Rob Conway Talks HPW, Jerry Wilson, and What It Takes To Make It In The Wrestling Business
Earlier this month, Ironman Rob Conway appeared at the March Hoosier Pro Wrestling (HPW) event in Columbus, Indiana and once again showed what a class act he is as a professional wrestler. The audio clip above will help let you know just what kind of person he is.
I always appreciate when someone of his stature will take the time to sit down with me and share from their heart about the business that so many of us enjoy. Rob Conway has appeared at Wrestlemania, and here he was setting in the locker room taking Indy Wrestling with me.
Notice in the audio, the kind words and admiration that the Ironman has for HPW promoter, Jerry Wilson. Indy promoters should listen to what Conway has to say about what has make Jerry Wilson and thus HPW, the success that has been for the past 16 years.
Conway also shares with young and upcoming wrestlers how to make it in the business and not to give up. He even uses WWE Superstar Hornswoggle, as an example of someone who people would have never given a chance at being a WWE Superstar.
Be watching for video of the Ironman Rob Conway performing in HPW in the days to come.
Hoosier Pro Wrestling in Columbus Indiana will be hosting “March Mayhem” tonight. DTRTwresling.com contributor Ed Boston who lives in the area will be in attendance.
Bruce Santee an independent wrestler who worked for TNA Wrestling in 2004 & 2006 was arrested this past monday after turning himself in. Santee was arrested on a charge of written threats to kill or do bodily harm.
Santee had a disagreement with a police officer about a traffic stop in Pinellas Park, Florida. In a Facebook post following the incident, Santee offered $100 to anyone who would kill the officer, according to Pinellas Park police.
The officer was off duty at the time of the traffic stop around 2am Sunday. He called the department to report that Santee made disparaging remarks, including a threat of assault.
Santee later logged into his Facebook account & made the $100 offer. He identified the officer by name, police said. Police didn’t release the name of the officer.

This past Saturday was the annual HPW Anniversary Show. Jerry Wilson has been putting on amazing
Sign Guy with Miss Stevie before the HPW 15th Anniversary Show started
independent wrestling action for 15 years now. This event was another amazing show with big named superstars like Hacksaw Jim Duggan signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans, The Wild Eyed Southern Boy Tracy Smothers in the main event, and NWA Ladies Champion Kacee Carlisle on the card as well.
The regular roster from HPW did an awesome job as always, and it was great to have a packed house to see the regulars and the guests, including Sign Guy, who comes back to HPW each year for the anniversary show.
Unfortunately, Sign Guy was involved in a mishap at the end of the first match, an over the top rope battle royal. After getting his leg in the top rope, Sign Guy took a head first spill to the concrete floor and was laying motionless for several minutes. For those who now might be thinking oh there’s a wrestling work story coming – put that out of your mind.
This was as real as real could get and fortunately for Sign Guy, the anniversary show also doubles as the Columbus Fireman’s Cheer Fund Benefit Show, and there were numerous trained paramedics at ringside, so he was in good hand’s within seconds.
Here is an update that Jerry Wilson posted on his Facebook Page yesterday.
“Went to visit Sign Guy today and happy to report he is gonna be ok! Broken bones above eye, no surgery needed, big black eye and as always wanted to know if the spot looked good. Thankful to all his friends, wrestling family and family for all the prayers!”
I can hardly express how scared I was for my friend as I watched him lay there not moving. I know many people think wrestling is “fake” but as I said earlier, this injury was real life, and I was afraid for my friend’s life.
I’ve appeared on Sign Guy’s Radio program, and we’ve had him on DTRT Wrestling’s show as well.
I’m thanking God for the good reports that we are getting, but I’m still lifting Sign Guy up for his continued recovery.
Oh and by the way, Sign Guy was inducted into the HPW Hall of Fame along with the other three members of the High Rollers – it was too bad that he was already at the hospital getting ready to be airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis when Jerry Wilson handed out the Hall of Fame Awards.
UPDATE: Just as I was posting this story I received this from Jerry Wilson:
Jerry Wilson’s photo of Sign Guy from his hospital bed.
Great news from Mrs. Sign guy , he is out of the hospital sore and tired but happy to be home and sending thanks out to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Will be on FB in a couple days! He is one tough dude!
Former TNA Knockout Roxxi who has been wrestling under the name Nikki Rox announced her retirement from wrestling. Her last match will be on Friday, December 6th at the Elks Hall in Clinton, Massachusetts with Lucky Pro Wrestling.
The incident which involved Ed Boston and HPW talent Aaron Anarchy continues to get attention after it originally occurred on Saturday evening. The video which can be viewed here has caused tension within Hoosier Pro Wrestling. The Indiana based independent wrestling promotion owned by Jerry Wilson. Below are comments made on the HPW group on Facebook where Ed shared our original post.
Ed Boston was on his final assignment for DTRT Wrestling News when the incident took place.
While on his final assignment for DTRTwrestling.com covering a Hoosier Pro Wrestling event being held in Columbus IN tonight, Ed Boston was shown disrespect by Indy wrestler Aaron Anarchy who in front of the crowd broke Ed Boston’s camera and forced him to end his final night with DTRTwrestling.com early. Below is the text message we just received regarding the incident.
Trevor – I have a major issue. That punk Aaron Anarchy grabbed my camera and smashed it to bits. I was able to get this video from another source, but I’m not able to finish my assignment tonight.
What a crappy way for this to happen, but with no equipment and no funds to replace it with – I think I’m gonna have to quit covering live events for DTRT Wrestling.
I will talk to you later, needless to say I’m very upset and shook up right now. The great HPW fans helped me get shattered pieces of my camera together.
