Mercedes Mone Adds Another Championship to Her Collection

Mercedes Mone’s championship resume just keeps growing. The AEW star has once again proven why she’s one of the most decorated names in women’s wrestling, walking away with yet another title to add to her already stacked collection.

In a Title vs. Title clash, Mone defeated Emersyn Jayne to retain her Rev Pro Undisputed British Women’s Championship and simultaneously capture the Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship. With the win, she now boasts nine championships across her career — earning her the fitting nickname “Nine Belts Mone.”

Since making her move to AEW, Mone has kept herself busy by taking bookings overseas, continuing to build her reputation as one of wrestling’s most sought-after global stars. This latest title victory further cements her as a dominant force who isn’t just making waves in AEW, but across the independent and international scene as well.

It’ll be interesting to see how AEW highlights Mone’s growing collection of hardware and whether these outside championships will play into her ongoing storylines on TV. For now, though, Mone’s reign as one of wrestling’s most in-demand champions shows no sign of slowing down.

A Decorated Career of Championships

Mone’s championship journey has stretched across multiple companies and continents. Here’s a quick look at some of the most notable titles she’s held during her career:

  • WWE Women’s Championships: A multiple-time champion on both Raw and SmackDown, Mone (then known as Sasha Banks) left her mark with memorable reigns that helped redefine the division.
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Alongside Bayley, she was part of the very first team to win the titles, cementing her place in tag team history.
  • IWGP Women’s Championship: After leaving WWE, she shocked the world by capturing gold in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, helping elevate NJPW’s newly launched women’s division.
  • Rev Pro Undisputed British Women’s Championship: Her current reign overseas has been another example of how she continues to grow her global presence.
  • Discovery Wrestling Scottish Women’s Championship: The latest addition to her trophy case, proving she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

A Global Star Beyond AEW

Since signing with AEW earlier this year, Mone has kept herself busy both inside and outside the company. While fans eagerly anticipate her eventual climb toward AEW’s top women’s title, she’s also been building her brand internationally, defending and winning championships across the independent circuit.

Her growing collection of belts only strengthens her reputation as a worldwide attraction — the kind of wrestler who can walk into any promotion and instantly raise its profile.

With “Nine Belts Mone” now officially part of her legacy, the real question is simple: how long before she makes it ten?

Mercedes Moné Adds Two More Titles in Poland, Continues Championship Takeover

Mercedes Moné’s reign of dominance shows no signs of slowing down. On Sunday, the CEO made history once again by capturing two inaugural championships in one night while competing in Poland. Moné walked out of the event as the first-ever Prime Time Women’s Champion and the inaugural BestYa Women’s Champion, defeating local standout Diana Strong in a highly anticipated main event.

According to Fightful, the AEW TBS Champion sealed the deal by delivering her signature backstabber before locking in the Bank Statement, forcing Strong to tap out. The victory adds yet another pair of belts to an already stacked trophy case—and cements Moné’s status as one of the most decorated wrestlers in the world right now.

Here’s a look at her current championship collection:

  • AEW TBS Championship
  • EWA Women’s Championship
  • CMLL World Women’s Championship
  • Queen of Southside Championship
  • RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship
  • 2025 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Winner
  • Prime Time Women’s Championship (inaugural)
  • BestYa Women’s Championship (inaugural)

Moné’s run has seen her hop continents and cross promotional lines, picking up titles in AEW, CMLL, RevPro, and beyond. Since returning to action earlier this year, she’s made it clear her goal isn’t just to dominate AEW—it’s to build a legacy that spans the entire wrestling world.

With her global gold rush showing no signs of slowing, the only question now is: who, if anyone, can stop Mercedes Moné?

What Is the Queen of Southside Championship That Mercedes Moné Carries?

Mercedes Moné has been making headlines not just for her dominance in AEW and NJPW, but also for the collection of championship gold she proudly displays. Among her titles is the Queen of Southside Championship, a belt that has left many fans scratching their heads. Unlike the TBS Championship or the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship, which are well-known in mainstream wrestling, the Queen of Southside title carries a legacy that some might not be familiar with.

So, what is this championship, and why is Moné still carrying it?

