Is Dolph Ziggler Leaving WWE?

Source: WrestlingNewsCo

Flair said that he doesn’t want to let the cat out of the bag but he thinks that WWE wants Ziggler to work in the office. I presume that Flair means that he would be welcome as a producer/agent. Flair said that Ziggler loves Phoenix (where he resides) so he doesn’t know if that will happen. Flair praised Ziggler for being a nice guy and being so good that he can have a job as long as he wants.

Ziggler has done a pretty good job getting his name outside of WWE. Most fans know that he does stand up comedy on his days off and, during the past few weeks, he’s been appearing in segments for “Kennedy” on the Fox Business Network.

Ziggler will face The Miz on Sunday, October 9 at WWE No Mercy. The pay-per-view will emanate from Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center and will air live on the WWE Network.

Rumors That Dolph Ziggler May Leave WWE

There have been rumors that Dolph Ziggler has been unhappy in WWE for awhile and that he may leave when his contract is up in a few months.

On a recent episode of MLW Radio, former WWE creative writer Court Bauer commented on the rumor that Ziggler may leave WWE like John Morrison did. Morrison now works for Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo. Bauer said: “Dolph’s deal is up in a few months and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like Mundo.”

Brad Maddox in the ring, he talked about allowing John Cena to pick his own opponent for Summer Slam. Maddox brought out Cena to the ring for a contract signing. Maddox asked Cena why he chose Daniel Bryan . Cena said he listened to the WWE Universe & the chose was clear in his mind. Maddox said some people say you only chose Bryan because your certain that you will defeat him & he went on about Cena being bigger & stronger & said Bryan more resembles a troll than a WWE champion. Maddox said some people say Bryan is severely unstable & has relationship issues. Cena said are you sure of all of these accusations. Daniel Bryan came to the ring. Fans chanted Yes! Bryan said to Maddox it seems that you think I don’t deserve a shot at the WWE Title but these people disagree with you. Maddox asked Bryan if he thinks he has earned or deserves a shot at the championship at Summer Slam & asked why does he think Cena chose him. Cena interrupted & said you want to know why be man enough & asked John Cena. Cena said Daniel I chose you for this match because this gentleman & the dumb*sses he works for a lot of times are afraid to see God given talent & ability even when it’s beard is staring them right in the face. Cena said to Maddox you wont to run this man down for being half my size & for not being as strong as me. Cena said if size is everything that makes a WWE Champion then here(Cena tossed the WWE Title to Maddox) run to the back & give that to the Great Khali. Cena said he has got names like Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio & the late Eddie Guerrero that prove ability & passion make a WWE Champion not just size & strength. Cena said he chose Bryan because he earned it & deserves it. Cena said being WWE Champion means facing the best competition & sometimes it comes from an unlikely source. Cena said he picked Bryan to compete in the match & just because Bryan was given this opportunity doesn’t mean he is going to hand him the Title. Cena signed the contract & said Bryan is the best competition & he is going to prove at Summer Slam even the best isn’t good enough. Bryan signed the contract & started to talk but Maddox interrupted & announced the match. Bryan yelled at Maddox No! & said you don’t get to interrupt me because I have waited my entire career for this opportunity & I proven that I deserve this. Maddox said not everybody thinks you deserve it. Maddox said he is going to give Bryan an opportunity to prove he deserves it by having a match tonight, he meant matches. Maddox said do I think you are going to prove yourself worthy tonight & yelled No! No! No! The Fans chanted Yes! Yes! Yes!

Backstage Josh Mathews said to Ryback that people feel you enjoy intimidating others. Ryback said I do, like you, you little twirp your about average size, to me you represent everybody in the WWE Universe. Ryback said I hate average, in the law of the jungle the bigger & stronger always eat the weaker & smaller. Ryback said the big guy needs to eat & said people like you deserve to be intimidated by me. Ryback said if you’re not I will prove to you why you should be.

