The DTRT Wrestling Timeline To Wrestlemania XXX

Two weeks from tonight and it will be Wrestlemania XXX and DTRTWrestling.com is going into full-court press mode from now until Mania is in the books for another year. Yes that’s a March Madness reference right here in the middle of talking about The Super Bowl of Professional Wrestling (or Sports Entertainment for those who aren’t old school and prefer to toe the “company” line).

Here is how we plan to show that we are up to the task of taking this site to the next level and being the organization where you can get print coverage, right here on the flagship of the DTRTWrestling.com brand AND online radio coverage at DTRTWrestling.com Radio on Blog Talk Radio.

The following will take place on the radio portion of our organization. You can listen to these shows live or in archive immediately following the live broadcast.

Raw Post-Show – Monday 3/24 at 11:30 eastern; 10:30 central; and 8:30 pacific. A quick 30 minute recap of tomorrow’s Raw.

Raw Post-Show – Monday 3/31 at 11:30 eastern; 10:30 central; and 8:30 pacific. A longer recap as we take a look at the final Raw before Mania. Should be plenty on the agenda that night.

SmackDown Live Coverage – Friday April 4th at 8 eastern; 7 central; and 5 pacific. We will be doing a radio version of live blogging/tweeting for the very first time. Being the last show prior to the 30th anniversary of Wrestlemania, no telling what will happen, and yes we will carry it live (well, live when it’s broadcast).

WWE Hall of Fame Coverage – Live; Saturday April 5th beginnig at 9 eastern; 8 central; and 6 pacific.

Wrestlemania XXX Pre-Show – Sunday April 6th. That is right, we are going right up against The WWE Network and their pre-show. Why you might ask, well as many of you know – not everyone is paying the $9.95 a month and getting the awesome programming, so we want to provide an alternative, and that’s what we will do.

Finally a quick look at the DTRTWrestling.com staff and the different things you can expect from each of us.

John Bass – John does an awesome job with the Raw preview and recap each week. He has also been on top of many announcements and breaking news.

Vanessa V – Vanessa live tweets each week during Raw, does the weekly Total Divas report and is our featured MMA correspondent. She recently got her feet wet with by doing her first live interview with MMA star Shayna Baszler . She will be a big part of the radio broadcast team from now through Wrestlemania XXX.

Trevor is the heart and soul of DTRTWrestling.com. One of the two co-founders of this product, he constantly stays in touch with breaking news, the nuts and bolts of managing an online production, amazing work with audio and graphics, and the list goes on and on.

Ed Boston is the other co-founder of DTRTWrestling.com. He will be the “captain” of our radio team and will continue to share his personal insights all the way up through Wrestlemania XXX.

Please join us as we have a blast bringing coverage of The Super Bowl of Professional Wrestling – Wrestlemania XXX to you. And do us a favor – “like us”, “follow us” and share us with your wrestling friends.

Ed Does TNA Impact Live Coverage On Wrestling Inc.com

Ed Boston on the mic

Our very own, Ed Boston – co-founder of DTRT Wrestling.com, will be once again doing “TNA Impact Wrestling Results, Live Coverage & Your Feedback” on Wrestling Inc.com tonight.

Here is a link to his coverage from last week.

Ed’s Perspective: Thoughts On Various Topics; Looking Forward to Turning Point

  • TNA:  As I normally leave posts on TNA to our two resident experts – Trevor and John, I thought I would mention that I’m looking forward to tonight’s Turning Point PPV. I can’t wait to see Jeff Hardy defend his title in a ladder match. You know there are going to be some nasty bumps in this one!
  • WWE: This is Ed the fan speaking – the best thing the WWE could do right now is make RAW a two-hour show again. Oh yes, there are plenty of other things I could suggest, but for me personally 3 hours of RAW every week is too much. Maybe I’ll throw up a poll asking what your opinion on this is, but all the different WWE programming on each and every week plus a PPV every month – JUST GIVE ME TWO AWESOME HOURS OF RAW!
  • HPW: What an awesome show Jerry Wilson and Hoosier Pro Wrestling put on last week in Columbus, IN. It is fun to have the big name stars come to town, but I want to give a huge shout out to the regular roster of HPW stars who give it their all, each and every month. And to my friend Jerry Wilson – you do an amazing job of providing us with the very best in Indy Wrasslin’ .
  • New Era Wrestling: Excited about heading back to Shelbyville, IN to cover New Era Wrestling for the second time. I am so getting into the Indy Promotions and the love getting to know the men and women behind the scenes. I know I’m going to see another good show.
  • DTRT Wrestling News Radio: Trevor and I are kicking around the idea of doing two 30 minute shows each week and adding a co-host. We’ll have an announcement soon in regards to this. We would love to have our listeners share our broadcast info with their friends. You don’t have to listen live, every episode is archived and can be downloaded any time at this link: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/dtrtwrestlingnews
  • And finally a special shout out to the crew here at DTRT Wrestling News: You 3 are awesome! Trevor, my partner in this endeavor, works so hard behind the scenes that I could never say enough positives about him and the fantastic work he does. John, you do great work with the recaps each week. I’m looking forward to bigger and better things from you in the future – I know you have it in you! And finally to Vanessa, our newest contributor – what a breath of fresh air you are to our site. You keep on doing what you do – and that is writing entertaining, insightful  material from your own perspective. You are a great addition to the DTRT Wrestling News Staff

