GFW Expanding Relationship With Pro Wrestling NOAH

GFW issued following:

Global Force Wrestling Welcomes Back Stars From Pro Wrestling NOAHIshimori To Compete At Destination-X; GFW Stars Moose & Eddie Edwards Will Compete in Japan In October

Nashville – Global Force Wrestling (GFW), a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., announced today that it is expanding its talent exchange with Tokyo-based Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Taiji Ishimori, the three-time and reigning Global Honored Crown (GHC) Junior Heavyweight Champion from Pro Wrestling NOAH, returns to IMPACT Wrestling on Thursday, Aug. 17, to participate in Destination-X, live on Pop TV and broadcast to more than 120 countries worldwide. Ishimori was a show-stealer in his GFW debut on July 2, at Slammiversary 15, originating from The Impact Zone on the backlot of Universal Studios Florida.

Ishimori was joined at Slammiversary by Naomichi Marufuji.

“All of us at GFW are excited to continue to grow our relationship with Pro Wrestling NOAH,” said GFW Vice President of International Relations Scott D’Amore. “Having Ishimori back competing in the six-sided GFW ring at Destination-X shows our commitment to showcasing the very best athletes from around the world.”

There is no confirmation yet on additional Pro Wrestling NOAH talent that will be in Orlando for Destination-X and the ensuing TV tapings for IMPACT Wrestling, D’Amore said.

GFW stars also will be heading to Japan later this year to participate in Great Voyage 2017, vol. 2 from Pro Wrestling NOAH on Sunday, Oct. 1. GFW stars Moose and Eddie Edwards will be competing in Japan. Edwards was in Japan earlier this year, along with “Cowboy” James Storm.

“GFW is excited and honored to be part of the Great Voyage from Pro Wrestling NOAH,” D’Amore said. “Moose and Eddie Edwards are two amazing athletes who will be great representatives for GFW and IMPACT Wrestling.

“These talent collaborations are examples of how GFW and its international promotional partners continue to work together on an unprecedented level to provide a truly global audience with the very best action in the wrestling business.”

Jeff Jarrett Says GFW Is Looking At Taking PPVs On The Road, Will Add Another PPV To Their Lineup

Jeff Jarrett did a media conference call earlier this week to address a number of topics involving Global Force Wrestling. WrestlingINC.com owner Raj Giri was on the call and asked Jarrett if GFW had discussed moving pay-per-views out of the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida.

“It has to make financial sense,” Jarrett said. “It goes without saying that, you know, taking Impact on the road several years ago was a financial disaster and so you have to methodically look at every decision and make sure that it makes financial sense.”

The then-branded TNA Wrestling saw growth from 2008 to 2009 before taking Impact on the road in 2010. They have tried to regain traction ever since.

“But you know, we’re going to start with our live events and again, I’ll say put our toe back in the water. We realize that we’re not going to put an event on sale and it’s going to go clean and sellout. Quite frankly, the WWE doesn’t do that for live events. But they’re out there, they’re touring. An organization, publicly traded, been around 50-plus years, so they’re brand awareness in every market they go they don’t have that situation.”

Jarrett explained that GFW has to build brand awareness, so it’s important to get back out in key markets.

“We’re obviously in a re-branding situation in every sense of the word,” said Jarrett. “And so we’re getting back out in the markets and we’ve got to make the right decisions. That’s why we’re excited to partner with NOAH, partner with AAA, get into these markets.”

Jarrett then revealed that they do plan on taking pay-per-views out of the Impact Zone and to add one more pay-per-view next year.

“Raj, to go back to answer your question, absolutely we’re looking at taking [pay-per-views on the road],” Jarrett said. “Not just Bound For Glory, but we’re looking at adding another live pay-per-view to our schedule in 2018.”

Reby Hardy Angrily Responds To Jeff Jarrett’s Recent Broken Universe Agreement Claim

reby hardy matt jeff jarrett broken universe

The “Broken Universe” dispute between Jeff Jarrett and The Hardys isn’t over yet … despite the two sides reaching an agreement last week.

Yesterday in a teleconference call, Jarrett claimed that no deal had been reached with the Hardy family and that GFW still owns The Broken Universe trademark.

Reby Hardy took to Twitter to respond shortly after and said, “I’m going to have to start “clarifying” things by recording phone calls, apparently. Everything out of this loser’s mouth is BS. Why tho ?”

