TMZ Sports is reporting that Bill Goldberg is in talks with WWE about a possible return to the company.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since his WWE stint, which was from 2003 – 2004. He made an appearance at last year’s Legends of Wrestling event at Citi Field in New York, which saw him come to the aid of Rob Van Dam and hit Scott Steiner and Doc Gallows with his finishers, as seen in the video below:
This past May it was revealed that Goldberg will be a playable character in WWE 2K17, which comes out this October.
Former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg was at Gamescom 2016 today in Cologne, Germany. You can check out his Q&A in the video above, below are some highlights:
Goldberg said that he should be on the cover because he “killed the guy [Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX] that’s on the cover.”
The fans chanted “please come back,” and Goldberg said that for them, he’ll see what he can do.
Goldberg added that he’s headed to New York City, and “that’s all [he] can say about that.” He said that you can never say never, and even at his age he has no issue putting his gear on and “ripping people’s faces off again.” He said he just needs the opportunity to do it. He told the fans to keep doing what they’re doing and it will happen.
Goldberg said he’ll do everything in his power to give the fans what he wants. He said he may be 49 years old, but he’s ready to go at any time anywhere, and all he needs is the call.
Goldberg was asked point blank when he’ll be back in WWE. Goldberg said that he honestly has no idea and doesn’t know if it will ever happen. He said every time there’s a WrestleMania or SummerSlam and people are expecting him, from the bottom of his heart, it’s not up to him. He said not to take it out on him because it’s not up to him.
He was asked about Brock Lesnar. Goldberg said that Brock knows how he feels about him. He noted that they’ve been in the ring and while they didn’t have the best match, Brock knows his power. He said that’s what is missing is someone giving Brock the fight like he gives to everyone else. Goldberg says that Brock knows what would happen, he knows where he lives, and the same thing will happen to Brock that happened at WrestleMania XX.
Goldberg said that he never turns down a challenge and they deserve to see that match. Check out the video below:
Bill Goldberg will be in New York City for WWE SummerSlam weekend, according to PWInsider. Goldberg is set to make appearances for the company but they are likely related to the WWE 2K17 video game. Goldberg is not currently scheduled to appear at the WWE TV tapings and there’s been nothing said about him appearing at SummerSlam.
WWE.com has an interview up with former WCW and WWE star Bill Goldberg where he talks briefly about being involved with the new WWE 2K17 video game release where two versions of his character and two WCW arenas (Nitro and Halloween Havoc) will be available as part of a pre-order.
“It’s a dream come true. To be able to come back and be included in WWE 2K17, it’s a huge honor. It’s just a really cool deal to be a character in WWE 2K17. Whether it’s Nitro or Halloween Havoc, to have me as an available character, it’s really cool. It’s a tribute.”
It was reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that 2K Sports signed the deal with Bill Goldberg for the WWE 2K17 video game, not WWE. It should also be noted that they couldn’t include Goldberg in the game or even make a deal without Vince McMahon’s approval. However, we’ve seen with The Ultimate Warrior and Sting that a 2K deal could lead to something with WWE.
The “#Hatch” teasers ended up being for Bill Goldberg and the WWE 2K17 video game, which is set to be released on October 25th.
Goldberg will be a playable character in the game and is being advertised as a pre-order bonus.
Here is the press release form 2K Sports:

New York, NY – May 31, 2016 – 2K today announced that legendary WCW® and WWE® star Bill Goldberg will make his virtual return in WWE® 2K17, the forthcoming release in the flagship WWE video game franchise. Best known for his unprecedented 173-0 singles competition win streak in WCW from 1997 to 1998, Goldberg will appear in WWE 2K17 through two playable characters representing his WCW and WWE personas. “After 12 years away from the business, I’m incredibly honored to work with WWE and 2K while following in the footsteps of such greats as Ultimate Warrior, Sting and Arnold Schwarzenegger,” said Goldberg. “My son was a big part of this coming together, and I can’t wait for him to see his dad kicking ass in a WWE ring through the magic of video games. I encountered the likes of The Rock, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Ric Flair during my WWE career, and now through WWE 2K17, I’ll be taking on the biggest and baddest Superstars of today – showing them once and for all that I am still ‘Da Man!'”
During his WCW and WWE career, Goldberg held several notable championships, including the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, WWE World Heavyweight Championship, WCW United States Heavyweight Championship and WCW World Tag Team Championship alongside WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. In 1998, as a result of his in-ring success and growing popularity, WCW began counting Goldberg’s consecutive wins on television. In addition, his popular catchphrase, “Who’s Next?” quickly caught on with fans and in part defined his career.
Following his WWE retirement in 2004, Goldberg appeared in a number of films, including The Longest Yard and Universal Soldier: The Return. He also remained a national television fixture, joining the ninth season cast of the popular NBC reality series, The Celebrity Apprentice, and serving as host of Garage Mahal for two seasons on DIY Network. In addition to his film and television endeavors, Goldberg served as a color commentator for several mixed martial arts promotions and developed his own podcast, Who’s Next with Goldberg, via PodcastOne. Goldberg was inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
“Goldberg’s return to WWE action through two WWE 2K17 playable characters, along with the WCW Monday Nitro and Halloween Havoc arenas, collectively delivers a unique opportunity to experience one of WWE’s true living legends,” said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K. “Fans can now relive many of their favorite Goldberg moments, as well as create brand new ones, as they decide ‘Who’s Next?’ in the virtual ring.”

Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall reportedly refused to sign a Birthday card 6 year old Danny Nickerson, who is battling brain cancer & may not have much time to live.
Some of those who signed the card & sent well wishes in the video above included – Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Edge, Bret Hart, Angelina Love, Candice Michelle, Christy Hemme, Lita, Sean Waltman, Maria Kanellis, Lisa Marie Varon, Taryn Terrell, Brooke Tessmacher & Zeus.
Goldberg & Hall have had issues with each other in the past & it was reported that the two actually made peace at this same event. Knowing how Goldberg feels about helping children & seeing how he got choked up in the video for Danny, you have to wonder if he made up with Hall before or after he got word that Hall refusing to sign the card.

On a personal note, I love what Zeus had to say in the video. What a great message, Zeus had for Danny. I know all of us here at DTRTwrestling.com share the same opinion expressed by Zeus.
In a new interview with Jim Ross on The Ross Report, Bill Goldberg confirmed that he had recent talks with WWE about a return, but they didn’t go to far. He did let the company know that he’s interested.
Goldberg said he would like to wrestle Roman Reigns, Triple H & Brock Lesnar. He said he would let WWE decide those details. He said he has unfinished business with Triple H & Lesnar & is interested in Reigns because they both played college football at Georgia.
Goldberg said he doesn’t watch WWE these days but he hears about some of the things going on through Twiter. He does still talks to some wrestlers, including Lesnar, but never about wrestling.