Trevor Recruiting Help From AJ Fans

I have had a long and busy week, and added in with my private life business, my young friend and co-founder of DTRT Wrestling, Trevor, has decided to get busy in our little “disagreement” over Raw GM AJ Lee and the awesome cougar herself Vickie Guerrero. Last night, while busy covering a live wrestling event I checked our Facebook page and found the following:

@DTRTwrestling

The battle of generations continues between our site’s own writers Ed and Trevor!

Will Trevor be at the Raw live chat Monday night along with Ed as usual or will he leave Ed to run everything himself?

Will AJ have to face someone from the WWE board of directors on Monday night? Will it perhaps be Mr. McMahon? And most importantly is her position as Raw GM going to come to an End?

Here’s Ed’s latest response to Trevor posted today
http://ow.ly/doQWa
Stay updated here http://DTRTwrestlingnews.com/

Then after coming home I find that Trevor (I may soon have to nickname him “Trevor the Traitor”) had been out recruiting help for his cause with one of our affliates at Miss April.org .

Trevor has contacted me for all AJ fans to back him/team up and show support for AJ Lee in this debate.

You can read the entire post from Miss April.org by clicking this link.

The evidence is all right there in the post. Trevor is trying to influence the poll we currently have running here on our site. He is recruiting help from all over the world, as I must admit the folks at Miss April.org have a fine website promoting the Raw GM and they have a huge following.

[poll id=”12″]

Well, I’m not going to play games by saying who is or who isn’t going to work the Raw Live Blog (Trevor is co-founder, but I’m still “The Boss”) or play a video for you again as I did in the link above.

I’m going straight to Vickie Guerrero herself, and BTW she knows who we are here at DTRT Wrestling News.

For Mature Individuals Only – AJ Need Not Apply

Booker T’s interview is interrupted by Vickie Guerrero who has a big problem with Raw General Manager AJ Lee.

I got tied up with things here at the house and a little thing called “My 50th Birthday” so I had wanted to make this post a couple of days ago. However, it must have been “in the cards” because on last night’s Smackdown – GM Booker T (a real GM, by the way), said things just the way I wanted them. It was almost as if I had been part of the creative team, but the video above says it all.

My partner (for now) on DTRT Wrestling News, Trevor made the following tweet:

Being the more mature individual I let Trevor know how I would respond:

I will close with this comment to my young and immature partner:

Trevor – FYI, it’s never a good thing to call “The Boss” a coward in public.

Really Ed? You Want To Go There?

A response to Ed Boston by @TrevorDecker

It’s late at night but I wanted to check the progress on our site’s new layout. I was not expecting this post from someone who is trying to establish a legit wrestling news website. Where do you get off demanding respect for Vickie Gaurrero just because you both are probably close in age?

What is it with the older generations hating on AJ Lee? AJ and I come from the same generation and truth be told we started watching wrestling around the same time. We both grew up watching the “Attitude Era” that the older crowd complains needs to come back and get rid of the “PG era”.

AJ represents my generation, a generation that was taught through watching WWE to defend yourself and never take crap from anyone. AJ has worked hard to get where she is today. She payed her dues climbed the ladder and more then earned the position of Raw general manager.

Vickie put herself in that situation this past Monday night by going out to the ring and showing AJ disrespect first. As the leader of Raw how do you think AJ Lee felt having Vickie go on international television talking trash about her? Are you honestly going to try to tell me that Vickie deserves respect after the way she has publicly humiliated AJ Lee?

Respect is earned not given Ed, and AJ Lee was justified in her actions based on Vickie’s continued assault on AJ Lee’s ability to lead.

Going out and publicly trashing your boss is uncalled for. AJ Lee is not now or has she ever been “unstable”. AJ is a person who has had to deal with a verbally abusive boyfriend in Daniel Bryan who then had the guts to ask her to merry him after humiliating her by breaking up with her on television. AJ is now finally finding her strength and courage again. AJ is a talented, smart women who as Raw GM has earned respect but still fights every single day to receive it.

