Shawn Michaels Names Johnny Gargano As Grayson Waller’s Opponent At WWE NXT Stand & Deliver

The ongoing feud between Grayson Waller and WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels has escalated to the “NXT” Stand & Deliver premium live event. During Tuesday night’s special Roadblock episode, Michaels was a guest on “The Grayson Waller Effect.”

During the segment, Waller challenged Michaels to a match, which is when Michaels revealed that former “NXT” Champion and current “Raw” Superstar Johnny Gargano was going to be Waller’s opponent instead. Gargano and Waller have a history that goes all the way back to Gargano’s farewell to “NXT” in December 2021. As he was ending his farewell speech, Waller came out from behind and attacked him. Gargano’s last “NXT” match before he went to the main roster was at the “NXT” WarGames 2021 event.

Waller started his feud with Michaels when he crashed the Vengeance Day post-show media call and was “suspended” for his behavior. Waller returned on the February 14 episode of “NXT,” when he was kicked out of the arena after confronting Michaels backstage. While Waller was being escorted out of the building, he called the WWE Hall of Famer “a hypocrite and a suit” and that “HBK doesn’t exist anymore.”

“NXT” Stand & Deliver is set for April 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. It will be on the same day as night one of WrestleMania 39 and will be starting at 1 PM ET. The only other match announced for Stand & Deliver is Bron Breakker defending the “NXT” Championship against Carmelo Hayes in the main event.

The Undertaker and Kane take out Triple H and Shawn Michaels on RAW (Video)

Shawn Michaels was on RAW to talk about the Triple H vs. The Undertaker match this Saturday in Australia at WWE Super Show-Down.

Excerpt courtesy of WrestleView‘s Mike Tedesco’s RAW recap:

Michaels has the utmost respect for The Undertaker, but any day of the week and twice on Sunday he’d pick his best friend over anybody on God’s green earth. That upset The Undertaker. Undertaker made this personal. Undertaker has Kane in his corner, so Triple H has his brother in his corner. Michaels warns Kane about crowding the ring. If he does, he’ll be brushed back with some Sweet Chin Music.

Kane’s music hits, and the Mayor of Knoxville County appears behind Michaels in the ring. Michaels turns around, and Kane uppercuts him down.

The bell tolls, and Undertaker appears standing in the ring next to Kane! The crowd is going crazy. Undertaker stands over Michaels and signals for the end. Undertaker lifts him up for a Tombstone Piledriver, but Triple H’s music hits! Triple H comes down and punches away at Undertaker. Kane grabs Triple H, but he punches him back. Triple H goes back to punching Undertaker, but Kane grabs him by the throat. Triple H attacks, so Undertaker grabs him. Undertaker hits a Chokeslam on Triple H while Kane hits one on Shawn Michaels (who has a shaved head!). Undertaker and Kane stand tall in the ring before stopping when Triple H comes to. Undertaker then lays him out with a Tombstone Piledriver! Undertaker and Kane then walk up the ramp and pose.

WWE Reportedly Planning Huge Shawn Michaels Singles Match

Image result for shawn michaels 2018

There are rumors of WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels working at least one more match besides the expected tag team match with Triple H against Kane and The Undertaker at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 2.

There is talk of doing a huge singles match with Shawn at the Survivor Series pay-per-view in mid-November, according to the @WrestleVotes Twitter account, which has broken several scoops in the last year or so. Word is that Shawn vs. Taker in a singles match is being planned for the big event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 18. Taker was announced this week for an autograph signing the night before Survivor Series outside of Los Angeles. The report adds that some in the company want the match to take place at the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Shawn has been retired since losing to Taker at WrestleMania 26 in 2010, also in Phoenix. The planned match with Taker at Survivor Series or Royal Rumble would be Shawn’s first singles match since 2010. As we’ve noted, Shawn will be in Triple H’s corner for the match against Taker at WWE Super Show-Down in Australia on October 6. Kane will be in Taker’s corner and word is that this will lead to The Brothers of Destruction vs. Michaels and Triple H at Crown Jewel.

