AEW’s Show On TNT Will Reportedly Be TV-14

AEW has sent out information to cable providers for their debut show on October 2nd, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

It was noted that the show is rated TV-14 and not TV-PG, like WWE programming. According to The Observer, TNT had made the decision awhile to have the show be TV-14. While TNT and AEW have agreed to produce a more edgy show than WWE, TNT provided them specific rules regarding what lines they can’t cross.

The show was also categorized as “sports event” as opposed to “entertainment.”

AEW has yet to officially announce the name of the show, however AEW President told Wrestling Inc. at All Out this past Saturday that it will not be simply called “All Elite Wrestling.”

“It is not going to be called ‘All Elite Wrestling’ because I think it would be confusing between the company and the name of the show,” Khan said.

AEW debuts on TNT on Wednesday, October 2nd.

Chris Jericho To Defend AEW World Title Against Cody Rhodes At AEW Full Gear

Chris Jericho will face-off against Cody Rhodes at Full Gear and AEW President Tony Khan says the challenger earned the opportunity due to his win-loss record.

Sports Ilustrated broke the news for AEW, with Khan telling the publication:

“Cody’s outstanding record in singles competition has secured him the number one contender ranking, and he will be challenging AEW world champion Chris Jericho in the first ever pay-per-view defense of the championship on November 9 in Baltimore at Full Gear.”

“Cody earned this opportunity over the summer as he remained unbeaten in singles bouts, scoring pins on a pair of proven veterans, defeating his older brother, the legendary wrestler Dustin Rhodes at Double or Nothing, and beating bitter rival and former partner Shawn Spears at All Out—and battling to a draw with the exciting upstart Darby Allin at Fyter Fest.”

AEW execs have heavily stressed that the promotion will focus on wins and losses mattering. This is the first indication of how that will play a part going forward.

“Full Gear” will also feature Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega.

Latest Update On Killer Kross-Impact Contract Situation, Kross Hires An Attorney

It was recently reported that Killer Kross was considering hiring a lawyer to deal with his contractual standoff with Impact Wrestling. According to PWInsider, Kross has indeed hired an attorney who is handling all of the communication between Kross and Impact.

Kross and Impact have been at a standstill regarding his existing contract since May. It was then when he requested his release as he believes he is worth more than what Impact is paying him but Kross maintained his professionalism and continued working for the promotion. Per PWInsider, Impact recently offered Kross a new three-year contract worth $40,000, $60,000 and $80,000 over the life of the deal.

A source says that those numbers are outdated and the final figures were much higher, but either way, Kross declined and is still on his existing contract which has 18 months remaining on it.

Kross is not booked for this weekend’s Impact tapings and his last appearance for the promotion came at Slammiversay on July 7. Adding to the complexity of Kross’ issues with Impact was that he participated in a First Blood match at the event, however Kross, who took the loss, did not want to blade for the match. That prompted Impact to secure fake blood hours before the event to which Kross agreed to use during the defeat.

Kross was also upset that there were no doctor on hand for Slammiversary considering that he was involved in such a match which required blood. Impact conceded that no doctors were present but there were emergency medical technicians (EMTs) at the facility.

Impact is holding tapings on Sep. 5-6 from Las Vegas which also happens to be where Killer Kross lives. But despite the tapings practically taking part in his back yard, Kross will not be present and there is still no timetable for when or if he will return to the ring with Impact Wrestling.

Impact Reportedly Pulling Killer Kross From Upcoming Event Due To Concerns Of Lawsuit

When Impact fans last saw Killer Kross, he was defeated by Eddie Edwards in a First Blood Match at Slammiversary XVII. Kross had a kendo stick jammed into his mouth during the match which resulted in blood and the loss, however, it turns out it was not his blood.

According to PWInsider, Kross refused to blade during the match because there was no outside medical personnel in attendance. Impact was forced to track down fake blood hours before the show to book the match and the finish as planned.

Kross hasn’t been booked since then and Impact is reportedly planning to remove him from their September 15 AAA event in New York amid concerns that Kross will soon be suing Impact.

