Jeff Jarrett Talks Finding GFW TV Deal, Streaming The Show, Working With TNA

Global Force Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett talked to RVA MAG recently about finding a TV deal.

Finding a TV deal for GFW:

“We are making moves. It’s been a real challenge for us to line up a domestic situation as well as international deals. I’m heading over to London in a couple of weeks to further those moves. The first set of tapings were great. We got plenty of one hour episodes and we’ve got the crowning of the champions in October. With that and the Grand Slam tour as well, it’s been no rest for the weary, but it’s exciting time in the still the very early days of Global Force Wrestling.”

Possibly airing on Netflix or Hulu:

“All of the above and I don’t want to specifically say Netflix or Hulu. The world of 2015 is so interesting. You wouldn’t be asking that question even, what would you say, two or three years ago? It’s interesting just how everyone consumes their information. Not just wrestling or television. Your phone is a source of news, entertainment, games, apps. It’s just a different world. I’ve said it for a year now: my goal is if you’re a GFW fan, you’ll have access to watch it all across the globe. There’s a huge component to that. I won’t call it streaming, but there’s a big component in the online world for Global Force.”

Working with TNA again:

“You know, it’s a business. My family’s been in this business for over 70 years so I’ve seen a lot of situations where you’d say those folks would never work together again and they did. Business is business and when it’s a win-win-win-a win for our promotion, a win for their promotion, and more importantly, a win for the wrestling fan – it’s really hard not to do a deal. So we put a lot of things in the past and in our rear view mirrors on both sides and moved forward. It’s a pretty exciting time. All the positive momentum that’s coming from the working relationship between TNA and GFW is just a great thing.”

Global Force Wrestling issued the following today:

RIDGEROCK ENTERTAINMENT, GLOBAL FORCE WRESTLING TEAM UP TO PROMOTE THE MASKED SAINT THE MOVIE’S STAR BRETT GRANSTAFF AND JEFF JARRETT WILL LEAD A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE “ROWDY” RODDY PIPER

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 12, 2015) – Ridgerock Entertainment Group and Global Force Wrestling have teamed up for events to promote the Jan. 8, 2016, theatrical release of The Masked Saint (Freestyle Releasing). The joint agreement will showcase the film’s commitment to the integrity of professional wrestling and focus on family entertainment. This coincides with the mission of GFW, which has brought new excitement and true family entertainment to the world of professional wrestling. This exciting partnership will be kicked off during GFW’s second TV taping at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Friday, Aug.21.

“We are honored to be working with the filmmakers of The Masked Saint,” said Jeff Jarrett, GFW founder and CEO. “Wrestling fans around the nation will enjoy this movie not only for its action-packed content, but also for the ‘fighting for justice’ message it portrays. We can’t wait to introduce them to this great movie.

“Roddy was scheduled to join us for the August show at the Orleans. In fact, I had spoken with him the day before he passed. He was a great friend and a great entertainer, and I was deeply saddened by the shocking news.”

A family-oriented action biopic inspired by true event, The Masked Saint is written by Scott Crowell and Brett Granstaff, directed by Warren P. Sonoda, produced by Cliff McDowell, co-produced by David Anselmo and executive produced by Gary Granstaff and Joe Sisto. The movie stars Brett Granstaff (Vice) as Christopher ‘The Saint’ Samuels, Lara Jean Chorostecki (Hannibal) Oscar and Emmy nominee Diahann Carroll (“Grey’s Anatomy,” White Collar) who won a Golden Globe for her performance in “Julia,” Patrick McKenna (“The Red Green Show”), James Preston Rogers (Pixels) and features the late Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper in his last confirmed theatrical release.

“We are thrilled to partner with the high-energy, fan-friendly brand of GFW,” says Gary Granstaff, vice president at Ridgerock Entertainment Group. “We couldn’t think of a better way to debut our movie to the millions of wrestling fans than with the help of Jeff Jarrett, a true wrestling legend and his organization.”