Backstage News On Shawn Michaels Possibly Returning To The Ring This Year

Image result for Shawn Michaels RAW

Shawn Michaels is reportedly coming out of retirement for one more match, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

As seen on RAW this past Monday night, Michaels shot an angle with The Undertaker where Taker taunted Michaels for staying retired, asking if it was out of respect or fear. Taker is scheduled to face Triple H at the WWE Super Show-Down event in Australia on October 6th.

According to The Observer, the internal plan is for Michaels to return to the ring at the next WWE event in Saudi Arabia on November 2nd. WWE had tried to get Michaels to work at the last event in Saudi Arabia, and Meltzer noted that these events are even bigger than WrestleMania financially.

It was noted that Michaels is not scheduled to work a singles match. Given the angle on RAW this past Monday, it would make sense for Michaels to team with Triple H against The Undertaker and a partner. Michaels confirmed on RAW this past Monday that he will be at WWE Super Show-Downin Australia next month for the final battle between Triple H and Taker, so it’s likely that they will setup an angle there for Saudi Arabia.

In an interview with Inside The Ropes last month, Michaels discussed a possible in-ring return and suggested that it may be “more trouble than it’s worth.”

“Let’s just say I did it and the match is phenomenal,” Michaels said. “The reality is this hairline is still what it is — like it’s all hot and sweaty — and even if the match is phenomenal and everything else, you’re still gonna bust my chops because I’ve got no way not to expose to you that I’m 53. That’s the thing — and I don’t mean it in a bad way — but you want me to kip up and everything look as if it was 1996, ’97. That’s not gonna happen because father time waits for no man.

“There’s a lot of stuff like what do you do and even does the young guy benefit when all is said and done. I don’t know, it just seems like more trouble than it’s worth.”

Michaels hasn’t wrestled since losing a retirement match to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVIin 2010.

The Undertaker Returns On RAW and Confronts Shawn Michaels, Sends Warning To Triple H (Video)

The Undertaker (video below) made his return to WWE RAW last night in Columbus.

Undertaker confronted WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who issued a warning to Undertaker about facing Triple H at the upcoming Super Show-Down event in Australia.

While promoting that upcoming match on October 6, the two teased a possible match with Michaels stating he stayed retired out of respect for Undertaker.

Excerpt courtesy of Mike Tedesco’s RAW recap:

“Michaels says he is a man of his word. Somebody had to restore faith in the system and stand and be committed to the words they spoke. Anyone can talk, but they go back on their word after a while. Michaels doesn’t do that. Michaels has stuck to his retirement because he’s a man of his word. Michaels has stayed retired out of respect for the system, the fans, and for The Undertaker. A “One more match” chant picks up. Michaels says every time he steps into an arena, he hears that chant. Undertaker cuts him off and asks if he’s really talking about respect. Michaels says for nearly a decade they’ve clamored for one more match. Half the locker room has beaten down his door for a dream match against him at WrestleMania. Michaels has turned down millions of dollars for one more match. Michaels has stayed retired out of respect for The Undertaker. Another “One more match” chant picks up. Undertaker just stares at Michaels. Michaels turns his back, and Undertaker asks him if it’s respect or fear. Michaels turns and looks furiously at him.”

Shawn Michaels Open To Wrestling One More Match

shawn michaels one more match interview answer

It’s been eight years since he retired from in-ring competition, but Shawn Michaels now says he’d consider stepping back in the ring for one more match if it’s “done the right way.”

The WWE Hall of Famer spoke to Sky Sports to promote his upcoming appearance in London as part of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament later this month and said, “It would have to be done the right way and just for one match rather than something that ran for longer.”

Adding, “It could be possible but people would have to accept they wouldn’t be getting the Showstopper, Mr. Wrestlemania.”

Michaels said goodbye to the WWE Universe and in-ring action in 2010 after being retired by The Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania 26.

So … if a dream match were to occur, who would Michaels wants to be in the ring with? Michaels says, “AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan would be good, and then there’s the guys in NXT too. Someone like a Johnny Gargano would be fantastic.”

Nevertheless, HBK noted “one more match” is much more likely to be a tag team situation where “Hunter and I can just do a few crotch chops and have some fun.”

