Kenny Omega And The Young Bucks Tease Potential Match With The New Day On ‘Being The Elite’ (Video)

new day being the elite match teased kenny omega young bucks

WWE’s The New Day appeared alongside Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in the latest episode of Being The Elite … but if that wasn’t enough to work you into a frenzy, a potential wrestling match between the two teams was also teased.

Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods are involved in a standoff with Omega and The Bucks ahead of their Street Fighter V showdown at EC3 at the top of this week’s show.

The most interesting moment happens at the end of the video, however, as Omega touts his victory over New Day and Nick Jackson questions if there’s something “better” they can defeat them at.

“The fans want it.  I know I want it,” Nick tells Kenny and Matt.  “We’re three athletes: think about it.  We can beat them at something else.”

“It would have to be neutral ground,” Kenny responds.

Matt mentions a wrestling match … but the video ends and we’re left hanging!

It’s worth noting Triple H said last week that WWE would be open to inter-promotional opportunities with other companies.  WWE also hyped The Bucks and Omega on their social channels last week.  Is this impossible dream match becoming more probable?

Watch the latest episode of Being The Elite below. The match tease happens in the last minute or so.

ROH Reportedly Set To Make Madison Square Garden Debut

Sinclair Broadcast Group CEO Chris Ripley spoke with The Business Journal of Baltimore and revealed that Ring of Honor is set to make their debut at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2019.

No word yet on when the ROH – MSG debut might happen but this comes as the arena has been reaching out to pro wrestling promotions as WWE has not been running the venue consistently, choosing the Barclays Center in Brooklyn instead. MSG has always been seen as a “home arena” for WWE but there was some heat from the venue over WWE not running any of their WrestleMania 35 events there. It’s very possible that ROH could run MSG head-to-head with one of the WWE shows during WrestleMania 35 Week next year.

Mexico’s AAA promotion will debut at The Garden in September, making them the first wrestling promotion in decades to run MSG outside of WWE. It will be interesting to see how these smaller promotions fill The Garden as the arena has a seating capacity of 20,789. The largest crowd ROH has ever done was around 6,000 for a show during WrestleMania 34 Week in New Orleans.

Impact VP Don Callis Teases ROH Vs. Impact Wrestling On Chris Jericho’s Cruise

Image result for ROH vs Impact on Jericho's cruise

On the latest episode of the Killing The Town podcast, hosts Paul Lazenby and Impact Wrestling Vice President discussed IMPACT Wrestling accepting Chris Jericho’s invitation on his cruise in October and possibly challenging ROH. You can listen to the podcast here, below are some highlights courtesy of Wrestling Inc. reader Himanshu D:

“So we’re doing the press conference and Austin Aries is there, Moose, Madison Rayne, Gail Kim, and then Scott D’Amore, Ed Nordholm and myself were up on stage as the executive team and interestingly I figured most of the questions if not all would be about Slammiversary but we did get one question about Sami’s comments, and I guess there were more but after the one person asked then the others kinda let it go but they wanted to talk to me afterwards about it because I kinda hung around and talked to about 50 reporters there. The question was ‘What do you make of Sami’s comments?’ and I hadn’t had a lot of time to think about it because I was just real busy with TV but I basically said, ‘I think for once I kinda find myself agreeing with Sami.’

“I’ve never really talked to Chris about it because I haven’t had time the last few months but it’s like, ‘yeah, why isn’t IMPACT Wrestling on there?’. Forget my nearly 30 year friendship with Jericho, you’ve got Ring Of Honor and no one else and we know that sometimes those guys like to do things on their own and I’m sure there’s a reason for that but that’s not IMPACT’s kinda thing so I was like, ‘yeah that is interesting’ and so I kinda said at the press conference that I felt like maybe there was something to Sami’s comments and we may have to investigate that further and then Ed Nordholm, the president of IMPACT Wrestling, basically just piped up and said, ‘Well I think you guys are being too politically correct here. Yeah Sami’s right, we should be there and by the way we’re going.’ So I don’t know what that means other than I guess IMPACT Wrestling in some form or fashion is going on this cruise as Ed’s the boss and he says we’re going so I don’t know what form that’s gonna take. I assume that means Callihan is going which is disturbing. Just what you didn’t want. He worked himself into a shoot to apparently but with Sami, you shot yourself into a shoot.”

