Bray Wyatt is being advertised for a big match at WWE Hell in a Cell.
The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento tweeted an announcement on Tuesday saying, “Get ready [WWE] fans … “The Fiend” [Bray Wyatt] challenges [Seth Rollins] or [Braun Strowman] to a #HIACmatch! Get your tickets now, and stay tuned.”
This would seem to imply Wyatt will face the winner of Rollins vs. Strowman at Clash of Champions, though it’s possible WWE goes the other direction.
“The Fiend” made his debut at SummerSlam and quickly became the talk of the wrestling world. He was last used on WWE TV during an attack on Jerry Lawler.
As noted, WWE deleted the original video of Bray Wyatt’s entrance for “The Fiend” at SummerSlam and re-uploaded it after taking out the visuals of the head lantern that he brought to the ring.
In an update on the head lantern, it looks like the piece wasn’t totally nixed from The Fiend’s gimmick. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live yesterday that he reached out to multiple sources on the matter and none of them had heard anything about the lantern being dropped. Furthermore, the head lantern is going to be a part of Wyatt’s upcoming Mattel action figure for The Fiend. It was also said that WWE is producing more of the lanterns, apparently for other merchandise items.
It will be interesting to see if The Fiend is still carrying the Wyatt head lantern the next time he appears on WWE TV. Wyatt defeated Finn Balor at Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, but he did not appear on last night’s RAW.
For those who missed it, below is a screenshot of the lantern from Sunday’s match:
WWE seemingly confirmed that the head lantern is here to stay, at least for now. WWE tweeted the photo below on Wednesday of Wyatt with the lantern intact, as seen below.
WWE re-posted Bray Wyatt’s SummerSlam entrance as The Fiend and edited out a part where he used a Wyatt head as the lantern holder. The original video featured an up-close shot of the head.
Wyatt debuted “The Fiend” at SummerSlam on Sunday night and defeated Finn Balor. This was one of the most-talked about happenings coming out of the pay-per-view, and received a “that was awesome!” chant from fans in the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Social media indicates mostly positive feedback to the entire presentation, from entrance to post-match exit.
WWE previously released Wyatt’s TitanTron entrance video on YouTube but deleted it after it was online for about an hour on Monday. They have not re-posted the video as of this writing.
“The Fiend” is also drawing big for WWE’s YouTube channel. As of this writing, the re-posted video of Wyatt’s SummerSlam entrance has 2.356 million viewers while a clip from the Wyatt vs. Balor match has 915,332 views.
To compare, a clip from Randy Orton vs. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has 637,000 views while footage from Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins has 3.2 million views, Charlotte Flair vs. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has 337,000 views, and Dolph Ziggler vs. WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg has 1.7 million views.
Hardcore punk band Code Orange scored the new theme song for Wyatt. This “Let Me In” song was their remix/cover of Mark Crozer’s “Live In Fear” single. The band wrote on Twitter, “LET. HIM. IN. @WWEBrayWyatt proud to set the tone for THE FIEND from here on out. #HURT #HEAL”
Wyatt then gave the band props on Twitter, writing, “Big props to @codeorangetoth For successfully creating a soundtrack to the technicolor pit that is my mind. Damn it feels good to be a Gangsta #YowieWowie”
Code Orange previously played Aleister Black’s “Root of All Evil” entrance at the WWE NXT“Takeover: Brooklyn III” event in 2017, before Black’s win over Hideo Itami. Their “Bleeding In the Blur” single was used as the Takeover theme song that night, and the event opened with a live performance by the band.
Bray Wyatt has finally returned to RAW after months of WWE airing his “Firefly Funhouse” segments on WWE TV.
Wyatt made his return to RAW on tonight’s show from Long Island following Samoa Joe’s win over Finn Balor. After the match, Joe attacked Balor but Balor fought him off and stood tall. That’s when the lights went out and music started playing in the arena. Wyatt appeared, wearing “The Fiend” mask that he debuted a few months back, and dropped Balor with Sister Abigail in the middle of the ring.
The segment ended with Wyatt laughing across the arena as RAW went to commercial.
It looks like Wyatt vs. Balor will be one of the matches for the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Wyatt took to Twitter after the show and made two comments. The first said, “Worth the hurt, worth the healing”
Wyatt then wrote, “I’ll forgive you, when it’s done brother. The sickness is gone. We owe them. And Yowie Wowie is it gonna be a spectacle!!!”
Bray Wyatt revealed his dark secret during last night’s “Firefly Fun House” segment on WWE RAW.
The segment featured Mercy The Buzzard, Abby The Witch and Ramblin’ Rabbit, despite the apparent demise of Rabbit on last week’s show.
Wyatt noted that fireflies helping him is what warms his soul, but he still has some darkness in his head. Wyatt added that he knows how to harness that darkness and control it. That’s when he revealed the bizarre new look, which you can see in the video.