Mark Henry came to the ring. Henry said he is proud to be from Texas & he is proud of the effort he put into his WWE Championship match with John Cena. Henry said he is not proud of what happened to him last week with the assault by The Shield. Henry said his heart doesn’t pump Kool-Aid, he was raised from tough stuff & any man who took the whipping like he took is willing to give one out. Henry said if The Shield wants him he is right here. The Shield came down to the ring & attacked Henry. The Uso’s came out & helped Henry. The Shield retreated.

Daniel Bryan in the locker room getting ready, Cena came in & Bryan said are you here to wish me luck. Cena said tonight isn’t about luck at all. Cena said he has a hunch Maddox isn’t making his own choices. Bryan said don’t worry about him tonight he will be fine own his own. Cena said I just want you to make it to Summer Slam in one piece. Bryan said he doesn’t care who his opponents are or how many & if Cena was in his position he would say the same thing. Bryan said Maddox is right this is an opportunity for him to prove he belongs here. Bryan said he is going to fight & is going to win. Bryan said please don’t deprive me of this opportunity because if you come out there in any of my matches you prove all the things you said was just a load of crap.

Maddox backstage, Triple H came up & said to Maddox you don’t think Daniel Bryan is championship material. Triple H said it almost sounds like someone put words in your mouth. Triple H said I don’t care what the old man thinks, what I think is Daniel Bryan could be the future of the WWE. Triple H asked Maddox if he knows why he didn’t come out there & override all of his decisions. Maddox said because you like them. Triple H said no, it’s because it doesn’t matter what you throw at Bryan he is so driven he will overcome anything. Triple H said there is 2 trains leaving the station & for Maddox to chose wisely which one to get on because one train is the future & the other train is a dead end & Triple H walked off. Stephanie McMahon came in & said she feels for Maddox, her dad & husband rock hard place she has been there. Stephanie said she has an idea that might work but she hasn’t thought it through yet but she will talk to him as soon as she does. Stephanie told Maddox to make sure he gets on board. Maddox said he is on board.

Fandango vs Cody Rhodes: Damien Sandow did commentary during the match. Sandow tried to interfere  in the match but it backfired & Rhodes got the win.

CM Punk came to the ring & said last week he got his *ss handed to him by Brock Lesnar. Punk said Lesnar hit him with his best shot over & over until he was in a broken heap at ringside but he got back up. Punk talked about his injuries & said maybe he shouldn’t even be here, he feels like he was in a car accident but he is still standing. Punk said Lesnar can beat him down but can’t keep him down. Punk talked about all of Lesnar’s accomplishments. Punk said Lesnar’s biggest strength isn’t how massive of an athlete he is, his speed, his power, his technique or his fighting skills, Lesnar’s biggest weapon has always & always will be about one thing, fear. Punk said I’m not afraid of Brock Lesnar, I’m not afraid of Paul Heyman’s monster. Punk said Heyman had one decision to make & he made the wrong one & Punk said he is going to make sure he lives to regret it every single day of his miserable life. Punk said he isn’t going to stop until Lesnar lays in the same broken heap that he left him in last week. Punk said it doesn’t matter what Lesnar or Heyman thinks this is his ring & he owns it & he has proved it against people like John Cena, The Rock, The Undertaker & he would have proven it to Lesnar last week if it wasn’t for Heyman stabbing him in the back for the second time. Punk said there wont be a third time & he will get his hands on Heyman & make him pay. Punk said he isn’t going to pretend Lesnar isn’t the monster that everybody says he is. Punk said monsters where put on this earth & in his path to be slaughtered. Punk said he wants Lesnar at Summer Slam he wants the best vs the beast. Paul Heyman appeared on the big screen live via satellite, Heyman said the best vs the beast he likes it, it’s cleaver marketing. Punk said if Heyman is in the back he is going to find him & pull him out to the ring & give him exactly what he deserves. Heyman insulted the people of Texas put down the State of Texas. Heyman talked about Punk playing a hero for the people. Heyman said Lesnar has a theory about hero’s, show me a hero & I will show you a coward that ran out of options or a fool who is just to stupid to stay down. Heyman asked Punk if he is a coward or a fool. Punk said he will give that answer to Heyman & his client at Summer Slam. Heyman said it bothers him. Punk interrupted & said it bothers him that Heyman is via satellite. Punk said he will walk there & kick his *ss right now. Heyman said it bothers him that Punk doesn’t realize that we was the reigning defending WWE Champions for 434 consecutive days based on Punks talent but on his strategy. Heyman said Lesnar is in peak from as a fighter but look at you, your all beat up from the Money In The Bank ladder match & all beat up from the beating you suffered last week at the hands of the beast incarnate himself. Heyman accepted Punks challenge for Summer Slam. Heyman said stop calling it the best vs the beast because the best is the beast & he is my client & my best friend in the world Brock Lesnar.