What other talent will be going:

“I don’t know what other talent. We haven’t had discussions about it but I see Jericho’s been tweeting about it. Well I’m used to dealing with Chris so I’m sure that’s gonna be fine. We’re not gonna buy our own cabins.”

The possibility of Impact vs. ROH on the cruise:

“I think, to use Sami’s language, ‘If Chris and Ring Of Honor have the intestinal fortitude to step up and say, ‘Yeah we’ll accept that challenge’, I think it’s what’s best for the Jericho Cruise and it’s definitely what’s best for the fans because you can see people love interpromotional, we’ve been doing Lucha Underground, we’ve got IMPACT vs UK coming up, so we’ve already been doing that stuff, breaking those paradigms of professional wrestling, that whole insular mentality of ‘we only work with who we work with’ etc. I think that we’re in a position now with this where there are some really cool stuff for the fans. IMPACT vs Ring Of Honor could be very interesting and I’ll be interested to have some internal discussions about who we might take on that cruise ’cause I don’t know other than Callihan and who knows whether he’s available or allowed to travel internationally.”

“I think that it’s an interesting thing that it’ll be the first time that you’ve really got Ring Of Honor in kind of the same… very enclosed space, I guess you’d say, with IMPACT Wrestling. Who knows exactly what is gonna happen with that. Should be interesting, we’ll see what happens.”

Cheeseburger and Eli Isom vs. The Dawgs

The match doesn’t get officially start when The Dawgs attack before the match officially starts. ROH Enforcer Bully Ray comes out and calls The Dawgs scumbags for doing this, especially after they weren’t even booked on the card. Isom gets taken out, Bully says if Cheeseburger can’t find a partner he’ll have to throw out the match. Cheeseburger wants Bully Ray to be his partner, Bully initially says no and then agrees and the match gets started.

Cheeseburger and Bully Ray vs. The Dawgs

Bully hits some big punches, Cheeseburger with a big chop. Bully nails a body slam. Cheeseburger does the “Wazzup!” headbutt from top rope. Bully calls for the tables and then chokeslams the heck out of Cheeseburger. Match just fizzles out. He gets on the mic, calls Cheeseburger a piss ant and didn’t appreciate him putting Bully on the spot. Bully says guys like Will Ospreay, Flip Gordon, and that “Nobody” Ricochet, the whole generation is selfish and entitled. Out comes ROH COO Joe Koff to see what Bully is doing. Bully calls him an “old bastard” and says the reason the wrestling business sucks is because Koff signs guys like Cheeseburger. Gordon comes to the ring and Bully grabs Cheeseburger and tells Gordon not to come in the ring or he will piledrive Cheeseburger. Bully says if he does it will get the show shut down and the fans won’t get Castle/Scurll and Cody/Omega. “Do you know who I am? I’m Bully Ray. I’m a WWE Hall of Famer.” He powerbombs Cheeseburger and bails.

Cody vs. Kenny Omega

Cody tries for a cross rhodes, no, both wrestlers gets shoved to the corner and they smash the referee. Double cross body and now all three guys are down. Out from the back comes The Young Bucks. They get in the ring and look to be talking about something. Bucks are sizing up Kenny and then now Cody. Superkicks to Cody, but he ducks and they hit Omega by mistake! Cody with cross rhodes, ref wakes up, cover, a very slow 1-2-3.

Winner: Cody

Post-match, Young Bucks check on Omega while Cody puts on his ring of honor and heads off. Omega shoves Matt and Nick away as he’s helped away.
