NWA Set To Run 70th Anniversary Show

The National Wrestling Alliance will host a 70th anniversary show in October that promises to “honor the fighting spirit and big-bout feel worthy of the NWA name.”

Since Billy Corgan took over, the NWA has largely been relegated to heavyweight championship rather than a promotion that runs traditional shows … with the champion being featured on their YouTube series called “Ten Pounds of Gold.”

That changes on October 21 at the Nashville Fairgrounds, however, with an event that will be produced in association with Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Entertainment and stream on FITE TV. The title will be defended by either current champ Nick Aldis — or his “All In” challenger Cody Rhodes.

“It’s such an honor to be leading this historic brand into its next chapter,” NWA owner Billy Corgan said in a news release. “The enduring legacy of the National Wrestling Alliance — the men who forged it and the champions who defended it — illuminate our path in 2018. This event celebrates our first full year shepherding this brand while honoring the everlasting milestones, legends and champions of the NWA.”

The NWA folks also announced the return of the NWA National title for the Nashville event.

More matches and talent will be announced in coming weeks.

Jeff Jarrett Files Lawsuit Against Anthem Sports

jeff jarrett global force wrestling sue impact wrestling anthem

Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment Inc. have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Anthem Sports and Entertainment alleging the GFW merger never went through and Impact has been wrongfully making money off their IP.

Pro Wrestling Sheet obtained the full lawsuit — which was first reported on by PWInsider — in which Jarrett/GFW claim discussions to merge GFW into Anthem began in December ’16.

In May ’17, the two sides signed a term sheet regarding Jarrett’s employment as Chief Creative Officer of Anthem Wrestling and for the GFW merger. The term sheet, however, allegedly said GFE would retain all rights to the show they filmed called Amped.

Five months later, Jeff Jarrett was released from his position.

As we previously reported, Jarrett was fired from Impact Wrestling while on a leave of absence. The next day a promoter in Canada accused him of passing out in the locker room due to drinking, then insisting on wrestling a match.

Jeff subsequently entered rehab and months later was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

In the lawsuit documents, Jarrett and co. claim the merger was never officially completed yet Anthem “reproduced, distributed, publicly displayed, offered for sale, and sold the GFW Amped content without providing any compensation or royalties to GFE or Mr. Jarrett.”

Global Force Entertainment also has an issue with Impact’s Global Wrestling Network, pointing to the similarity of the logos and claiming Anthem doesn’t have a license to show the Amped footage.

GFE is seeking “an award of punitive and/or treble damages for at least three times the amount of Defendants’ profits or GFE’s damages, whichever is greater, due to the nature of Defendants’ wanton and willful conduct.”

They also want all copies of GFW content erased/deleted from Anthem’s archive.

If you thought newly-inducted WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett was going to bask in the golden glow of his new ring and sit on the sidelines in retirement, you were definitely mistaken.

FITE TV announced on Thursday that they’ll be working with Jarrett’s Global Force Entertainmentto develop sports entertainment content for its digital, live streaming network.

Jeff is described in the announcement released by the company as an “innovator in the development of professional wrestling content.”

“FITE TV is the future of how fans will be watching their favorite combat sports programing,” Jarrett noted in the news release. “This is the right place for GFE programing.”

The company’s lineup of wrestling currently includes Ring of Honor, Shine, Defiant Wrestling, and other independent promotions. FITE says new programming produced alongside Jarrett will be announced at some point over the summer.

Global Force Entertainment had previously been tied with Impact Wrestling, but that relationship was terminated in October 2017. Impact still has a streaming service, however, called the Global Wrestling Network — which was recently plugged on WWE Network.

Below is video of “Road Dogg” Brian James talking to Renee Young at last night’s SmackDown, discussing how he will induct Jeff Jarrett into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 34 weekend in New Orleans. BG called it an honor and a privilege, and said the two have been really good friends as of late. Dogg does tease a potential performance at the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Road Dogg To Induct Jeff Jarrett Into WWE Hall of Fame

WWE just announced that “Road Dogg” Brian James will be inducting Jeff Jarrett into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 34 Weekend in New Orleans.

Road Dogg was at ringside for some of Jeff Jarrett’s biggest triumphs inside the squared circle, so it’s only right that he be the person to induct Double J into the WWE Hall of Fame during the 2018 Induction Ceremony on Friday, April 6, during WrestleMania 34 Week.

Road Dogg arrived in WWE in 1994, then known as The Roadie, acting as Jarrett’s gofer as he tried to use WWE to springboard to country music superstardom. In addition to taking care of Double J’s musical endeavors, Road Dogg wasn’t afraid to meddle in Jarrett’s affairs in the ring, either. That led to the beginning of Road Dogg’s in-ring career with WWE, which saw him go on to become a six-time tag team champion and an Intercontinental Champion.

Of course, there’s also musical controversy between the two, as it was also revealed that Road Dogg provided the vocals for Jarrett’s debut single, “With My Baby Tonight.”