Kross’ problems with the promotion precede Slammiversary as he’s been in a contract standoff with Impact for months. He doesn’t feel as though he’s being compensated fairly and he made that clear during a July interview on Wrestling Inc.’s  WINCLY podcast.

“I don’t have anything disparaging to say about the company and I made that clear,” Kross said. “The bottom line is that I’m a human being. Killer Kross might not be a human being but I am. The guy behind the glass coat is and personal circumstances change in life. I felt I was contributing to a greater degree than I was being compensated and I tried to find a common ground with them but we weren’t able to find one. But I’m a professional through and through.”

“My status with them: hard to say. But I’m going out there and giving everybody my best,” Kross said before adding that he should’t say anything about getting a better deal from Impact because “hypothetically they could use it against me.”

Kross also noted that he would like to stay with Impact if everything can be worked out but it’s of best interest to him and his family to be compensated what he feels that he’s worth.

Kross does have the ability to wrestle for independents and he did just that recently. On September 1 he defeated Tom Lawlor at a Warrior Wrestling event which was highlighted by Impact and Warrior Wrestling World Champion Brian Cage defeating Michael Elgin.

AEW World Title Belt Allegedly Stolen While Chris Jericho Was Eating Dinner, Jericho Comments, Police Have Found It

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho had his title belt stolen just days after becoming the inaugural champion by defeating Adam Page in the main event of Saturday’s AEW All Out pay-per-view.

A local police blotter in Tallahassee, Florida listed the incident report, seen below. Jericho apparently had the title go missing while he was eating dinner inside a Longhorn Steakhouse at 2400 North Monroe Street. Police were called and an investigation was launched.

Below is the full incident report with details on what happened. The report lists the crime as grand theft:

“The victim reported the theft of his championship wrestling belt while he was eating inside Longhorn Steakhouse. The victim stated he arrived at the Millionaire Club Airport Terminal and placed the belt inside his rented limousine. The limo driver shuttled the victim to Longhorn for dinner. The victim remained at Longhorn while the limo driver returned to the airport. The victim had taken the wrong luggage from the airport and the driver took it back to the terminal. When the driver picked up the victim from the restaurant, the belt was missing. Responding officers searched the limo and airport for the belt without success. On-call CID was consulted, and forensics responded to the scene.”

The report lists Jericho as the victim – Christopher “Jericho” Irvine.

The Arby’s fast food restaurant chain, which often tweets about WWE

and AEW happenings, posted a tweet today and jokingly offered to assist Jericho, making a reference to his band Fozzy.

Chris Jericho Issues Statement On AEW World Title Theft.

The AEW Twitter account posted a video of Jericho addressing the situation like only he can. Jericho promised to launch a “worldwide investigation using the top private investigators” to get to the bottom of the theft.

“I’m AEW Champion Chris Jericho and unfortunately, less than 24 hours after I became the first AEW Champion, with blood streaming down my face after one of the hardest matches I’ve ever had in my life, some low life scumbag committed grand larceny and robbed me of the AEWChampionship. Now, as I sit here in my beautiful mansion, I’m just imagining what I would do to that son of a b—h if he was here right now,” Jericho said.

He continued, “I’m launching a worldwide investigation, using the top private investigators in the world today, to find out who committed this crime. Trust me, as the AEW Champion, I promise to regain and restore and find and reclaim the AEW Championship, and once again give you another reason to finally give me the ‘thank you’ that I deserve. You’re welcome.”

The Tallahassee Police Department has apparently recovered the stolen AEW World Title Belt. AEW Tweeted that the case was solved with a thank you to the Tallhassee PD along with a screen shot of a post from the Tallahassee Police Department of a officer with the Title with a message to Jericho that they have something that belongs to him.

Tony Khan Confirms Kylie Rae Is No Longer Part Of AEW

Kylie Rae has been granted her release from AEW.

According to media in attendance at the post-All Out scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Kylie’s status. Khan said Rae requested her own release and it was granted.

He also said it was a quick and amicable process.

As you’ll recall, Rae was part of a four-way match at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas and was seemingly pegged to be one of the stars of AEW’s women’s division. Shortly after, however, she deactivated her social media accounts and pulled out of a few bookings.

No word at this time on the reason for her request.
