Wrestler Hospitalized After Opponent Throws Concrete Block At His Head (VIDEO)

A match in Mexico ended in a scary way on Monday after one wrestler threw a concrete block at the head of his opponent, who was then hospitalized.

The match between Angel o Demonio and Cuervo occurred just outside of Mexico City and was promoted by Lucha Memes/Lucha Boom.

As seen in the video below … Demonio grabs a concrete block from the backstage area after being hit with multiple chair shots, then returns to the ring to throw it at his opponent from behind/above. Cuervo had no idea it was coming and got knocked unconscious.

A doctor then called off the match and helped Cuervo to the back when he came to. We’re told an ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital.

During a post-match promo, Demonio apologized for Cuervo not being able to finish the match. He also went on Facebook to say he didn’t appreciate the multiple chair shots being doled out beforehand, but claims he wasn’t aiming to hit Cuervo in the head with the concrete block.

David Arquette Got Bloodied Up Wrestling A Deathmatch

david arquette bloody gcw joey janelas la confidential

Former WCW champ David Arquette was a bloody mess during his crazy match at Joey Janela’s LA Confidential — and the ending may have turned into a little bit of a shoot.

It all went down on Friday at The Hi-Hat in Los Angeles — for an event streaming live on FiteTV — during Arquette’s match against deathmatch wrestler Nick Gage.

As things progressed, light tubes were injected into the match and at one point the 47-year-old ‘Scream’ star hit a diamond cutter on his opponent through a bunch of them.

The finish saw Gage start to grind broken light tubes into David’s forehead and at one point it looked like the two slipped up, causing Arquette’s neck to get sliced. This lead to the actor walking out of the ring like he was going to leave, but he ultimately came back.

Gage and Arquette then began to trade blows, with there seemingly being serious tension.

David Arquette lost the match moments later, then stormed to the back.

According to sources, the camera crew filming David’s documentary filmed as he returned to the back and we’re told actor Luke Perry rushed in to take his fellow actor to the ER. Arquette tweeted afterward saying he got stitched up and added, “Turns out Death Matches aren’t my thing.”

The full event replay is available on FiteTV.

Former WWE star James Ellsworth has released a statement saying he denies allegations made on social media by an underage girl claiming he sent her nude photos.

“I category deny all allegations, please direct all further communication to my attorney,” Ellsworth’s statement to WrestlingNews.Co reads.

He later tweeted a statement from his lawyer which says, “My client, James Morris, known publicly and professionally as James Ellsworth has become aware of a number of baseless allegations. Mr. Morris has the utmost respect for women and categorically denies these inflammatory and despicable accusations.”

The 16-year-old girl in question shared screenshots on Friday of a few pictures James allegedly sent and detailed her allegations in a video.

She claims to have met Ellsworth earlier this month at an indie show where she told the wrestler her age. She then allegedly asked Ellsworth for a follow on Twitter and he obliged. The girl claims he asked for her Snapchat account not long after and allegedly began sending her XXX content.

Ellsworth last worked for Impact and WWE in October.

Johnny Impact Eliminated From Survivor

John Hennigan, aka Impact Wrestling World Champion Johnny Impact, was eliminated from CBS’s Survivor reality competition show on Wednesday’s episode.

This season of Survivor had a “David Vs. Goliath” theme where half the competitors were notorious underdogs and the other half were breakout successes in their occupations. Both sets of competitors were broken into separate “tribes” to start the season and competed against one another. Hennigan was designated a Goliath, but lasted long enough in the season to make it to the merge, where the remaining players became a single tribe. This was the eighth week of the competition with one castaway already voted off following the merge, Elizabeth.

Impact’s elimination from the show was a complete surprise and not without controversy. Heading into tribal council at the end of the show Hennigan seemed to be in a comfortable spot. The odds were in his favor, as he had lasted more than twenty days on the island and the Goliaths outnumbered the Davids.

The plan was for the Goliaths to vote off one of the Davids, Christian. Christian is a robotics scientist and had become a threat in the game with his ability to quickly solve puzzles. He also had become close with some of the Goliaths, including Hennigan, who affectionately referred to each other as “The Brochachos”.

Out of nowhere, one of Christian’s David team mates played an immunity idol that invalidated any votes cast for him. The next in line for elimination would have been Angelina, a Goliath, who also had a immunity idol played on her behalf. When the dust settled, the only other player who had votes cast for them at tribal council was Hennigan, who received three. Hennigan now joins Elizabeth as a member of the Survivor jury and will cast a vote in deciding who will be awarded the one million dollar prize at the end of the season.

Jim Ross Confirms AXS TV Role With NJPW Is Done At The End Of The Year

In January of 2016, it announced Jim Ross would be featured on NJPW’s weekly program on AXS TV, typically working alongside Josh Barnett. In addition to doing voiceover work, Ross also commentated for the live US shows NJPW held including the most recent Fighting Spirit Unleashed in Long Beach, California.

Ross is still signed with WWE through March, and WWE is apparently holding him back from re-signing with AXS TV until he’s officially a free agent in April.

While still working for AXS TV, WWE also signed the Hall of Famer in 2017 to work events like the WWE Mae Young Classic and calling a handful of matches at WrestleMania.

On Twitter, Ross confirmed yesterday he would be heading out to record his final sessions with AXS TV and that would be it until his contract is finished up at the end of the year. This also means Ross won’t be calling Wrestle Kingdom 13 (January 4).

AXS TV is expected to announce it’s TV wrestling plans for 2019 sometime later this week.

Cody Rhodes had an injury scare over the weekend, but a trip to the doctor has revealed he’ll still be good to go for Final Battle and Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Rhodes announced he heard a loud pop in his knee while teasing a t-shirt toss at an ROH event on Friday. Because of this, he was forced to miss an IWGP United States title defense against Trent.

After visiting a physician on Monday, Rhodes shared an update:

GOOD news is my doctor is fairly confident that my mcl/pcl/acl are structurally sound. BAD news is the meniscus is fairly damaged, gonna’ require a scope. No dates will be adjusted at the moment, and I’ll definitely still compete in the final battle main event & at WK.

Top NJPW Star Tetsuya Naito Reportedly Turned Down WWE Offer

Image result for Tetsuya Naito 2018

Earlier this year, WWE reached out to Tetsuya Naito sometime after NJPW Dominion (June), but Naito turned down the offer, according to Tokyo Sports. At Dominion, Chris Jericho defeated Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship.

As translated by NJPW Announcer Chris Charlton, Naito didn’t have to think long about the prospect of going to WWE.

“I didn’t even give it a thought,” Naito said. “This New Japan ring is already the world’s number one stage. The fans know this. That’s why I think we should focus on our home crowd before looking international.”

https://twitter.com/reasonjp/status/1059715666079412225

Naito, a one-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, is arguably the most popular wrestler in Japan as the leader of Los Ingobernables de Japon. Naito has also won MVP two years in a row in the Tokyo Awards, being only the fifth to achieve this along with Antonio Inoki, Jumbo Tsuruta, Genichiro Tenryu, and Kazuchika Okada.

https://twitter.com/reasonjp/status/953854354200526848

At Wrestle Kingdom 13 on January 4, Naito will face Chris Jericho for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and has made it clear he’s not interested in Jericho for his time in WWE, it’s about what Jericho has done in NJPW with multiple sneak attacks on members of LIJ.

“You should understand that I have no interest in ‘WWE Superstar’ Chris Jericho,” Naito said. “What I want to do is get revenge for what happened in a New Japan ring.”
