Ric Flair Misses Planned AEW Dynamite Segment Due to Injury, Backstage Scramble Ensues

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was expected to resurface on AEW Dynamite this week alongside longtime rival Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat—at least, that was the plan on paper. Instead, only Steamboat made it onto the broadcast, leaving many fans wondering why Flair, who was advertised for the segment, never hit the stage.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Flair was in the building but unable to appear due to a recently suffered torn rotator cuff. Dave Meltzer reported that Flair’s injury came from a fall, though details are still unclear. Despite showing up to the arena, Flair was said to be in significant pain throughout the day.

Meltzer noted that Flair even removed his arm from its sling while speaking to fans before the show began—apparently not wanting anyone to notice he was hurt. After addressing the crowd, Flair quietly left the venue before Dynamite went live.

While Meltzer wasn’t 100% certain Flair was originally scripted to participate in the Steamboat/FTR promo segment, the references made to Flair during the broadcast strongly suggest he was meant to be part of the angle. With Flair unable to perform, AEW reportedly had to adjust the segment on short notice—a change that Bryan Alvarez believes contributed to Steamboat coming off “frantic” during his promo.

Flair’s most recent AEW television appearance came during the build to Sting’s retirement earlier this year. He has since acknowledged ongoing health issues as the primary reason for his light AEW schedule.

As of now, there’s no word on when (or if) Flair will return to AEW programming, but the company clearly had plans for “The Nature Boy” on Dynamite. Whether those plans get revisited once he recovers remains to be seen.

North Carolina Senate Proposes “RIC FLAIR” Act to Explore Wrestling Hall of Fame

North Carolina is looking to cement its place in pro wrestling history with a proposed Hall of Fame, and they’re doing it in true legendary fashion—by naming the bill after “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

The bipartisan Senate Bill 404, also known as the “RIC FLAIR” Act, aims to allocate $500,000 to study the feasibility of creating a professional wrestling Hall of Fame in the state. The bill is sponsored by Senators Jay Chaudhuri, Danny Britt, and Ralph Hise, and if passed, would require the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to conduct the study and present a report by the summer of 2026.

Senator Chaudhuri emphasized the deep connection between professional wrestling and North Carolina, stating, “Our shared cultural heritage in this state is college basketball, NASCAR, and professional wrestling. Professional wrestling still hasn’t gotten the recognition it deserves.”

North Carolina has long been a major hub for wrestling, with the legendary Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling promotion calling the state home before evolving into Jim Crockett Promotions, a key player in the rise of the NWA and WCW. Ric Flair himself became a household name while wrestling in the region, making the bill’s namesake a fitting tribute.

If the study leads to the creation of a Hall of Fame, North Carolina could establish itself as a premier destination for wrestling history alongside WWE’s Hall of Fame, which currently exists as a virtual entity without a dedicated physical location.

Could we see a brick-and-mortar wrestling shrine in North Carolina in the future? Only time will tell, but if there’s one thing Ric Flair knows how to do, it’s make history. Woooo!

Ric Flair’s Stepson Commits Suicide At The Age Of 24

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s stepson has tragically taken his own life.

TMZ is reporting that Sebastian Kidder, an up-and-coming musician, killed himself at the age of 24 this weekend. Wendy Barlow says the family is heartbroken.

The report states that Kidder shot himself on Saturday afternoon at the family home in Georgia. Police are currently investigating.

Barlow said, “I am devastated and shocked. This is an epidemic with your young men. And mental health…”

Ric Flair Comments On Restaurant Incident, Says He Should Have Left Before He Got Mad

It’s only Wednesday, but the saga of Ric Flair and his not-so-excellent adventure at a Gainesville, Florida Piesanos Stove Oven Pizza restaurant has continued to generate headlines. The story first came to light on Monday when Flair took to social media to complain about the establishment throwing him out. This was followed by accusations from a neighboring Piesanos manager that Flair was “drunk and disorderly,” and the release of video footage on Tuesday showing Flair angrily confronting Piesanos staff.

The story continued to evolve on Wednesday, when Flair gave his account to “The Gainesville Sun,” and even suggested he could pursue legal action against Piesanos. Flair’s tone was a little softer later on Wednesday, however, when he was contacted by the “MJ Morning Show” for his account of the situation. Flair provided additional details he hadn’t included earlier, claiming his stepdaughter left the place due to feeling “scared,” because of how strong the Piesanons staff came across. He again confirmed that an altercation with a kitchen worker escalated his behavior.