Shawn Michaels Reveals That He Was Offered Match With AJ Styles At WrestleMania

WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels appeared on the latest episode of The Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast. During the interview with Roberts, Michaels revealed that he was actually offered a match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33.

“I guess I’m breaking something with you and I don’t even know if I should, but I could have had that match,” Michaels said (h/t to Sports Illustrated for the transcription). “They didn’t have an opponent for AJ at WrestleMania. I said that I hadn’t been asked because I hadn’t—but then I was.

“I said, I wish that young man was here 10 years ago, man. I honestly do. I think he’s very talented.”

Michaels has not wrestled since losing a “Career vs. Streak” match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010. He told ESPN earlier this year that Triple H and Vince McMahon had never approached him about a return match, but he thinks that a match with Samoa Joe would be something that he would have enjoyed.

“I look at Samoa Joe and I’ve told him a number of times that I see his stuff at NXT and think to myself, ‘Man, I could have a great deal of fun with you.’ He’s a guy I have sort of enjoyed, and one of those sleeper guys that no one talks about,” Michaels told ESPN in January. “We have contrasting styles. I get that everybody wants to see me and AJ or Seth or Dolph [Ziggler]. From my standpoint, I think really telling a great story out there [is most important]. I could do it with a guy like Samoa Joe. His stuff looks really good, and sometimes he just looks like he’s beating the tar out of somebody.”

Shawn Michaels Lands Role In Star Wars & Avengers Parody Flick

Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has been part of some memorable comedic moments in WWE history … and now his sense of humor is being called into action for a superhero parody movie.

Variety reports that Michaels has been cast in Avengers of Justice: Farce Wars — a spoof of Star Wars and Marvel superhero adventures.

The plot is about superheroes who have been forced into hiding after billions of dollars in damages have been incurred from one too many face-offs with supervillains.

HBK will play a mentor to a character named Superbat, played by Stephen Rannazzisi. Also appearing in the film are Amy Smart and Simon Rex.

May the farce be with him!

Ed’s Perspective : It’s Time To Rumble

image

Without a doubt, The Royal Rumble is my favorite match each year.

As I put together the information in this post, I did one thing very intentional, and that was not look at any of the so called experts and their predictions.

This is a DTRT exclusive article with most of the factual information coming from WWE.com.

Beginning in 1988, on national TV and not PPV, the brainchild of WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson had it’s debut.

Since then, 753 entrants have taken part in what this year will be the 27th annual event. An amazing 455,107 fans have attended the previous Rumbles.

I can’t speak for the other 455,106, but I had an awesome time watching Sheamus win the 2012 version live in St. Louis.

A couple of other interesting bits of Rumble history: HBK has a record 39 eliminations. That is followed closely by Kane with 37 eliminations in his 14 different Rumble matches, and an amazing 11 in 2001 match alone.

For the CM Punk fans who might be depressed by his #1 slot, Rey Mysterio lasted an astonishing 62 minutes and 12 seconds and HBK won the 1995 Rumble from the #1 position.

So, print your scorecard now , look at the following list, check out the predictions of the DTRT staff at the end, and

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!

As of the Jan. 20 edition of Raw, the following Superstars have been announced as official entrants in this year’s 30-Superstar Royal Rumble Match:

Batista
CM Punk (Director of Operations Kane declared Punk will enter the match at No. 1)
Alberto Del Rio
Big E Langston
The Miz
R-Truth
Xavier Woods
Kofi Kingston
Cody Rhodes
Goldust
Rey Mysterio
Fandango
Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins
Dean Ambrose
Erick Rowan
Luke Harper
Damien Sandow
Jimmy Uso
Jey Uso

Exclusive DTRT staff predictions:

John – Batista

Vanessa – CM Punk

I really hope Daniel Bryan pulls double duty cuz if so I’ll pull for him. If not I pick punk..

Trevor – Batista*

I say Batista only because of his current WWE deal puts him in a position to be in the spotlight. Do I think he deserves it? No, he came in last week and now most likely to main event Wrestlemania. This is one time I really hope my prediction is wrong.

Ed – Roman Reigns

All indications point to Batista, so I’m hoping that the creative minds go with someone who has earned the shot to headline Wrestlemania 30.
