Report: WWE Eyeing AEW Talent as Contracts Wind Down

As several AEW contracts near their expiration dates, WWE appears to be circling with growing interest—especially in a few standout names from the roster.

According to a new report from BodySlam.net, WWE has its sights set on Danhausen and the high-flying tag team Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen), whose AEW deals are reportedly coming to an end soon. The report suggests that things could move quickly, with one source noting that “movement could happen sooner rather than later.”

This lines up with earlier whispers that WWE had “preliminary interest” in Private Party, a team that has long been seen as having untapped potential in a larger spotlight. Danhausen, known for his bizarre charisma and cult following, could also bring a fresh flavor to WWE’s character-driven programming.

Beyond those three names, a handful of other AEW contracts are also approaching their expiration dates. Chris Jericho’s current deal is set to run out at the end of 2025, while Renee Paquette, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker will reportedly be free agents come August.

Notably locked in, however, is Jon Moxley. The former WWE Champion—still one of AEW’s top stars—remains under contract through 2027 and is said to be among the company’s highest earners.

As free agency looms, the wrestling landscape could be in for another shake-up. AEW will be looking to retain key talent, while WWE seems poised to make strategic plays in a continually evolving talent war.

WWE brought the heat to Riyadh with Night of Champions 2025, delivering a high-impact show filled with surprises, hard-hitting battles, and tournament glory.

Cody Rhodes Becomes King of the Ring
“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes added another accolade to his already stellar 2025 by defeating Randy Orton in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. In a battle rich with personal history, Rhodes overcame his former mentor to claim the crown and solidify his position at the top of WWE’s hierarchy.

Rhea Ripley Survives a War in the Riyadh Boulevard Street Fight
In one of the night’s most brutal encounters, Rhea Ripley defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez in a Riyadh Boulevard Street Fight. The chaos spilled all over the arena, with Ripley emerging victorious after a punishing showdown that further cemented her dominance in the women’s division.

Sami Zayn Overcomes Karrion Kross
In a clash of styles, Sami Zayn managed to outmaneuver the ever-intense Karrion Kross. The win adds momentum to Zayn’s recent surge and could have major implications heading into the summer.

Solo Sikoa Captures U.S. Title, with Help from Family Ties
In a major turning point, Solo Sikoa dethroned Jacob Fatu to become the new United States Champion. The bout turned chaotic as Tonga Loa made a shocking return from injury, and Hikuleo made his WWE debut, both aiding Solo in the win. The Bloodline’s power continues to grow, and now the U.S. Championship is back in their grip.

Jade Cargill Crowned Queen of the Ring
Jade Cargill scored arguably the biggest win of her WWE career, defeating the legendary Asuka to win the Queen of the Ring tournament. The victory marks a major milestone in Cargill’s WWE rise and positions her as a major threat in the women’s title picture.

John Cena Retains Undisputed WWE Championship Against CM Punk

The match lived up to the hype, with Cena digging deep to hold on to the title in what may have been the final chapter of this storied rivalry.

Night of Champions delivered on its name, with two new royals crowned, a major title change, and the return of several key players. With SummerSlam looming, WWE’s landscape is shifting fast—and all eyes are on the fallout from Riyadh.

Vickie Guerrero Reportedly Eyeing WWE Return Ahead of Evolution 2025

It looks like Vickie Guerrero might be gearing up for a return to WWE — and the timing couldn’t be more intriguing. According to Fightful Select, the longtime WWE personality has been telling people close to her that she expects to be back with the company “within a few weeks.”

While there’s no official word yet on what her role might be, the buzz around her return lines up perfectly with the upcoming WWE Evolution pay-per-view, which takes place July 13th in Atlanta, Georgia. The all-women’s event marks the first Evolution since 2018 and could be the perfect stage for Vickie to make a splashy reentry.

Vickie’s history with WWE stretches back to 2005, and she’s no stranger to dramatic comebacks. After wrapping up her full-time run in 2014, she made several guest appearances before heading to AEW in 2019 — a move that, at the time, reportedly strained her relationship with WWE. She remained with AEW until 2023, but since then, signs have pointed to mended fences. Notably, she was spotted backstage at SmackDown in September 2024, suggesting she and WWE are back on speaking terms.

Whether she’s stepping back into a managerial role, making a special appearance, or taking on something new entirely, Vickie’s return could add a dose of attitude and nostalgia to the current landscape — especially with Evolution 2025 on the horizon.

We’ll be keeping a close eye as more details emerge. For now, WWE fans might want to brace themselves for the return of one of the most iconic voices in wrestling history… Excuse me!

Chad Gable Reportedly Injured, Surgery Scheduled for July

Another name has been added to WWE’s growing list of injured stars — and this time, it’s Chad Gable.

According to a new report from PWInsider, Gable suffered an injury during a recent match with PENTA and is scheduled to undergo surgery in early July. While details about the specific nature of the injury haven’t been made public, there’s currently no confirmed timetable for his return to action.

The setback couldn’t come at a more frustrating time for Gable, who has been heavily featured on WWE programming throughout 2024. Since turning heel earlier this year, the former Olympian has found new life as the leader of the “American Made” faction — a group that has helped redefine his on-screen persona.

Gable now joins a growing list of sidelined WWE Superstars, including Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, and Liv Morgan, all of whom are currently dealing with various injuries. With WWE in the middle of a summer stretch packed with international events and ongoing storylines, Gable’s absence could shake up some creative plans, especially if American Made was being primed for a larger push.

Gable’s in-ring talent and versatility have long made him one of WWE’s most reliable performers. Whether playing the underdog babyface or, more recently, embracing his arrogant heel persona, he’s consistently delivered in high-pressure spots.

We’ll provide updates on Gable’s condition and recovery timeline as more details become available. In the meantime, fans can only hope the “Master” of suplex precision will be back sooner rather than later.

Pat McAfee Opens Up About WWE Raw Hiatus

Pat McAfee has been noticeably absent from the WWE Raw commentary desk since Money in the Bank earlier this month, and now the outspoken former NFL punter has finally addressed why he’s been off the air.

During a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee shared that he’s been taking some much-needed time to recharge. After juggling multiple roles and his surprise in-ring return earlier this year, the fatigue started catching up with him.

“Continuing to just like kind of catch up on life as a whole, post Money In The Bank, pre-Night Of Champions feels like a good time,” McAfee explained. “I was getting pretty exhausted there. So shout out to everybody at the WWE looking out for me too. Very thankful.”

Since McAfee stepped away, WWE has leaned on some familiar faces to keep the commentary desk running smoothly. Wade Barrett filled in during McAfee’s first week out, and Corey Graves — typically seen on NXT or SmackDown — has joined Michael Cole for the last two episodes of Raw. It’s expected that Graves will continue in the role until McAfee is ready to return.

What remains uncertain is whether McAfee will be back for Night of Champions in Riyadh, or if fans will have to wait a bit longer to see him back behind the mic. WWE hasn’t made any official announcement regarding his return date.

Earlier this year, McAfee stepped back into the ring for a surprise one-on-one match at Backlash, taking on Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER in what was his first singles match in two years. Despite a hard-fought effort, McAfee was ultimately defeated, though he managed to survive nearly 15 grueling minutes with one of WWE’s most dominant forces.

With his trademark energy and fan-favorite commentary style, McAfee has become a standout part of WWE’s weekly programming. While it’s clear he needed the break, fans are undoubtedly eager to see when he’ll return to the announce table — or maybe even back inside the squared circle.