A Championship With Deep Roots

The Queen of Southside Championship originates from Southside Wrestling, a UK-based independent promotion that was active for nearly a decade. In 2019, Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) acquired Southside’s venues and video library when the promotion ceased operations. As part of this transition, Southside’s championship titles were absorbed into RevPro’s lineage.

According to RevPro owner Andy Quildan, the Queen of Southside Championship was officially unified with the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, meaning that the two titles are technically one and the same.

“I’ve never seen a championship belt cause so much confusion and controversy,” Quildan admitted on the Cultaholic Podcast. “The Queen of Southside belt is a legacy title from Southside Wrestling. When RevPro took over, we inherited all their championships, and they were unified with our own.”

Why Does Mercedes Moné Carry It?

Typically, when championships are unified, only the primary title belt is carried going forward—much like what happened with RevPro’s Tag Team and Heavyweight Championships. However, in this case, Moné has personally chosen to continue carrying the Queen of Southside belt alongside the Undisputed British Women’s Championship.

“It’s similar to boxing,” Quildan explained. “Unified, undisputed champions often carry multiple belts. In wrestling, there’s no commission governing each belt separately, so there’s no risk of the titles being split again. If Mercedes Moné decides she only wants to carry the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, she can. Or, she can choose to be covered in gold.”

Given Moné’s history of embracing championship legacies, it’s no surprise she’s opted to carry the belt. Whether it’s a tribute to Southside Wrestling’s history or simply a statement of dominance, one thing is clear—Mercedes Moné is making sure that wherever she goes, she brings gold with her.

New AEW Star Mercedes Mone Was Initially Told Her 2023 Ankle Injury Was Career-Ending

New AEW star Mercedes Mone has revealed that she was informed last year that she would never be able to wrestle again due to an injury she had suffered.

Mone, in a recent interview with “Sports Illustrated,” stated that she suffered a nasty ankle injury in her match with Willow Nightingale last year, following which her doctor told her that she may not be able to wrestle again.

“I got an MRI in May, and the surgeon told me, ‘This is career-ending.’ That was the biggest shock in my whole life. I’d never really been injured like this before,” said the former WWE star.

Despite the shocking prognosis given by her doctor, Mone was determined to get back in the ring, which she also told her doctor.

“It was devastating when I was told I was never going to come back. But I always knew I would be back, and I told that to my surgeon. Now I’m healthy and my surgeon is calling his mentor saying, ‘Look at what happened here, it’s incredible.’ I don’t like being told no. I always believed I would be back, and now it’s true,” said Mone.

The former Sasha Banks added that the ankle injury was extremely painful, even more than her injury at Hell in a Cell, which she called the worst injury in her career. She described her injury as a “fight every day” and detailed how she couldn’t put weight on her ankle for three months.

Mone made her highly-awaited AEW debut his past week on “AEW Dynamite: Big Business,” where she opened the show and explained her reasons for arriving at AEW, even highlighting how she and Nightingale have unfinished business. The former “WWE Raw” Women’s Champion hasn’t wrestled since her match against Nightingale last May, where she lost the NJPW Strong Women’s title to her fellow AEW star.

Mercedes Mone Makes Thunderous AEW Debut In Dynamite: Big Business Opening Segment, Saves Willow Nightingale, Drops Julia Hart At End Of Show

Mercedes Mone is officially All Elite, and “The CEO” has arrived in AEW.

Mone made her debut to open “AEW Dynamite: Big Business” in Boston, to raucous “CEO” chants from her hometown crowd. Mone thanked the crowd for having her back for the past two years and giving her the courage and strength to be there. She said she will be creating “so many moments” with the fans because every single fan is the reason she is now in AEW.

“If you only knew how much tonight means to me… how much wrestling means to me,” Mone said. She also shouted out her childhood hero, Eddie Guerrero. She said he always gave her hope that she too could wrestle one day. She looked to the heavens in the middle of the ring and thanked him. Mone also mentioned leading a women’s evolution, and that her dreams made her become the first-ever woman to main event a pay-per-view, in the same building “Dynamite” was being held in, TD Garden.

Mone said she has been watching “Dynamite” week after week, and she can’t wait to tear it up with every woman in the locker room. Mone specifically called out Willow Nightingale, as the crowd booed, and said they have unfinished business. Mone suffered a serious ankle injury while facing Nightingale during the finals of the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship tournament. The match’s finish reportedly had to be changed on the fly, with Nightingale becoming the first ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. It had been rumored for weeks that Mone would make her debut, and the rumors were fueled by AEW President Tony Khan branding the show “Big Business.” Mone reportedly has been signed to the company since the beginning of 2024.