What will Road Dogg say when he introduces the six-time Intercontinental Champion and four-time WCW Champion for enshrinement into the WWE Hall of Fame? Find out during the 2018 Induction Ceremony, streaming live on WWE Network Friday, April 6, at 8 ET/5 PT!

Tickets for the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans are available now.

Former WWE Wrestler Paul Diamond Suggests That Jeff Jarrett Has A Hall Of Fame Career Due To His Father

As a surprise to many, former Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett was recently announced to be inducted into the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame. Jarrett, who was publicly fired by Vince McMahon during the final WCW Nitro telecast, teamed up with his father Jerry Jarrett to form the Total Nonstop Action (TNA) brand. TNA started off with weekly pay-per-views, before landing a television slot in 2004. During the infancy of TNA, names such as AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels, Jerry Lynn, James Storm, and Low Ki were all instrumental in building the brand to national recognition.

In addition, names such as Scott Hall, Rick Steiner, Gangrel, Buff Bagwell, Steve Corino, and Ken Shamrock were all a part of the inaugural show on June 19, 2002, and WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat was the special guest referee of the NWA Championship main event between Ken Shamrock and Malice, which Shamrock won.

In the description of the Hall of Fame resume of Jarrett, WWE mentioned his upbringing in the wrestling industry by his father Jerry.

“Double J’s road to the WWE Hall of Fame began at birth. The son of Tennessee wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett, Jeff grew up around the industry, eventually becoming a referee before competing between the ropes at the age of 18. While many promoters’ sons had entered the ring and flamed out, Jarrett was a prodigy inside the squared circle. It was easy to see that he would be a Superstar as he competed against and alongside the likes of WWE Hall of Famers Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, Nick Bockwinkel and countless others.”

Former WWE tag team star Paul Diamond was a recent guest on the Pancakes and Powerslams Show, and discussed Jarrett going into the Hall of Fame. Diamond, who tagged with and competed against Jeff in their days with the Continental Wrestling Association, felt that Jeff learned a lot by being groomed by his father, and turned out to be a good wrestler.

“Jeff turned out to be a real good talent,” said Diamond. “Jeff had just graduated from high school was 18 years old, and we briefly were tag team partners, but shortly after that is when I first tagged up with Pat Tanaka and actually worked against Jeff and Billy Travis. He was just getting started. Like I said, he was 18 years old, skinny as a rail, and just out of high school. So, he was learning his way, but he did very well. He was a good talent.”

While Diamond praised Jarrett for being a good talent, he has his reservations about Jeff having a stand-alone WWE Hall of Fame resume.

“But wrestling sometimes is not necessarily what we know but who we know,” said Diamond. “Not necessarily that he didn’t deserve the breaks that he got, he was a good talent and a good worker, but at the same time, his father Jerry Jarrett had owned the Tennessee territory there, the Tennessee company.” He added, “I’m just not sure that anybody else that had the same abilities would have got the breaks that he had, had his father not been a promoter.”

Road Dogg Reflects On Jeff Jarrett’s Influence On His Career, Talks Current WWE Stars Jarrett Brought Up In TNA

Image result for Road Dogg reflects on Jeff Jarrett's influence on his career

WWE posted this new video of “Road Dogg” Brian James discussing Jeff Jarrett, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 34 weekend.

Road Dogg says he couldn’t be happier for Jeff as they somewhat came up together as second generation southern Superstars.

“I really had a good time with Jeff growing up,” James said. “He taught me a lot, not just about sports entertainment but being a business man and I think we forget that’s what sports entertainers are. So he taught me a lot about that. Really happy for Jeff Jarrett.”

The WWE reporter did not name TNA but asked James about working with Jarrett outside of WWE and behind-the-scenes.

“Well again and it goes back to what he taught me about being a business man. He was the first guy that I was around in this industry that treated it like a business, and treated himself like the commodity, and how to make money in that business of yourself,” James said. “He’s always been a consummate businessman, a great worker as well as far as in-ring action goes. Again, couldn’t be happy for Jeff Jarrett.”

James was also asked about Jarrett’s influence on today’s WWE Superstars and he said all you have to do is look at SmackDown to see Jeff’s influence. He pointed to how half of the guys Jarrett “brought up & brought in” have titles on SmackDown – WWE Champion AJ Styles and WWE United States Champion Bobby Roode. James also named Samoa Joe and said Jarrett has had a huge influence no the entertainers of today but will also probably influence some going forward.

James then talked about the “Be My Baby Tonight” single that was used as Jarrett’s theme song back in 1996, and how his 14 year old daughter knew all the words when she recently played the song in the car. Road Dogg noted how Jarrett’s induction has brought a tidal wave of comments on the song.

“A lot of people make fun of me for that song or whatever. I really enjoyed recording that song. I consider myself to be a little bit of a singer in the shower so it was cool to actually be in a studio and get to record that song,” James said. “The whole storyline with me and Jeff was interesting and cool at the time. It got cut short due to personal reasons but man, it’s been so cool to feel it all come back. Hopefully it’ll be a great weekend for the Hall of Fame.”
