Grande Americano” promotional event that had been planned for May 21 in Mexico City, though no official reason was given.
As of now, neither WWE nor AAA has publicly addressed the arrest or confirmed whether Kaiser’s status for Noche de los Grandes has changed.
The event card currently includes appearances by Bayley, Dominik Mysterio, Penta Zero Miedo, The War Raiders, Pagano, and Psycho Clown, and is scheduled to air on Fox and Fox One.
This is what I heard regarding the Ludwig Kaiser situation. He was in the apartment elevator with Andrea Bazarte and they were being affectionate, but nothing crazy or out of the ordinary.

Santos Escobar’s in-ring future just took an unfortunate turn, as a lingering injury has reportedly gotten worse and will now require surgery.
According to reports from Fightful Select, Escobar originally hurt his tricep during an NXT live event in January while facing El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. Despite the setback, he continued working through the injury at the time, believing it wasn’t anything too serious. However, that assumption turned out to be off the mark.
The situation escalated during AAA’s Rey de Reyes event on March 14, where Escobar competed in a four-way match against the two El Grande Americanos and La Parka. It was in that match that the injury was aggravated, and it has since been confirmed to be a torn tricep rather than a minor issue. As a result, Escobar is now scheduled to undergo surgery, which is expected to sideline him for an extended period.
The timing is particularly rough given Escobar’s recent career trajectory. After hitting free agency, he re-signed with WWE in October despite earlier frustrations with creative direction. Since returning, his presence on WWE programming has been minimal—he hasn’t wrestled on television and has only worked a handful of NXT house shows, along with appearances in AAA.
There have also been rumblings about dissatisfaction on multiple fronts. Reports suggest Escobar hasn’t been thrilled with how he’s been utilized in WWE, while some within AAA reportedly haven’t been overly impressed with his recent performances either.
Now, with surgery looming and recovery ahead, Escobar faces yet another hurdle at a time when momentum has already been hard to come by. How WWE handles his return once he’s cleared will be something to watch closely.
Legendary lucha libre star and longtime wrestling personality Konnan is reportedly dealing with a serious health situation after undergoing major surgery this week.
According to multiple reports coming out of Mexico, the AAA Hall of Famer was hospitalized in San Diego, California and underwent a procedure to amputate one of his legs due to ongoing medical complications. The initial information surfaced through the wrestling content creator “El Potro en el Ring” and was later picked up by several media outlets. As of the latest updates, Konnan is said to be in a delicate condition following the surgery.
While Konnan has generally kept the details of his medical struggles private over the years, the wrestling veteran has battled a number of health issues for quite some time. One of the most significant came in 2007 when he required a kidney transplant after suffering organ failure. More recently, he dealt with serious complications after contracting COVID-19 in early 2021, which reportedly led to additional kidney problems and heart-related issues.
Beyond those challenges, Konnan has also undergone multiple orthopedic procedures throughout the years, including a hip replacement. Despite these obstacles, he has remained an active and influential figure within the wrestling world.
Konnan’s impact on the industry spans several decades. Since the 1990s, he has been closely associated with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, helping shape the promotion both on-screen and behind the scenes. AAA itself made headlines last year after being acquired by WWE, further highlighting the organization’s global influence.
Fans in the United States may also remember Konnan from his time in WCW during the height of the Monday Night Wars, as well as his later roles across promotions such as MLW, AEW, Impact Wrestling, and TNA. In recent years, he’s been widely recognized for managing the Latin American Xchange (LAX), one of the most popular factions in modern tag team wrestling.
In addition to his in-ring and on-screen contributions, Konnan has played a key role in helping bring Mexican wrestling talent to a broader audience. He has long been credited with helping open doors in the U.S. for stars like Rey Mysterio, Juventud Guerrera, and Psicosis.
At this time, further updates on Konnan’s condition remain limited. The wrestling community has already begun sharing messages of support for the veteran performer and influential promoter as he continues his recovery. 🙏
Concerns are swirling around Dominik Mysterio following his appearance at AAA’s Guerra de Titanesevent. According to Bryan Alvarez, the reigning AAA Mega Champion and WWE Intercontinental Champion may have suffered a shoulder injury during the show’s main event.
Dominik teamed with El Grande Americano to take on his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, alongside Rey Fenix. The babyface duo ultimately scored the victory after interference from Penta, but the spotlight quickly shifted to Dominik’s condition late in the match.
Alvarez noted that the injury appeared to occur after Dominik took a DDT from Rey Mysterio near the closing moments of the bout. Following the move, Dominik was reportedly struggling badly, with limited use of his arm once the match concluded. Based on the way he landed, a shoulder separation is being speculated, though nothing has been confirmed.
Alvarez added that the situation could range anywhere from a minor issue to something far more serious, potentially even requiring surgery. However, the full extent of the injury won’t be known until Dominik undergoes a medical evaluation.
After the bell, Dominik was seen shoving his own partner, El Grande Americano, before walking to the back under his own power. Americano appeared confused by the exchange and later shook hands with Rey Mysterio before exiting the ring.
At this point, there is no official word on how much time, if any, Dominik may miss. With him currently holding both the AAA Mega Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship, a lengthy absence would create major ripple effects across two promotions.
Dominik most recently reclaimed the Intercontinental Title at Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, defeating John Cena with assistance from Liv Morgan, continuing his controversial run at the top of WWE’s mid-card.
AAA closed out the year in style with Guerra de Titanes, a wild event packed with lucha chaos, celebrity moments, shocking alliances, and future-shaping outcomes. Corey Graves, JBL, and Konnan guided fans through the English commentary as the action unfolded.