Capping the “Big Business” episode of “AEW Dynamite,” Willow Nightingale fought off a game Riho in the main event before the lights went out and she was confronted by House of Black’s Julia Hart and attacked from behind by Skye Blue. With the crowd chanting “CEO,” the newest addition to AEW’s roster, Mercedes Mone, emerged from the back to make the save, dropping Blue on the ramp and delivering a boot to the face to Hart before taking her down with the Mone Maker.

Mone’s involvement after the main event means she bookended the show, after kicking things off in spectacular fashion, featuring a new song and an updated look, while sending the crowd into a frenzy. Her debut was long-rumored, and heavily implied since the announcement of “Big Business,” but that took away nothing from the crowd’s enjoyment, and they bought right in, imploring her to make the save for Nightingale, and rejoicing once again when she came back out, wardrobe change and all, ready to take care of business, fittingly.

Nightingale, who finished Riho after a Doctor Bomb, was Mone’s last opponent, besting her at New Japan Pro-Wrestling STRONG Resurgence back in May of 2023 to capture the vacant NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. In that match, Mone suffered an ankle injury that she later revealed was feared to be career-threatening for a time. The former Sasha Banks was reportedly set to win the title that night, with her injury forcing the outcome to be changed on the fly.

Mercedes Mone Reportedly Under Contract To AEW, Will Debut At ‘Big Business’ In Boston

Tony Khan’s latest big announcement officially branded the upcoming March 13 episode of “AEW Dynamite” as “Big Business,” following up on a tweet from the official TD Garden account earlier today. According to Fightful Select (and as anyone with a shrewd eye may have gleaned from the graphic), this special episode will feature the AEW debut of Mercedes Mone.

The report, from both Fightful and Andrew Zarian of “Mat Men Radio,” specified that Mone, formerly Sasha Banks in WWE, has been under contract with AEW since “at least early January,” and though other debut dates had been considered, Wednesday’s announcement in conjunction with the debut in Mone’s hometown of Boston has been finalized for weeks.

From a contract perspective, it was previously reported by Fightful that WWE confirmed talks in late December with the former Women’s Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion ,but that they weren’t able to come to terms. Prior to that, Mone appeared on screen in the crowd at AEW All In in August, leading to speculation that she might debut for the company soon after, but nothing materialized there, either.

Khan called the event “one of the most important nights ever in AEW and a night that the entire pro wrestling industry will remember,” before a graphic promoting the event adorned the screen. On the lower left hand side, underneath the TD Garden logo, the word “BO$$TON” (dollar signs and all) was right there for all the world to see, making this very much “announcing a debut without actually announcing a debut” as Khan and AEW have so memorably done before.

Mercedes Mone Expected To Sign With AEW

Mercedes Mone and AEW continue to be in talks.

According to a report from Fightful Select, talks between Mone and AEW have continued after the former Sasha Banks’ talks with WWE felt apart within the past week or two. Multiple sources say Mone will ultimately land in All Elite Wrestling.

At one point, there were plans for Mone to make her AEW debut at All In 2023, but those plans were scrapped after an agreement couldn’t be reached at the time.

While the belief is that Mone will be signing with AEW, no one has confirmed that ink has been put to paper at this point. Both WWE and AEW have had recent situations where a deal was not signed until the day that they made their debuts (CM Punk and Will Ospreay). One source added, “it’s never official until it’s official.”

Mercedes Mone: “Definitely Expect Me To Be With Some Wrestling Company In 2024”

Mercedes Mone is itching to get back inside the squared circle.

The former WWE Superstar known as Sasha Banks released a Cameo video where she spoke about being ready to get back into the ring, and how she will be with a wrestling company in 2024.

“I cannot wait to return back into the ring,” she said. “So definitely expect me to be with some wrestling company in 2024, for sure.”

Mone continued, “I cannot wait to be in that squared circle. That’s where the most home, it’s where I feel the most alive, and I just can’t wait to be back. I’ve been healing everything, mentally, physically, spiritually, everything. So I’m really excited to get back to what I love and what I do best.”
