Chris Jericho Reportedly Out Of Action For 4-6 Weeks

Chris Jericho will reportedly be out of action for 4-6 weeks.

On Thursday, it was revealed that Jericho suffered a legitimate left elbow injury during the fall from the Blood & Guts cage on the May 5 AEW Dynamite show. This is why Jericho wore the brace on his arm during this week’s Dynamite segment with The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle.

In an update, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Jericho suffered a dislocated elbow in the fall off the cage at the end of the Blood & Guts match.

The Pinnacle is set to face The Inner Circle in a Stadium Stampede match at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday, May 30, and this week’s Dynamite indicated that Jericho will be working that match. However, the Observer added that Jericho will be out of action for 4-6 weeks.

There is no word yet on how Jericho will work the Stadium Stampede match with the elbow injury, but we will keep you updated.

Jericho recently discussed the story behind the Blood & Guts cage bump, while addressing criticism and complaints from fans. He also said he wouldn’t change anything with the finish of the match, but wouldn’t do the bump again. You can click here for his in-depth comments on the finish.

Mike Tyson Saves Chris Jericho On AEW Dynamite

“The Baddest Man on the Planet” Mike Tyson and “The Demo God” Chris Jericho have put the past behind them and formed an alliance.

It all went down on latest edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT.

At one point during the show, The Inner Circle came to blows with MJF and his cronies, aka The Pinnacle.

The Pinnacle seemed to have the upper hand, until boxing legend Mike Tyson made the save.

Tyson last appeared on Dynamite back in May of 2020 when he got into a wild altercation with Jericho. Luckily for Jericho, Tyson doesn’t hold a grudge, and the two men shook hands in the ring while they celebrated with the rest of The Inner Circle.

In case you missed it, AEW president Tony Khan announced Tyson’s appearance in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.

“He made a huge impact last year at Double or Nothing, and we’re at a point where we can bring him back in front of our fans. The fans who have come to the shows in Jacksonville have added so much to AEW, and it’s important for me that our fans get to see him live. We’re excited to have Mike back,” Khan said of Tyson’s return to the world of pro-wrestling.

Chris Jericho Vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi At WK14 Gets AEW-Related Stipulation

NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi will get the opportunity to earn an AEW World title shot next weekend when he goes one-on-one with ‘Le Champion’ at Wrestle Kingdom 14.

Chris Jericho shared a video on Saturday morning reacting to recent comments made by Tanahashi in regards to their upcoming match.

“You said if you could beat me, that you will enter the forbidden portal and request a title shot for the AEW championship,” Chris says in the video. “I thought it’s a great idea, so ‘Le Champion’ asked the Chairman of the Board, the owner of AEW, Tony Khan, if it was okay to grant your request. And he said yes! So, if you can beat me in the Tokyo Dome, I will give you a championship match for the AEW title,” Jericho added.

Wrestle Kingdom 14 is a two-day event this year starting on January 4. The show can be viewed on NJPW World or FITE TV. The show will not be broadcast on AXS TV this year, as the relationship between the two companies recently came to an end.

Chris Jericho And Hiromu Takahashi Return To NJPW, Wrestle Kingdom 14 Matches Set

Wrestle Kingdom 14 will feature Chris Jericho and Hiromu Takahashi in matches which were both setup during Saturday night’s NJPW Power Struggle event.

Jericho was the first to make an appearance at Power Struggle when a video played after Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Kazuchika Okada and YOSHI-HASHI.

In the video, a roomful of Tanahashi look-a-likes play air guitar before they’re suddenly all on the ground. Jericho then appears in his Painmaker getup and challenges the “Ace of New Japan” to a match on night two of Wrestle Kingdom 14.

This year’s Wrestle Kingdom will be a two-day event on January 4 and 5.

Jericho – who is the current AEW World Champion – last appeared for NJPW back in June at Dominion when he lost to Kazuchika Okada.

Later in the evening at Power Struggle, Will Ospreay defeated BUSHI in a IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title defense. He then got on the microphone and asked who would challenge him next. As he started to leave the ring, a video began to play that was similar to Hiromu Takahashi’s first “Time Bomb” vignettes. The video ends with Hiromu’s cat dolls lighting a bomb that started a timer on-screen.

Takahashi emerged when the countdown was over and tore off a neck brace before making his way to the ring. He then ran around the ring taking bumps, cut a promo in Japanese and eventually challenged Ospreay to a match on night one of Wrestle Kingdom 14.

Hiromu has been out of action for 16 months after breaking his neck taking a dragon driver from Dragon Lee during the G1 Special in San Francisco back in July.
