More On Ronda Rousey – Women’s Royal Rumble Rumors,

It should be noted that Rousey is currently filming the movie Mile 22 with Mark Wahlberg in Atlanta, and filming is scheduled to run into February, after the Rumble. That is currently the only movie on her schedule, so she is free after that. It is possible that she might still appear in the women’s Rumble match, but as we’ve seen with The Rock, producers aren’t too keen on their stars wrestling when they have projects.

Dave Meltzer did state on Wrestling Observer Radio that there are women who are scheduled to be in the match that believe that Rousey will be a part of it.

Could Ronda Rousey Be A Possible Surprise Entrant For The Women’s WWE Royal Rumble

There was immediate speculation on former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey being in the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match after the big announcement from Stephanie McMahon on last night’s RAW. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that people within WWE who are scheduled to be in the match are under the impression that Rousey will be in as well.

As noted, the women’s Royal Rumble match will feature RAW and SmackDown Superstars competing for a women’s title shot at WrestleMania 34. There’s speculation on WWE NXTSuperstars and stars from the past being brought in for the match but that has not been confirmed.

Rousey has trained at the WWE Performance Center recently, along with NXT Superstar Shayna Baszler. We noted back in October that WWE still had plans to do the Four Horsewomen vs. Four Horsewomen match at WrestleMania 34, with current SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Rousey, Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

The 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view takes place on January 28th from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Triple H Dials Back Reports Of Ronda Rousey ‘Imminently’ Signing With WWE

Triple H dialed back talk of Ronda Rousey signing with WWE. USA Today reported earlier this month that two sources close to Rousey said that Rousey was finalizing a deal with WWE.

“It’s funny because every now and then I wake up and I look at either social media or the news and I see a report and it’s like, well, that’s news to me because I’m the one who would be having that conversation,” Triple H said on CBS Sports’ In This Corner Podcast. “So it’s interesting with ‘sources say.'”

Rousey made her first WWE appearance at WrestleMania 31 in 2015, helping The Rock battle off Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Since that appearance, she had often mentioned that she was interested in doing more with WWE.

“Everybody is very busy and I know that from Ronda’s side and her team, they are looking for an opportunity,” Triple H said. “I have made it very clear that an opportunity exists and it’s just a matter of us getting together and having conversations.

“I wish I had something more to tell you than that but we are just kind of talking and feeling where it goes and she is making movies and doing other things. But it’s exciting and there are a lot of interest on both sides so let’s see where it goes.”

The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion hasn’t fought since suffering a first-round knockout to Amanda Nunes in December of 2016. She appeared at the May Young Classic earlier this year, and teased a possible WWE run this past October in an interview with TMZ.

Ronda Rousey Signing With WWE Is Reportedly ‘Imminent’

According to USA Today, Ronda Rousey is finalizing details that will bring the former UFC Champion into the world of WWE. Although not yet officially announced by WWE, it appears as if Rousey will be making her way to the squared circle in the near future.

Rousey has made appearances at WrestleMania 31 (with The Rock), the Mae Young Classic, and in November, at an NXT live event to meet with fans. Along with the other Four Horsewomen members, Rousey has been training in the ring (at times at the WWE Performance Center), which was shown in a December 1 video that was previewing her personal website.

During the Mae Young Classic, WWE teased a confrontation between the two Four Horsewomen groups, with talk of having a match (Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir) at WrestleMania 34. There was also a rumored match against just Charlotte, but no word yet on if or when that could happen.

Last month, in an interview with Good Morning Britain, Triple H spoke about WWE’s mutual interest with Rousey.

“She is very interested in our business, always has been a huge fan, that’s where the ‘Rowdy Ronda’ came from,” Triple H said. “I think she’s interested in the opportunity, I’m interested in offering her the opportunity, so we have some talking do.”

If Rousey is finished with Mixed Martial Arts, her record will stand at 12-2, losing the final two fights to Holly Holm and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, Amanda Nunes. Her final fight with Nunes was in December of last year.