“When I’m put in an area where I’m uncomfortable…I got upset,” Flair said. “It caught me off guard because we were having a wonderful time.”

Despite that, Flair did admit that he should’ve departed from the restaurant before losing his cool. Flair also noted that, even after everything that happened, he would later order food from Piesanos that night, which he said was delivered to him by Uber Eats at around 6 p.m. In a stark contrast from his tone earlier in the day, Flair praised the restaurant, noting that they have “great food.”

Ric Flair Was Reportedly Drunk In Restaurant Incident – ‘Woo’d Directly Into A Blind Grandmother’s Face’

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair recently took to Twitter to claim that he was asked to leave Piesonas, a major restaurant chain in Florida, after spending $1500 on a meal.

The WWE Hall of Famer explained that he had an issue with the kitchen manager taking too long in the bathroom, which led to the incident.

In response to the claim, Piesonas co-owner Jerry Roberts provided a statement to The Gainesville Sun, clarifying the circumstances that led to the Flair’s unceremonious departure from the restaurant. He noted that he reviewed the security footage and was proud of the way his staff handled the situation.

Word often spreads quickly among restaurant chains that are in close prominently to each other, and the manager of a sister location of the Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza a few miles down the road has taken to Twitter to provide additional context on why Flair was kicked out of the restaurant.

According to the manager, Flair was “being drunk and disorderly” and at one point “woo’d directly into a blind grandmothers face.”

The manager went on to add that Flair “picked up furniture and swung it menacingly” after being confronted by the staff. He wrote,

Sting Descends From The Rafters To Save Ric Flair & Darby Allin In Final AEW Dynamite Appearance

The Young Bucks got quite the surprise on “AEW Dynamite” after spending the majority of Wednesday’s broadcast looking for Sting on what was “The Icon’s” final appearance on the show ahead of his final match on Sunday at Revolution. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson entered the arena at the start of the show, armed with baseball bats. They attempted to find Sting in his locker room to no avail, so they came out to the ring at the end of the night and heckled some fans in Sting masks at ringside, one of whom turned out to be Darby Allin.

The Young Bucks beat up on Allin in the ring with their bats, then called out Ric Flair. Flair was seen heading into the Bucks’ locker room last week on “Dynamite,” seemingly turning on his longtime friend. When the Bucks wanted Flair to hit Allin with one of the bats, Flair turned on them with a thumb to the eye and a cheap shot. The Bucks then started to beat up on Flair, hitting him with a low blow and beating him down. 

It was then that Sting’s music hit, and the Bucks headed up the ramp to wait for him on the stage. Sting never appeared from the back, however, and descended from the rafters armed with his own baseball bat to come to Flair and Allin’s rescue. Allin hit the Bucks with a Coffin Drop, and Sting hit Nicholas with a Scorpion Death Drop to end the show, and Sting’s final “Dynamite.” Allin and Sting put their AEW World Tag Team Championships on the line against the Young Bucks at Revolution.

Ric Flair Offers To Walk Away From AEW Following Outrage Over Pre-Taped Rampage Promo

Ric Flair’s AEW contract has already divided opinion within the pro wrestling community — and his latest incident will only ramp up the concerns of many fans regarding the legendary 16-time world champion. After making his debut last month alongside his long-time friend Sting, the 74-year-old has made sporadic appearances alongside “The Icon,” who is set to retire at next year’s Revolution.

Last night, Flair appeared on “AEW Dynamite” in a backstage segment alongside Sting and Tony Schiavone, where they announced the date and location for Revolution. But it was as a part of the “AEW Rampage” tapings later in the night, that trouble arose. It was then that Flair would cut a lengthy in-ring promo, which involved an invitation to all the 18 to 28-year-old single women in attendance to meet in his hotel room. 

While the line is expected to be cut from the broadcast prior to Friday night’s episode, it hasn’t stopped many on social media from condemning the remarks given Flair’s history of sexual harassment allegations. In a response on his own social media account, Flair would take aim at the critics and offered to “walk away” from AEW if needed.

