Former WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey Makes ROH Debut After AEW Collision/Rampage Tapings

Former WWE champion Ronda Rousey was spotted backstage at the AEW Collision/Rampage joint show on Friday and not only that but Rousey made her debut for Ring of Honor in TV tapings that took place following the AEW event.

Coming out to the same theme music she had in WWE, Rousey teamed up with her best friend Marina Shafir to take on ROH Women’s Champion Athena and her partner Billie Starkz. The teams wrestled on Thursday at a Wrestling Revolver event in Los Angeles, likely as a tuneup to the ROH match. It would appear that Rousey’s debut ROH match will air next week on the Thanksgiving episode of ROH. She finished up with WWE this past summer and at this time, it’s not known if she will feature regularly on ROH or if an appearance with AEW is in the cards.

Kenny King Granted Release From Impact Wrestling

Veteran wrestler Kenny King has reportedly been granted his release from Impact Wrestling.

According to “Fightful Select,” King officially became a free agent earlier this week after Impact honored his request to be released from the company. King, a former Impact Digital Media Champion, finished up with the company at Impact’s October tapings, where he and Sheldon Jean challenged ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) for the Impact World Tag Team Championship.

During his tenure in Impact, King feuded with the likes of Joe Hendry and Mike Bailey, after coming into the company as part of the Honor No More stable along with several other former ROH talents. The heel faction of former ROH wrestlers also included Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis-Bennett, and Vincent, all of whom are now part of AEW/ROH. As such, fans have been speculating over the possibility of King joining his old friends in AEW/ROH.

Prior to Impact, King spent seven years in ROH between 2015 and 2022 and also had multiple stints with TNA. During his time in TNA, he held the TNA X Division Championship on two occasions and was also a part of The Beatdown Clan stable along with current WWE stars Bobby Lashley and MVP.

King, 42, also boasts of a lot of acting and reality show experience, appearing on the second season of WWE’s “Tough Enough” in 2002 and also as a contestant on the 13th season of “The Bachelorette” in 2017. Furthermore, King has made cameos on shows such as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” the dating game show “The Baggage,” and the Nickelodeon series, “My Brother and Me.”

Major Backstage Update On Tony Khan’s Free Agent Signing Scheduled For AEW Full Gear

On Wednesday, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that the company will unveil a new AEW roster member at the Full Gear pay-per-view on November 18. In his announcement, Khan touted this upcoming signing as “one of the world’s best wrestlers,” noting that they were also well-known and respected by the AEW fanbase. While it has yet to be revealed who Khan is specifically referring to, a new report has seemingly ruled out one of the possible candidates.

According to Fightful Select, former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné is not expected to be announced as AEW’s latest signing. Though the two sides have made plans to work together at some point, sources within AEW reportedly have indicated that Moné is not configured into the plans for this segment at Full Gear this weekend.

Following her stints with NJPW and STARDOM, Moné was invited to attend AEW All In in August with the aim of giving her a first-hand viewing experience of AEW. Tony Khan later pointed out that Moné was still in the process of recovering from an ankle injury she sustained in May, meaning any potential in-ring work for AEW would be halted until she was cleared to wrestle again.

Moné may not be penciled in for the free agent signing at Full Gear, but numerous other possibilities still appear to be on the table.
