Cody Rhodes Confronts Kenny Omega After G1 Special Main Event (Video)

The honeymoon may soon be over for Cody Rhodes and Bullet Club — because he got HEATED backstage with Kenny Omega for involving himself in the G1 Special in USA title match.

The incident occurred backstage in the press area after Rhodes lost to Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, where Omega tried to throw in the towel for him.

Kenny defended his actions and began to yell at Cody over his experience in the ring. Rhodes shouted back, “What do you know about my experience? Just because I came from the f*cking WWE?!?”

He then flipped over the press table and tried to get in Omega’s face before The Young Bucks and Brandi Rhodes intervened, separating the two.

The towel situation plays off of what happened at Dominion last month, when Cody tried to throw in the towel for Omega during his match against Okada.

NJPW‘s sold-out G-1 Climax Special is just a few weeks away … and to get fans hyped for the show, Bullet Club released an awesome promo video reminiscent of the NWO.

The nearly 10-minute “paid advertisement” promotes the Biz Cliz’s involvement in the July 1-2 live events from Long Beach and it’s definitely worth watching.

As we previously reported, both shows will be taped by AXS TV and night one will be broadcast live.

Cody starts things off by announcing he’ll be in action … and following his encounter with Kazuchika Okada after the Dominion pay-per-view last Saturday, he’ll be facing “The Rainmaker” for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on Night 1.

The ad then cuts to Omega and The Young Bucks selling Elite Cold Spray (which actually exists) before they join Cody. The Guerrillas of Destiny and Hangman Page were also promoted.

Stick around for the end of the advertisement to see a surprise celebrity cameo.

Cody Rhodes On Joining Bullet Club, His Late Father and WWE vs Indies

Cody Rhodes recently did a interview with Rolling Stone.

The reasons behind his atypical renaissance are myriad, as were the motivations for walking away from WWE earlier this year. Over the course of a wide-ranging conversation, Rhodes offered self-reflection on his new and uncertain journey, how every night on the road is a path toward acceptance of his late father Dusty Rhodes’ passing and his refusal to indulge passé industry jargon. Oh, and that not-insignificant announcement that he’s the latest member of New Japan/Ring of Honor’s wrecking crew, Bullet Club.

Cody Can’t Use The ‘Rhodes’ Name In TNA While Wife Brandi Can, How TNA May Get Around It

Source: WrestlingINC

As noted, TNA posted a video of Cody Runnels, f.k.a. Cody Rhodes, teasing an appearance for tonight’s Impact Wrestling (most likely a video package since the show was taped).

TNA had also announced earlier this week that Cody’s wife Brandi, f.k.a. Eden in WWE ,had signed with the company and will be wrestling in the Knockouts division. She will be known as Brandi Rhodes, which WWE doesn’t own because she never used that name in WWE. However, as noted, Cody is not able to use the “Rhodes” last name because WWE has it registered. Cody had never used the “Rhodes” name as a wrestler before his WWE run since he started his career with them.

Dave Meltzer had first reported in The Wrestling Observer that Cody and Brandi were scheduled to do a program with Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis in TNA. Meltzer noted in the latest issue of the Observer that while Cody can’t currently use the Rhodes last name, they can bill Cody and Brandi as Cody & Brandi Rhodes for their mixed tag matches, since he will be going by “Cody” on television anyway.