“I am so tired of hearing all this negativity! Can’t I simply enjoy being by my dear friend Sting’s side for the next few months without so much hatred? I know I’m old, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy life,” he said. “I have earned the right to do whatever I want and I’m exactly where I want to be! I appreciate everything Tony Khan, but I’m more than willing to walk away if I am embarrassing you and your company.”

Flair signed a multi-year agreement with AEW after his initial debut in late-October, which entails on-screen appearances and the company promoting his energy drink. At this stage, there are no plans for Flair to wrestle in AEW after the Hall of Famer had his last match in 2022.

Ric Flair Brawls With Fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Carlos Colon In Puerto Rico

Less than a week after Ric Flair’s Last Match, The Nature Boy got physically involved in the main event of WWC Anniversario.

On July 31, the Ric Flair’s Last Match PPV took place. The Nature Boy seemingly hung up his boots for good after securing the win for his team with son-in-law Andrade El Idolo, when he pinned Jeff Jarrett in a figure four leg lock in the main event. However, just six days later, Flair found himself physically involved in the main event of another significant event. The stage was the annual Anniversario show promoted by the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico, where Flair appeared as the manager to Andrade, facing off against fellow WWE alum, Carlito.

As reported by Thomas Lowson (SEScoops) Carlito defeated Andrade El Idolo in the last match of the night for WWC Anniverario on August 6. While both competitors are well-known wrestling fans around the world for their respective tenures in WWE, not to mention Andrade’s current work with AEW, it was a pair of WWE Hall of Famers who arguably stole the show. Ric Flair posted photos to his Twitter of him getting into an altercation with Carlito’s father, the legendary Carlos Colon during the match (as well as the icons and their family members posing together backstage).

This was actually a revisiting of a very old rivalry. In Flair’s prime, he worked some of the greatest matches in wrestling history and along that run, Colon challenged Flair for the NWA Championship back in 1983. The Puerto Rican star even garnered a “phantom” title reign—beating Flair in a match never recognized on NWA TV, after which Flair quietly won the title back, as was somewhat customary at the time.

Late in his in-ring career with WWE, Ric Flair actually worked multiple angles with Carlito. That includes Flair beating Carlito to win his lone Intercontinental Championship in 2005. A year later, Flair insulted the youngster’s lack of dedication en route to the two of them forming a teacher-student tag team, only to windup feuding once more. Carlito was arguably a big missed opportunity for WWE, but Flair did his part as a partner and rival in the effort to help him succeed. So it was that there was another layer to The Nature Boy backing his son-in-law, Andrade against this old rival.

It’s for the best that Ric Flair’s altercation with Carlos Colon seems to have remained short and not all that intense given each man is in his 70s and probably best suited leave wrestling to younger athletes at this point. Flair proved in his last match that he’s still up to the task of delivering his signature chops and taking a bump, but he isn’t getting any younger. That match left Nature Boy fans on a high note, and hopefully he won’t press his luck much further.

Backstage News On Ric Flair’s Health After Last Match

Ric Flair is reportedly “doing great” despite getting bloodied and taking several bumps in his final match Sunday evening.

According to PWInsider, two doctors were waiting for the 73-year-old Flair the second he returned to the locker room after his match. A person who spoke to The Nature Boy after the medical evaluation provided a positive update, noting that Flair was perfectly fine. The report added that Flair was “obviously spent after the bout” and was saying he was “starving and wanted to go out and eat.” During his farewell speech, Flair told Tony Schiavone he was going to party with Kid Rock at the musician’s bar in Nashville, TN.

Fans were understandably concerned for Flair’s health after watching him take several bumps, especially towards the closing stages of the match. Furthermore, Flair appeared to be gasping for air midway through the bout, and one could notice that Andrade El Idolo, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal tried to buy him time so he could catch his breath.

Flair appeared to get busted open after Karen Jarrett handed her high heel to her husband, who proceeded to strike Flair with the foreign object. Jarrett then slammed Flair’s head onto the barricade, which led to Megan Flair confronting Karen. During this sequence, Lethal continued to beat down on Flair, causing him to start bleeding from the forehead.

The match eventually ended with Flair applying his signature figure-four leglock on Jeff Jarrett as referee David Miller counted to three. Prior to the finish, Andrade pulled Flair out of harm’s way as Jarrett accidentally hit his tag partner, Lethal, with a guitar shot. This was followed by Conrad Thompson throwing a pair of brass knuckles to Andrade, who proceeded to strike Jarrett.