Wade Barrett vs Rob Van Dam: RVD got the win.

Gauntlet Match: Daniel Bryan vs Jack Swagger: Swagger had Zeb Colter & Antonio Cesaro with him. Before the match insulted Texas & said shame on Daniel Bryan for taking a handout. “We the people.” Bryan got the win by submission with the Yes Lock.

Backstage Maddox with Alex Riley, Riley said Bryan survived. Maddox said so far lets see how will he does against the next one.

Daniel Bryan vs Ryback: Bryan got the win by DQ because Ryback powerbombed Bryan through a table. After the match grabbed Bryan to do more but John Cena came out to save Bryan & went after Ryback. Ryback made his way up the ramp & Cena grabbed a mic & said after a half hour fight you want to put this man through a table, how about you try doing the same thing to me. Cena challenged Ryback to a tables match. Ryback said if that’s what you want that’s what you will get.

Maddox backstage, Vince McMahon came in & madox said how about that we already got a main event for next week & I will make it official John Cena vs Ryback in a tables match. McMahon asked what about Daniel Bryan & said you ain’t going to deny him competition you ain’t going to deny him a chance to prove himself are you. McMahon suggested Bryan should wrestle someone bigger & stronger than him, someone to bring out the vicious side of Bryan like maybe a friend a best friend. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman kicked off Monday Night Raw

At SummerSlam, the WWE Universe witnessed one of the most physical contests in history when Triple H battled Brock Lesnar. Twenty-four hours removed from “The Perfect Storm,” Lesnar and his representative, Paul Heyman, kicked off Monday Night Raw. (PHOTOS | WATCH)

Raw General Manager AJ Lee responds to CM Punk’s TOUT
Earlier in the evening, WWE Champion CM Punk Touted that he thought AJ Lee should show him respect and let choose the next No. 1 contender. Raw’s General Manager responded by telling Matt Striker that she was fine with it, so long as she approves the WWE Champion’s choice.

Ryback def. Local Competitors via disqualification

Just as Ryback prepared to put the local competitors out of their misery with a double suplex, Mahal raced into the ring to attack Ryback, ending the contest. Mahal then locked his nemesis in the Camel Clutch in an attempt to prove his dominance over his nemesis. However, his efforts were for naught as Ryback displayed his pure strength and overpowered his attacker, sending him running from the ring.

Sending a message to Mahal, Ryback then lifted both local competitors onto his shoulders and slammed them back to the mat.

Raw General Manager AJ Lee announces that Chris Jericho will face Dolph Ziggler in a SummerSlam rematch

One night after losing to Chris Jericho at SummerSlam, Dolph Ziggler implored WWE’s first-ever Undisputed Champion to give him a rematch. Jericho and Ziggler argued over reasons for the rematch until AJ Lee skipped up to the two Superstars. Raw’s General Manager then announced the two competitors would square off on Raw and if Jericho lost, his WWE contract would be terminated. On that same note, if Ziggler lost, he would lose his Money in the Bank contract for a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity.