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. successfully defended the AAA Latin American Championship against Ethan Page, though not without drama. Page immediately leaned into his dirty tactics, even twisting Wagner’s mask to blind him and scoring a near-fall with a powerbomb.
Page appeared to steal the title after using a wrench behind the referee’s back, but Mr. Iguana rushed in to expose the cheating. Carnival of Carnage: Psycho Circus & Pagano defeated The Wyatt Sicks
The “Carnival of Carnage” match between Psycho Circus & Pagano and The Wyatt Sicks was exactly as unhinged as advertised. The action began backstage in a twisted carnival setup, complete with surprise appearances from Mascarita Sagrada swinging a kendo stick and Pimpinela Escarlata distracting Joe Gacy with a kiss.
After Pagano was powerbombed through a table, the fight eventually spilled back to the ring with the Wyatts holding a numbers advantage. That changed when Pagano returned to even the odds. Psycho Clown fully embraced the madness, ripping off his own mask before chaos erupted around the ring. In the end, Psycho Clown drove Dexter Lumis through a table with the Psycho Driver to score the win.

Hijo del Vikingo defeated Dragon Lee with help from Omos
Hijo del Vikingo defeated Dragon Lee in a heated battle that took a shocking turn. Dragon nearly had the match won after landing his finisher, but a downed referee changed everything. Vikingo resorted to a low blow, and then the real surprise arrived—Omos.
Dragon attacked the giant, only to be flattened by a massive powerbomb. Vikingo capitalized with a 450 splash to score the victory as Omos returned the referee to the ring. Afterward, Dorian Roldán appeared and announced the formation of El Ojo, officially aligning Vikingo and Omos as a new power faction in AAA.
Rey Mysterio & Rey Fenix defeated Dominik Mysterio & El Grande Americano
In the main event, Rey Mysterio and Rey Fénix defeated Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano in an emotionally charged tag match. The crowd loudly booed Dominik as he targeted his own father, even tearing at Rey’s mask during the closing moments.
Outside interference teased the finish, but Rey finally connected with the 619 and followed with a slingshot splash to pin his son, sending the fans home happy. After the match, Dominik stormed off alone with his titles, while Americano refused a babyface moment, leaving Rey, Fénix, and Penta confused but celebrating with the crowd.