The wife of Matt Hardy continued, “We had agreement terms as of LAST WEEK. Included non-disparagement clause to the tune of 5k every time I tweet something about TNA… …but according to @RealJeffJarrett, there is nothing ? OKAY !”

For now, it appears that the Broken references on Raw this week will remain just that.

GFW Suspends Alberto El Patron Indefinitely

Following his recent domestic dispute with Paige at the Orlando International Airport this past Sunday, GFW announced that they have suspended GFW World Heavyweight Champion Alberto El Patron.

Below is their full statement:

Global Force Wrestling has indefinitely suspended Alberto El Patron, effective immediately, until the investigation is resolved following a recent incident in Orlando, Florida.

GFW had said they would conduct their own internal investigation before making any decision — but it appears like the incident’s audio recording was enough to help GFW officials make up their minds.

It’s unclear if Patron will still be featured on Impact, since the company already taped the next few weeks of programming and he’s a central figure to the storylines.

According to police, the situation is still an active “ongoing domestic violence investigation.”

Audio Released Of Alberto El Patron’s Airport Altercation With Paige

The airport altercation between GFW Global Champion Alberto El Patron and WWE Superstar Paige was recorded via audio by a witness — and it’s clear there was no third party involved.

TMZ released audio of Paige yelling “stay out of my life” and “leave me the f*ck alone” as she argued with El Patron in public on Sunday at Orlando International Airport.

Paige can also be heard saying, “I’m trying to get away from you. All the time.”

GFW Reportedly Stopped Alberto El Patron From Shooting On WWE

Alberto El Patron ripped WWE after last Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view. He was seemingly ready to shoot on WWE again after last night’s Impact Wrestling tapings, however GFW reportedly turned his music up so loud that it stopped him. Here are details from Wrestling Inc. reader Lyne, who was at the show:

El Patron grabs a mic for a shoot. He says it’s “that time of the night” when he talks about “that company in Stamford.” His attorney, however, called him last night and asked him “what the f–k are you thinking” as he recently “lost enough money from his divorce.” At that point, production cut the mic and played his music. El Patron shouted over the music saying he “has enough voice to scream.” His music played louder. El Patron tried to continue before giving up.

Jeff Jarrett Explains Decision To Re-Brand Impact Wrestling As GFW

Jeff Jarrett was a guest on Wednesday’s episode of Busted Open with Dave Lagreca and Larry Dallas where he discussed the rebranding of Global Force Wrestling.

“Obviously we’ve had our ups and downs and in-betweens between myself — not just professionally — but personally with Impact,” said Jarrett. “And then, you know, I launched Global Force Wrestling and it’s so ironic how things have come together.”

Jeff Jarrett co-founded Total Nonstop Action Wrestling with his father Jerry in 2002. They ended up selling the company to Panda Energy later that year, with Jeff staying on as a minority owner.

“In the early days it was TNA and the name of the television show was Impact,” Jarrett continued. “And then it got into early 2010-2011 it was called Impact Wrestling and where does TNA stand? So I’ll be the first one to say it was a bit of confusion as far as the brand. And as an older promoter once said, ‘If you confuse them, you lose them.’ That old saying goes a long way.”

Earlier this year, TNA was purchased by Anthem Sports & Entertainment and Dixie Carter resigned as Chairwoman after 14 years at the helm. Jarrett later returned and has now merged the company he founded with his 2015 upstart Global Force Wrestling.

“In one essence we’re back to the way it was originally branded,” said Jarrett. “The name of the television show that comes on Thursday nights on Pop TV and Friday nights on Spike TV in the United Kingdom, Friday nights on Sony 6 on India. The name of the television show is Impact and now the name of the brand, as you stated, is GFW. So we’re really excited. We realize it’s not going to happen overnight. You know, the confusion didn’t happen overnight so the re-brand is not going to happen overnight but we’re heading in that direction.”

Jarrett stated the buzz at this past Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view was one of excitement, comparing it to the company’s glory days.

“I can’t state enough just the buzz in the building Sunday night almost felt — I hate to, I’m not one to look back in the rearview mirror — but in essence, you know, we’ll call it the glory days of TNA, it really, really felt good on Sunday night,” said Jarrett. “The Impact Zone so to speak was rocking, it was off the charts; they seemed to really enjoy the show that went down the 15th anniversary show of Slammiversary on Sunday night.”