Randy Orton def. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio came to Fresno State demanding a rematch against World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. Del Rio believed he was robbed at SummerSlam and wanted another opportunity to fulfill his destiny. As The Mexican Aristocrat demanded The Celtic Warrior, Raw General Manager AJ made her way to the ring and announced Del Rio would face WWE’s Apex Predator Randy Orton.

Seconds before the opening bell, the World Heavyweight Champion made his way to ringside and joined Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler on commentary. Even with his archrival looking on from ringside, Del Rio kept his focus primarily on The Viper. The former WWE Champions traded blows and neither could mount an offensive strong enough to maintain momentum.

Finally, after a series of counters from both Superstars, The Viper managed to take down Del Rio with a powerful DDT. Preparing for the RKO, Ricardo Rodriguez tried to distract WWE’s Apex Predator, but Sheamus sent Del Rio’s personal ring announcer cowering from ringside. With Orton’s back turned, The Mexican Aristocrat pounced and executed a perfect Backstabber. As the official counted the pinfall, Sheamus made sure he saw that Orton’s foot was on the ropes, breaking the pinfall.

Irate, Del Rio screamed at The Great White and the official, only to be caught with a massive and match-ending RKO.

Big Show def. David Otunga

Earlier in the evening, as Matt Striker was asking Raw General Manager AJ Lee about CM Punk’s Tout, David Otunga returned and offered his services to the General Manager. Unfortunately for Otunga, he uttered the word “crazy” during his pitch to AJ. Raw’s General Manager responded by ordering the Harvard Law graduate into a match against an opponent of her choosing later in the evening.

Daniel Bryan & The Miz vs. Kane & Zack Ryder ended in a No Contest

Unprepared to handle Kane’s sheer power and with his tag team partner gone, Bryan hopped the barricade and retreated through the crowd. This triggered Kane’s unbridled anger and he started to tear apart the ringside area. An unfortunate timekeeper also felt The Big Red Monster’s wrath and was unceremoniously tossed over the barricade. Finally, Kane Chokeslammed Ryder before leaving the arena.

Following the contest, Raw General Manager AJ Lee posted the following on Twitter: “@WWEAJLee: Starting next week, I’ve decided to help @wwedanielbryan with his anger issues, by sending him to anger management therapy classes.”

Kaitlyn won a Divas Battle Royal to become No. 1 contender to the Divas Championship

WWE’s lovely Divas vied for the opportunity to challenge Layla for the Divas Championship. With the champion watching from ringside, chaos erupted inside the ring as the No. 1 contendership awaited to be claimed. There was no clear favorite in the contest and the unpredictability of the contest left the WWE Universe in Fresno State on the edge of their seats. Finally, it came down to Kaitlyn and former Divas Champion Eve. Given the experience that Eve has inside the squared circle, the smart bet would have been on her to claim the opportunity for the Divas Title. However, millions around the world, including Eve and Layla, were shocked as Kaitlyn eliminated the former champion to become the No. 1 contender

Dolph Ziggler def. Chris Jericho; Jericho’s WWE contract is terminated

The stakes on Monday Night Raw were highest in the SummerSlam rematch between Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler. Earlier on Raw, General Manager AJ Lee declared that if Jericho lost, his WWEcontract would be terminated. However, if Ziggler lost, he would lose his Money in the Bank contract for a World Heavyweight Title opportunity to Jericho. (PHOTOS | WATCH)

Both competitors showed their aggression and desire to win as soon as the match began. Jericho tried to capture Ziggler with an early pinfall as The Showoff focused his offense on The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla’s injured ribs. The talented Superstars kept each other at bay with momentum shifts, showing the WWE Universe the talent and experience shared between the two.

Although the WWE Universe was in Jericho’s corner, their cheers were nearly drowned out by the constant shrieking of Vickie Guerrero. WWE’s first-ever Undisputed Champion remained unfazed and kept a firm hold on the control of the bout.

The match continued and it appeared that Jericho would soon hold the Money in the Bank contract. Ziggler had other plans and managed to counter Y2J’s patented Lionsault and quickly execute the Zig Zag, picking up the victory and terminating Jericho’s WWE contract.