On his podcast, Wrestling Reality with Justin LaBar, Wrestling Inc.’s Justin LaBar had a chance to speak with Jason Baker, who directed Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Funhouse videos that began airing earlier this week. Wyatt has only worked a handful of live events going back to last July, but WWE is obviously looking to gear him up for a return through these vignettes.
In regards to the Firefly Fun House segment, Baker ran down his involvement and the creation of the puppets.
“I directed the segments,” Baker said. “I helped create the puppets over at Tom Savini studios. Tom Savini, Pittsburgh legend. I’ve had the fortunate opportunity to be Tom’s right-hand man for about 6 years. He’s the guy who got me introduced with WWE and allowed me to run with it. It’s been a really fun experience ever since.”
Baker said he wanted the presentation of Wyatt to be a monster hiding right out in the open, which he feels is scarier than any over-the-top style of monster.
“To me, personally, growing up before I got into special makeup effects I went to school for psychology,” Baker said. “All the monsters you see in real life, they look normal. If you looked at a picture of Ted Bundy and didn’t know that was Ted Bundy, you would probably think that looks like a nice guy. I mean John Wayne Gacy was a pillar of his community. True monsters hide right out in the open. They look just like you and me. To me, that’s more terrifying than any monster you can see on a film.”
Getting a chance to work with Wyatt, Baker was impressed with how involved and forward-thinking he was with the character, saying Bray’s level of thinking was on par with other big actors he’s worked with.
“Bray’s great, man,” Baker responded. “He’s intense. He’s always thinking. Then he’s thinking past what he’s thinking. What’s that old saying, ‘There’s a razor’s edge between genius and insanity’—that man walks that razor’s edge constantly. Very, very smart. Smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. Great to collaborate with. You think you’re going to throw an idea at him, he comes back with eight. You think you’re going to hit him up with a piece of trivia knowledge, he sees your trivia knowledge and raises you. He’s a unique, unique human being. Been an absolute pleasure and honor to collaborate with this gentlemen.
“Someone who puts such a thought process into his craft. I’ve had the opportunity to work on films with Russell Crowe, and Tom Cruise and Will Smith and bunch of others working here in Pittsburgh film industry. His mindset for his character development is on par with those guys. It’s a sight to see and something to behold. I was thoroughly impressed with how much dedication he brings to his art and craft.”
Baker also confirms the names of the puppets in the videos, talks props we’ve seen on WWE TV he helped make and more on Wrestling Reality with Justin LaBar. Download the podcast anywhere you can or listen at WrestlingReality.libsyn.com.
It was finally revealed on tonight’s RAW that is Bray Wyatt behind the bizarre vignettes that WWE was airing the past few week. An altogether different Bray Wyatt appeared in a new vignette and introduced his special friends Mercy The Buzzard and Penny The Witch at the “Firefly Fun House.”
Bray’s “Firefly Fun House” had a Pee Wee’s Playhouse feel to it.
Bray mentioned how he used to be a very bad man but he has been “barbarically punished for his wrongdoings” and the old part of him is dead now. He used a chainsaw to destroy a cardboard cutout of the original Bray Wyatt during the segment.
We’ve noted how WWE last week aired a bizarre vignette for some sort of laughing buzzard, that is believed to be a teaser for Bray Wyatt’s return with a new gimmick. As seen below, a new vignette began airing this week.
WWE asked, “What spine-chilling entity is coming to WWE?”
It looks like WWE may have some really drastic character changes planned for Bray Wyatt.
As seen above, WWE began airing new vignettes on this week’s post-WrestleMania 35 RAW for a new character. It looks like they used some sort of laughing buzzard character in the promo.
WWE’s description on the YouTube video says, “What is this unusual creature, and why is it laughing?”
Speculation is that this new promo is for the return of Wyatt, but that has not been confirmed.
It was reported over WrestleMania 35 weekend that WWE was scheduled to start airing vignettes soon for Wyatt’s upcoming return. It was also noted that there will be big changes to Wyatt’s character when he does return, changes that have been in the works for a while.
Bray Wyatt and JoJo have confirmed they’re having a baby!
The couple took to their respective Instagram accounts to share the news, with Bray posting an image of his hands on top of his girlfriend’s belly, and JoJo sharing a photo of herself lying on a beach.
“I’m so excited to announce baby Knash, coming this June! This has been the most beautiful, incredible experience of my life so far. I am so happy that I was able to use this time to enjoy this privately but now I’m ready to share it with you all. I could not be happier!!! This truly has been the biggest blessing. And words can not explain how ready and excited we are to meet you my little man! I love you more than you’ll ever know,” JoJo captioned the image.
As you’ve probably noticed, Bray and JoJo have each been off WWE TV for a significant amount of time. The announcement from JoJo concludes by addressing this. She wrote, “Oh and WWE universe WE will be back when the time is right.”
