Former ROH And IMPACT Star Jimmy Rave Announces Retirement After Arm Amputation

Former Ring of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling star Jimmy Rave (real name James Guffey) announced his retirement from professional wrestling on Saturday.

Rave made the announcement on Twitter.  He noted this is the hardest tweet he has had ever had to put out.  Rave stated that his retirement was due to an infection in his left arm which resulted in amputation of his left arm above the elbow.

Rave was trained by Murder One.  He made his debut in October 1999 as the masked Mr. XTC. He would then later adopt the in-ring name of Jimmy Rave.

He debuted for Ring of Honor in 2003 and would stay with the promotion until 2007. He then left in August 2007. Rave later would sign with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling and become part of the Rock ’n Rave Infection with Lance Rock (Lance Archer).  After his departure from TNA/Impact, he made his return to ROH, and then left the promotion June 2013.

Rave has held the NWA Wildside Junior Heavyweight Championship twice.  In addition, he has competed in the Best of the Super Juniors for New Japan Pro Wrestling, wrestled for Combat Zone Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Dragon Gate and the independent circuit between 2009 and 2020.

He even made one appearance on WWE Sunday Night Heat in March 2005.

Below is Rave’s full statement from Twitter:

“I have been very blessed for the last 21 years in professional wrestling and getting to live out my dream. Today, that dream has ended for me and I have a new reality. This past Tuesday my world came crashing down when Doctors found an infection in my left arm. I tried toughing it out but by the time I saw a doctor it was too late and they had to amputate my left arm above the elbow. Thus effectively ending my in ring career. I appreciate everyone who has supported me or anyone who has pegged me with a roll of toilet paper. To my brothers & sisters I have shared the ring with or a locker room; thank you for always pushing me to be better. Thank You to all of my mentors and my students who allow me to still feel needed. This was the hardest thing I have ever had to type. If you have questions or comments please feel free to DM me. Please take your health much more seriously than I did. I am sorry for anyone I have let down. Support pro wrestling! -Jimmy Rave”

Impact Wrestling Executive & Internet Wrestling Pioneer Bob Ryder Passes Away

Impact Wrestling executive Bob Ryder has passed away, according to PWInsider.

Ryder, the founder of 1wrestling.com, fought a long battle with cancer for a number of years, living well beyond the 3-6 months he was initially told he had left. The cancer went into remission at one point, but it came back and Ryder had been undergoing weekly chemotherapy.

Ryder continued his work for Impact Wrestling from his home in Nashville, while doing chemotherapy. He worked as the Director of Travel Operations in recent years, but held other roles with the company. Ryder was found at home this morning, but had last been in contact with Impact last night, according to PWInsider.

Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com adds that Ryder was found at home by police this morning in Nashville. He noted that Impact officials were unable to reach Ryder after he fell at home on Tuesday.

“Bob Ryder was found dead at his home in Nashville by police today. We don’t know more but he had fallen yesterday and was on advanced chemo. Impact officials couldn’t get in touch with him and went to his home and he never answered, police were called and found him dead,” Meltzer tweeted.

Ryder was one of the longest-running employees for the company, if not the longest. He was also a pioneer of the Internet Wrestling Community, hosting the first-ever online WWE chat at WrestleMania 11, running Prodigy Wrestling for the internet service provider, and later founding 1wrestling.com with ECW Original Joey Styles. He would go on to work for WCW, helping with their website and hosting WCW Live with Jeremy Borash. Ryder and Borash were actually the last voices heard on any WCW broadcast on the show they hosted following the final WCW Nitro episode in March 2001.

Jazz Coming out Retirement To Compete In Impact Wrestling’s Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament

Former WWE and NWA Women’s Champion JAZZ will participant in the Impact’s Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament as Jordynne Grace’s partner.

Last week, Grace made a phone call to an unknown wrestler at the time to see if they would like to team with her during the Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament. Tonight she informed backstage interviewer Gia Miller that Jazz will now be her partner in the tournament.

Jazz originally announced her in-ring retirement just last month on The Chris Van Vliet Show, citing that she wanted to focus on her health and personal issues, which caused her to vacate the NWA Women’s Championship just last year. She held that title for nearly 948 days.

You can see her return on last night’s show in the images below:

The Rascalz Leaving Impact Wrestling

The Rascalz appear to be leaving Impact Wrestling. During tonight’s broadcast, it was revealed that the trio are being “evicted” from the Treehouse. A match was then set up for next week and it’s being hyped up as their “last hurrah”. Dez and Wentz will be facing Rich Swann and Trey Miguel.

According to Pwinsider, this appears to be a legitimate exit “barring a last second change.” The group signed with Impact in the fall of 2018 and Miguel had been receiving a push as of late and competed for the vacant Impact World Title at Slammiversary. He also worked an X-Division title match at Bound For Glory.