As The Showoff celebrated, Chris Jericho was not going to go out quietly. He left WWE with a brutal briefcase attack on his opponent and then laid out Ziggler with the Codebreaker. (WATCH: CHRIS JERICHO SAYS GOODBYE)

WWE Champion CM Punk confronts Jerry “The King” Lawler and John Cena

On Raw 1,000, Jerry “The King” Lawler said that CM Punk turned his back on the WWE Universe. Twenty-four hours after retaining the WWE Title in a Triple Threat Match against Big Show and John Cena at SummerSlam, WWE Champion CM Punk demanded an apology from the WWE Hall of Famer. But before Punk could get his apology, John Cena made his way to the ring. (PHOTOS | WATCH EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

The Straight Edge Superstar was clearly unhappy with Cena’s interruption, claiming that since WrestleMania, the champion has taken a “back seat” to Cena, The Rock, Brock Lesnar and Triple H. Punk explained to Cena that he didn’t mind out of respect. The WWE Champion reminded Cena and the WWE Universe how many times he has defeated the Cenation leader. With that in mind, CM Punk named his one condition for accepting the match: Cena must admit that The Second City Saint is the “Best in the World.”

Cena retorted that despite nine months of not being the WWE Champion, the Cenation was still strong because of the one thing CM Punk desired: respect. Cena refused to adhere to Punk’s demand, because in his heart, he is the best.

The 10-time WWE Champion highlighted the stark contrasts between himself and the current champion and how he never demanded anything from anyone. Willing to sacrifice the No. 1 contendership, Cena would not give Punk what he wanted. Cena reminded The Straight Edge Superstar that if he wanted to prove he was the best once and for all, he must face Cena at Night of Champions.

After the Cenation leader left the ring, CM Punk once again turned his attention to Jerry Lawler, calling the WWE Hall of Famer into the ring to once again demand an apology. Lawler apologized, but the WWE Champion was still not satisfied and wanted “The King” to declare him the “Best in the World.”

The Memphis, Tenn., native refused and tried to return to the announce table only for CM Punk to kick him from behind. As Raw came to a close, the WWE Champion, still lacking whatever respect he felt was deserved, silently looked down at Lawler and to the WWE Universe. (WATCH: PUNK EXPLAINS HIS ATTACK)

Post SummerSlam Comments and Recap

The 25th Anniversary edition of Summerslam is now in the books and in my humble opinion it was a solid but unspectacular PPV. Some excellent matches and then there was the FIGHT that took place between HHH and Brock Lesnar. All in all, I believe we got our money’s worth and that’s what we deserve.

Here’s a recap of the matches and the winners. My comments will be in red and italics.

Pre-show:

Antonio Cesaro def. United States Champion Santino Marella

Cesaro was impressive and the humorous spot in the match was when Marella pulled out the 2nd Cobra from the rear of his tights and the announcer saying “That’s what you call a backup plan”.

Chris Jericho def. Dolph Ziggler

My personal favorite match of the night – not the best match of the night, but my favorite. I make no bones about being a huge Jericho fan, and both he and Dolph put it all on the line for us fans. It was good to see Jericho prove Ziggler wrong about not being able to win the big one any more. Right after the PPV ended, Zigglar touted his demand for a rematach. http://www.tout.com/m/yzzs1v

Daniel Bryan def. Kane

I had to step away during this match so I will let WWE.com give this recap: At SummerSlam, two hotheads collided as Daniel Bryan defeated Kane in a thrilling back-and-forth encounter that had both Superstars seeing red.

Intercontinental Champion The Miz def. Rey Mysterio

Great work by both superstars! Nothing more to add than you know The Miz is a great heel, because I can’t stand him!