I ask you to watch this video of Daniel publicly breaking up with AJ after Wrestlemania. Are you seriously going to defend Vickie who was already Smackdown GM once after watching this shocking video?

AJ vs Vickie – Maybe This Should Be About RESPECT

My partner here at DTRT Wrestling News, Trevor, was curious about what I thought of  his post dealing with what happened on Raw this past Monday between GM AJ Lee and Vickie Guerrero. So instead of commenting on the post, I thought I should lay out for everyone exactly what I think.

I’m not sure Trevor is going to be happy with me!

What you may or may not know about Trevor, and for our friends and affiliates who run AJ fan sites – please forgive me, but Trevor has got to be the biggest AJ fan in the entire world! Ask him what his ringtone is – never mind I’ll tell you, it’s AJ’s entrance music. Look at the number of posts with Trevor’s name and see what  percentage of them that has AJ as the subject matter. I love how much Trevor enjoys the “Crazy Chick”!

That said, where does the GM of RAW, who hasn’t even gotten her feet wet yet, get off attacking a well established professional like Vickie Guerrero? Check out this post and you’ll see what I think about Vickie.

EXXXCCCUUUSSE ME, but is there no respect from any of the younger generation for those who paved the way for them. First it’s CM Punk and his cowardly attack on Jerry “The King” Lawler, and now Miss Skippy pummels a member of the legendary Guerrero family.

I’ve been a fan of AJ and thought she was doing a pretty good job as the Raw GM. However, I have been disappointed that she didn’t address the Punk / Lawler issue and now this. Kinda strange there’s a lot of old vs young scenarios here and since I’m the “old” one of this site, I’ll be interested to see how my young sidekick Trevor takes up for the “sweet and innocent” AJ after this – who knows maybe he’ll send her a new teddy bear that needs tucked in.

My Inspiration For This Site

A few days ago I was at the house of one of my daughters. My daughter told my oldest grand child to “go ahead and show Papaw, he likes wrestling”. Next thing I know, Isabella – shown above – was doing her best John Cena impression of  You Can’t See Me!

Here is how the rest of the conversation went:

Me: What was that?

Izzy: John Cena doing You Can’t See Me.

Me: Where did you learn that?

John Cena is on Fred (Fred: The Show on Nickelodeon).

Me: John Cena is on WHAT?

Izzy: John Cena plays Fred’s dad.

So there you have it. My 6 year old grand daughter is a fan of John Cena because of a kid’s show on Nick. Ah but there’s more.

A couple of days ago, I took Isabella to the pool at their apartment complex. There was a couple of kids that Isabella was playing with who were probably about 8 and 10 years old. Once again, the next thing I know, all three of them are doing You Can’t See Me in the pool and were all talking about Fred. I asked the other two kids if they liked wrestling. The boy who was the younger of the two said yes, and the girl said no. I asked the boy who his favorite wrestler was and of course it was John Cena.

Now, let me regress a little bit. After the first time seeing my grand daughter wave her hand in front of her face and her informing me that John Cena played Fred’s dad, later that night I sent a text to my friend and partner here on DTRT Wrestling News, Trevor and told him what I had seen and heard and how cool I thought it was that Izzy had done that. I also wanted to verify with Trevor that in fact Cena does appear on the Fred show – for those who may not know, Trevor is a much better source for me than Google or Wikipedia.

Trevor’s response was, “Yes it’s true, he does.” and then added “Fred started on YouTube.”

Now let’s move back ahead to just after the kids in the pool doing their Cena impressions, which made a real impression on me. My next text was again to Trevor asking, “How can we capture that audience?’

As is usually the case with Trevor, he had an immediate response, “We cover more Cena… make a kids section with brighter colors, big buttons, and free games to play”.

This is a project that is under construction, but it’s up and we are ready to roll.

So there you have it. The inspiration for DTRT Wrestling News 4 Kids!

Thank you Isabella for being Papaw’s inspiration for this site and for so many other things in my life!

Viewpoint: Ed Is Trying To Play Catch Up

Ok, I need to get caught up on a few things since I was unexpectedly away from computer activity for several days.

First, I thoroughly enjoyed the Money in the Bank PPV. The final match with Cena winning the MITB contract was outstanding. I believe he and Jericho stole the show. I’m still shaking my head over Cena putting Big Show through the announce table. My only real disappointment of the night was the AJ/Punk/Bryan triangle. Don’t get me wrong, the match itself was brutally exciting, but the lead up with AJ’s part being so good, I thought the ending to that match was disappointing.

