Breaking News: WWE Announces Jeff Jarrett Will Enter HOF

While fans responded with boos and jeers then, today, the answer is undoubtedly affirmative. As first reported by NBCSports.com, Jarrett is the latest inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2018, joining Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz and Ivory. Missouri Athletic Commission Overturns Evinger VS Kunitskaya Bout

If you’re a Tonya Evinger or a member of TeamFilthy then today’s a good day for you. If you’re however Yana Kunitskaya or anybody in her team not so much.

On November 18th InvictaFC hosted their 20th event. It was a stacked card with what should’ve been a stellar main event for the bamtamweight title. It was however tarnished when it ended it a controversial way.

If you watched the fight you would know that it ended at 1:58 of the first round when Kunitskaya applied an armbar to Evinger getting the submission victory.
However Evinger appealed the decision of the bout earlier this month due to misinterpretation of the rules by referee Mike England. The defending champion used a perfectly legal defense of the armbar by pushing her foot on the face of Kunitskaya to gain leverage for an escape. This was deemed illegal by the referee and in forcing her to move Kunitskaya was able to sink the amber in deeper.

The only way the defense by Evinger would’ve been illegal is if she would’ve striked Kunitskaya with her foot while she was down but at no point did that happen.
So what does this all mean? Well now that the bout has been overturned  Evinger is still the champion and further more her five year undefeated streak is still intact. Here’s what she had to say about the situation.
It is no surprise that this decision is already receiving some backlash. What do you guys think was the right call made? Let us know. One can only assume it’s a matter of time before we see Evinger and Kunitskaya squaring off again.?

Miesha “Cupcake” Tate Announces Retirement

In what was a historic night at Madison Square Garden UFC205 is an event that people will be talking about for quite sometime.

It was a night where we saw successful title defenses from both Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Tyron Woodley, Conor McGregor made history by becoming the UFC’s very first two division champion.

November 12th, 2016 was also the night we saw one of the greatest in women’s mixed martial arts take her final bow. The former Bantamweight champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate announced in her post fight interview that she is retiring.

Last night she lost to Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision. When asked if the retirement was brought on by the result she replied with

Yes I tried but I couldn’t pull it out of me. I just don’t have it in me anymore

Tate couched Pennington on The Ultimate Fighter season 18 and after the fight the teacher and student shared a beautiful moment.
Whether or not you’re a fan of Miesha Tate there’s no denying the contributions she brought to the world of WMMA. A former Strikeforce and UFC champion with a record of (18-6) cupcake or as the old school fans know her “Takedown” deserves respect.
Thank you Meisha. The Octagon will miss you.

Eva Marie’s Husband (Jonathan Coyle) Says His wife’s Suspension Isn’t Justified

Via Prowrestling Sheet Jonathan Coyle says his wife’s 30 day suspension for her first violation of the company’s wellness program  was unjustified. He said quote

When the public finds out why my wife was unjustly suspended they will be absolutely outraged! Official statement and facts coming soon.”

We will be following this story up as soon as Eva releases her official statement, so be sure to follow Wrestling News blog on facecook and @WrestlingNewsWNB on Twitter

WWE Suspends Eva Marie

Via WWE.com –  WWE has suspended Natalie Coyle (Eva Marie) for 30 days effective immediately for her first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy

It would seem that the WWE has been hit with the Black Plague when it comes to suspensions. This marks the third in the last 24 hours. (DelRio and Paige are also on the list)

One has to wonder if they all tested positive for the same banned substance? Some fans even believe it could all be staged for an episode of Total Divas.   either way this is the kind of news we never like to hear.

WWE Suspends Paige

Via WWE.com  — WWE has suspended Saraya-Jade Bevis (Paige) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for her first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy

Pretty interesting that this suspension comes off the heels of her boyfriend (Alberto DelRio’s) suspension

UFC Veteran Leslie Smith announces She Has A Tumor And Can’t Afford Treatment

In the world of combat sports more often then not we see our favorite fighters on the sidelines due to injury. As fight fans we know that every time a man or woman steps foot in the cage they are risking life and limbs for our entertainment and for the love of the game.

What some people may forget though is that these tremendous athletes are humans too. Yeah sure some of them may look super human, but they are human no less.

Many people know  Leslie Smith as the girl who’s ear exploded in a fight against Jessica Eye back in November 2014. Despite the shape her ear was in “the peacemaker” wanted to continue against doctors orders but that wasn’t the case.

Aside from that though smith is a decorated fighter in her own right. She’s traded blows with the likes of Raquel Prnnington, Jessamyn Duke, Rin Naki, Jennifer Maia and she was even Chris Cyborg’s first opponent in the UFC.

Today the UFC vet who’s been fighting since 2008 (8-7-1) gave us some disheartening news via MMA LIVE on AXS TV

“I have a tumor on my stomach. But, I don’t have a way to get that fixed. I don’t have a way to get that taken off because it’s not a fight related issue.

As we know by now, fighters are covered under a medical insurance policy upon signing with the organization. However, it should be noted that the UFC’s current insurance plan for fighters works more as a form of liability insurance that covers the combatants for injuries suffered during fights or training. This is not the kind of medical insurance that an employer would typically provide in the United States, that covers the general health of an individual and in most cases, their families as well

We here at WNB would like to extended our well wishes to Leslie smith. She will be in our prayers. To see Leslie’s announcement skip to the 2:21 mark of the video

InvictaFC’s Alexa Grasso Set To Make UFC Debut

Some pretty exciting news for MMA fans this afternoon. It was announced jut moments ago via the official Facebook of Alexa Grasso that she will be making her UFC debut on November 5th, 2016 against Heather Jo Clark

Grasso is currently signed with Invicta Fighting champions and is without a doubt one of their top athletes.  Just this past month  Grasso returned to the cage after a 16 month layoff due to a hand injury to take on Jodie Escabal at InvivtaFC18

It was an all out 3 round war and Grasso showed no signs of ring rust. Many people believed with her dominating win she would be next in line to challenge strawweight champion Angela Hill at the next invicta. Whether that’ll happen remains to be seen.

It’ll be interesting to see if she’ll be signed under both banners much like battemweight fighter Jessamyn Duke or Perhaps  Grasso’s invicta days are behind her?

All of these questions should be answered over time but one things for sure, Alexa Grasso will fit right in with the ever growing strawweight division of the UFC