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus def. Alberto Del Rio

Can’t really believe I’m typing this, but Sheamus stole this one from Del Rio. Rodriquez attempted to throw a shoe to Del Rio but instead, Sheamus caught it and blasted Del Rio with it. Then on the cover, the referee missed Del Rio’s leg on the rope as Sheamus pulled his leg down after the 3 count so the ref wouldn’t see it.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & R-Truth def. The Prime Time Players

I will just take this quote directly from our live blog tonight:  “Truth and Kofi retain! What a cross body from Kofi on Titus from the top turn buckle to the floor just before the pin by Truth”. Here is  the link to the archive of the DTRT Wrestling News Live Blog of SummerSlam – http://blyve.com/event/f02d3150647a406ebc000000

WWE Champion CM Punk def. John Cena, Big Show

Show pretty much dominated until both Punk and Cena applied submission holds AT THE SAME TIME on the giant. Show tapped out, but referee didn’t know what to do. Hit Raw GM AJ Lee’s music. She skips to the ring in her business suit, and after Punk gave us a plug (well not really, but he told AJ to Do The Right Thing), she said RESTART THE MATCH, and that included Big Show who had tapped out. Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show, but Punk quickly threw Cena out of ring and pinned Show to retain the title. Not sure Punk is going to gain that RESPECT he wanted from Cena when Cena did the work and Punk got the pin. That’s a Triple Threat Match for you though.

It should also be noted that earlier in the match Cena was about to do U Can’t C Me on Big Show when Punk broke it up and then mocked Cena by waving his own hand in front of his face while laughing at Cena.

I have no inside information, but I’m thinking Punk vs Cena tomorrow night for the main event on Raw. We’ll see if I’m right.

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar

Ok, this wasn’t a match, it was a fight. That’s what Lesnar said it would be and that is what it was. The Game held his own and when he hit his second Pedigree on Lesnar it looked like The Cerebral Assassin might pull of the stunning upset. However, Lesnar had worked over HHH’s left arm all night and when he once again locked in the submission hold that had broken both The Game’s and HBK’s arms – HHH tapped out.

Some random observations on the match: the crowd was mostly quiet during the match, which I believe was because they were in awe of how brutal this match was; for those who think this is all fake – I would ask how did Lesnar get those big whelps under each eye; The Game seemed to be apologizing and tearing up after refusing medical attention on his left arm; Michael Cole asks if this is the end of Triple H. I was a little disappointed in the crowd chanting “You tapped out” as Hunter stayed alone in the ring at the end of the PPV.

There you have it folks. As I said earlier, a solid PPV. I wish they would have used Raw GM AJ Lee a little better tonight. Her one line of restart the match was uneventful and her talent is much better than being under used that way, and besides with Big Show tapping out, why didn’t they have Cena and Punk finish one on one? I didn’t care for the end of the Sheamus vs Del Rio match either. It just didn’t feel right to me. Other than that, put another great big thank you down to the WWE for providing a great evening of Sports Entertainment!

And BTW I just now saw a tout rebuttal from Jericho to “Zoggler” http://www.tout.com/m/f311y5

“Backstage Fallout” Raw – July 30, 2012

Ed’s thoughts on the backstage fallout:

I must admit (and I’m not saying this just for my partner Trevor’s benefit), but I have to agree  with the Crazy Chick, that The Age of AJ is off to a fantastic start. While newly turned heel CM Punk wouldn’t agree (he screams “Are you crazy” at AJ as the show ends), it’s my opinion that AJ did a much better job as GM than Punk did as a heel.

Being a huge Jericho fan, I am excited that he is fueding with Dolph Ziggler and that it appears he will be a face again for a while. I love hearing the crowd pop for The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla when he comes out to Break the Walls Down! I  also thought that Jericho and Christian worked great together.

While it is funny and good entertainment, how long can Kofi put up with “Little Jimmy” getting in the way of the progress for the tag champions (notice Kofi shaking his head at the end of that part). And I’ve got 2 “what’s up with……” issues with AW. 1) What’s up with AW being a sissy and throwing a shoe at Kofi, and 2)What’s up with AW having a live mic during the entire match. Someone needs to find his mute button.