I also wanted to mention that live blogging is much more difficult than what it sounds. As a fan, I wanted to be glued to every second. But we wanted to provide our viewers an up-to-date account of the event. I hope you enjoyed it, and even though we will not be doing it all the time, the plan is to do so on special occasions, which will be announced in advance.

With that said, expect us to have tons of coverage of the RAW 1000 event on Monday. Trevor and I are still finalizing how we will cover this, but I believe it will be a very special night for WWE fans old and new.

My apologies for not getting a more detailed update of MITB as I had planned, as well as not doing my normal RAW Recap. Those few days away from the computer were a killer for me and staying current.

I need to check how Trevor and I did on our predictions for MITB.

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS R-TRUTH & KOFI KINGSTON VS. HUNICO & CAMACHO

Trevor and I both predicted that R-Truth and Kofi would win.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH FOR A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CONTRACT

I predicted Tyson Kidd, Trevor couldn’t decide between Kidd and Sin Cara. Both of us were wrong as Dolph  Ziggler walked out with the briefcase.

MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH FOR A WWE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTRACT

Ed’s Prediction: Crank up “Break The Walls Down” cause it’s gonna be Chris Jericho.Trevor’s Response:  Not to sure on this one but I’ll go with John Cena.

Way to go Trevor, and John Cena. As I said earlier I think Cena and Jericho stole the show and I’m very happy for Cena.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION SHEAMUS VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO

Trevor and I both correctly picked Sheamus.

WWE CHAMPION CM PUNK VS. DANIEL BRYAN

I predicted that AJ would turn heel and help Bryan defeat Punk. Trevor couldn’t decide who would win the match but had this to say about AJ:  “All eyes will be on AJ she wins either way.”

I was for sure wrong on my prediction and I will leave it up to everyone reading this to decide how to take Trevor’s comment. AND is it just me or does Trevor kinda have a thing for AJ? But wait, what man in his right mind wouldn’t – so never mind.

Finally, I am really looking forward to RAW 1000. We had hoped to break the news that we would be covering the event live in St. Louis. That didn’t happen, but don’t forget 8 pm eastern with DX leading off the show. ARE YOU READY?

Viewpoint: Mid South Wrestling Library – A Good Thing for WWE Fans

Forget being professional here for a few minutes while I tell this story. I feel like a little kid and want to share that excitement with you.

Several days ago, Trevor and I were discussing the SmackDown taping in Evansville, Indiana. Since I’m much older than he, I sent him the following email:

Some history on the Lawler/Swagger bit on Smackdown. The King made his fame in what was called Mid-South Wrestling based in Memphis, his hometown. Each week, yes each week – Mid South did shows in Louisville, Nashville, Memphis, and Evansville (where Smackdown was taped). There was a weekly program that aired in our area on Saturday morning that was done in studio and was not from the weekly arena shows (even though they sometimes would show something very significant). The Saturday program would set the scene for the upcoming weeks matches and the interviews were done specific for each of the markets. It was some of the best wrestling that I have ever watched.
Many WWE Superstars came through Mid-South wrestling back in the day. Sid, Undertaker (Mean Mark Callus – not sure on spelling), Lawler, Jimmy Valient, CoCo B Ware, and many others.
I’m sure that was WWE’s way of getting Lawler a good pop in front of his old faithful fans. I thought it was an excellent touch by WWE!.
Forgive me if my spelling was off on some of the names, it was a personal email and not intended for publication. This was a few days before Trevor sent me a link to Jr’s Weekly blog  were JR makes the following comment:
Now that WWE has purchased the Mid South Wrestling library, fans will get to step even farther back in time as I expect WWE to produce a Mid South DVD at some point in the future. Bill Watts produced one of the best, one hour, weekly and episodic, wrestling shows ever with the sole focus of selling tickets to live events which meant getting the stars established and embellishing the personal issues that existed.

Imagine my excitement when I realized there will be future opportunities to watch Mid South Wrestling once again! Every week was action packed. With only one hour including commercials, there non-stop action. So many things I can remember just off the top of my head and without the use of a search engine to find:

Heel turns so plentiful that you never knew who was friends with who if you missed a week, Lawler throwing fire, Dirty Dutch Mantel bringing his bull whip with him, the announcers enter action with the wrestlers while the match was happening (since it was right in studio), The Boogie Woogie Man making his entrance. I’m so excited writing about it – that my objectivity is no where to be found.  This is my childhood flashing in front of my eyes.

If you grew up on Mid South Wrestling like I did, I’m sure you too are looking forward to what the WWE has in store. If you’ve never heard of or seen Mid South Wrestling, don’t miss out when that chance comes and no I don’t get commission on video sales
