WWE To Bring Back Tough Enough Concept For New Series?

We noted earlier in the week how WWE recently filed to trademark the Tough Enough name for merchandise use. It sounds like WWE could be planning a revival of the reality TV competition.

There has been an idea pitched that would see a new version of Tough Enough with the competitors being placed on the road with the WWE roster as they all travel together on a tour bus, according to PWInsider. The idea is that there would be weekly competitions with eliminations, leading up to one winner being crowned. That winner would earn a WWE contract. The new series would likely combine elements of Tough Enough, the Diva Search and the reality era of WWE NXT as the company looks for a new female Superstar. WWE has wanted to revive the Diva Search for a while now.

There’s no word yet on if WWE will go with the Tough Enough name or if they will use another name if they decide to produce a new reality competition series but we will keep you updated.

Tough Enough Season 6 winner Sara Lee has been released from her WWE contract.

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned Sara received the news on Friday, but there’s no word at this point on why she was cut from the company.

Lee beat out 7 other women last year to earn a $250,000 contract. She debuted at an NXT live event in March, but hasn’t been used much since.

Runner-up Mandy Rose, who the trainers clearly wanted to win, was instantly signed to a deal and given a role on Total Divas. She’s since made multiple appearances on NXT programming.

All eyes are now on The Yeti to make the most recent season of Tough Enough mean something.

The photo below has been floating on social media, with Sara revealing today that herself and NXT star Wesley Blake are expecting a child.

Tough Enough finale  Results

After a month long competition the two winners of this seasons Tough Enough were crowned tonight. Their reward? A half a million dollar WWE contract. One man and woman would be chosen.

The final four Amanda Saccomanno, Zamariah “ZZ” Loupe, Sarah Lee, and Joshua Bredl all had their first televised match up live and center stage in front of a live crowd at the preformance center in Orlando Florida.

It was also reviled that the final four would be not only having a match but also revealing their Personas AND cutting a promo. To no surprise Joshs’ alter ego was the yeti, Amanda’s was Mandy Rose, ZZs’ was King of the bayou and Sara Lee was Hope.

So who would the finalist be facing in their first match? They thought it would be each other but that wasn’t the case. Cesaro and Alicia Fox were brought in to face the young prospects. All four matches were decent for newbies despite the fact that all four finalist lost their matches. The general consences between the judges was that Josh put on a better match than ZZ and as far as the women’s match both of them got mixed reviews.

In the end the WWE universe decided to reward Josh and Sara with the contracts. There you have it folks, Josh Bredl & Sara Lee are the newest members of the WWE roster.

What do you guys think of the results? Is it what you guys wanted? Let us know in the comments. Until then here’s wishing the best of luck to both Josh and Sara in their respective WWE careers. Hop along for their journey by following them on Twitter @ToughJoshua & @ToughSara

USA Network Heat On WWE Tough Enough?

According to The Wrestling Observer, sources at the USA Network indicate that officials there believe pro wrestling’s popularity is cycling downward, which is indicated by the decline in ratings.

In regards to disappointing numbers for WWE Tough Enough, it was noted by The Observer that USA feels the format of Tough Enough, with how it’s taped and live, isn’t working because it doesn’t give the Tough Enough judges enough time to make fair decisions, and the fans are only given a few minutes instead of a whole day or week to vote. They feel this turns off the audience and leads to a poor word of mouth buzz.

USA officials also reportedly feel like Steve Austin was a dynamic presence with charisma that carried the previous Tough Enough season and current host Chris Jericho is seen more like a game show host. There is no blame or heat on Jericho but they are blaming  the show’s format because it feels more like a game show instead of a reality TV competition. USA is also reportedly concern with how the last two Tough Enough winners, Daniel Puder and Andy Leavine, were released before never amounting to anything in WWE. The original idea behind Tough Enough was that the winner gets a WWE contract and is expected to become a star but there’s a feeling now that winning the show means nothing so fans don’t care.