Cris Cyborg Wants To Fight Ronda Rousey In WWE

cris cyborg ronda rousey ufc wwe wrestlemania challenge

Cris Cyborg has been wanting to fight Ronda Rousey for years, but now the UFC Women’s Featherweight champ says there’s only place it should happen … in a WWE ring.

It all started when Rousey’s coach recently said in an interview that he wants Ronda to come back for a fight with Cyborg, however, Cris no longer feels the same way and outlined her idea in a blog.

She explained that they’re now both at different points in their careers and her true intention was to show the world that Ronda was beatable, which has now been seen already.

Therefore, she wants the super-fight to be a WWE affair … saying, “If Ronda is wanting to make the fight for the fans, I would still be willing to give them it, but I think it would be better to take place inside the WWE ring. For her it gets her one step closer to Hollywood and for me it would be another exciting challenge and a chance to test my athletic ability.”

For what it’s worth, the image used in her blog has the WrestleMania logo behind them (seen above).

Update on Possible Ronda Rousey/WWE Plans

It was previously reported that Ronda Rousey is reportedly interested in a WWE run, and that she was referred to Brian Kendrick for training. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms the initial reports and that she has been working with Kendrick. With Shayna Baszler participating in the Mae Young Classic, Jessamyn Duke also training and Marina Shafir being introduced on NXT as Roderick Strong’s girlfriend, it looks like they will do a Horsewoman vs. Horsewoman feud. But the end game will be to get a singles match out of Rousey at WrestleMania. The original idea was always Rousey vs. Stephanie McMahon in a singles match after the 2015 angle at WrestleMania in Santa Clara.

Ronda Rousey Reportedly Entertaining a WWE Run

According to Fightful.com, Ronda Rousey is reportedly interested in a WWE run. After Triple H set up her appearance at the Mae Young Classic tapings, Rousey has expressed interest in a pro wrestling run and was referred to Brian Kendrick (who worked with Eva Marie at WWE’s request) for training purposes in Southern California. There was buzz backstage at the tournament that Rousey’s training would start soon. She’s taken some basic bumps so far. Rousey also has several connections to wrestling; friend Marina Shafir is engaged to NXT’s Roderick Strong, Jessamyn Duke has started her wrestling training, and Shayna Baszler is in the Mae Young Classic.

WWE’s Four Horsewomen Face-Off With MMA’s Version At Mae Young Classic Taping (VIDEO)

four horsewomen wwe mma mae young classic

The unspoken rivalry between The Four Horsewomen of WWE and The Four Horsewomen of MMA escalated on Friday during the Mae Young Classic … and the video is pretty awesome!

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley were sitting ringside during last night’s Mae Young Classic taping … and tensions began to flare up during one of Shayna Baszler’s matches while Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were seated on the opposite side.

Things picked up though after Baszler taunted Lynch, Flair and Bayley — leading to an across the aisle face off, where both sides flashed fours at each other.

It remains to be seen what this will lead to, but a few years ago Ronda was interested in working a WWE match at WrestleMania with her friends — could the seeds be starting to plant here?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Ronda Rousey’s return to the UFC remains a mystery, but the former female bantamweight champion is headed back to work. Rousey will be part of the revamped “Battle of the Network Stars” series on ABC beginning this June.

Rousey, who lost to Amanda Nunes last December in her first fight since dropping the title to Holly Holm in 2015, will be part of the series that spans 10 episodes. She will be a team captain along with DeMarcus Ware.

“If someone could go back in time and tell the 10-year-old me, glued to the television, watching Howard Cosell and all the biggest names in television running obstacle courses and playing tug of war, that someday he would be directly involved with Battle of the Network Stars, he would have said it was the coolest thing ever,” host Mike Greenberg said. “Decades later, that’s exactly how I feel.”

The series debuts June 29 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
