Matt and Nick are asked about their credientials, Nick superkicks the guys and papers fly.

Crowd didn’t really know how to react to that, got some boos and what sounded like a “Who are you?” chant.

MJF says everyone is looking at the face of the company, a horse can’t be the face of AEW. MJF says when it comes to horses, once they get hurt sometimes you have to shoot them.

MJF tells Page says he should relinquish his title shot to a real man. MJF mocks Bret Hart’s catchphrase. Page takes a swing at him and he ducks out of the way, “Easy there, seabiscuit!” Jungle Boy heads out from the back to get in MJF’s face. He tells off Jungle Boy and goes to head to the back, out comes Jimmy Havoc who back MJF up to Page. All three guys surround MJF, he tries to throw a punch and gets clocked. Below is the announcement on the signing along with a photo of Malenko, AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes and AEW President Tony Khan.

Globally Renowned Producer & Coach Dean Malenko Joins AEW— AEW Signs Malenko to Multi-Year Deal as Senior Producer / Coach —

Las Vegas, NV (May 24, 2019) – AEW today announced a multi-year deal with world-renowned coach, producer and wrestler Dean Malenko. Effective immediately, the former No. 1-ranked wrestler in the PWI (Pro Wrestling Illustrated) 500 will take on the role as Senior Producer / Coach.

Malenko, who spent the past 18 years producing and coaching some of the biggest starts in wrestling, a second-generation wrestler trained by his father, the acclaimed Boris Malenko. Malenko’s impact will be immediate as he joins AEW this weekend at DOUBLE OR NOTHING, the highly-anticipated event on Saturday, May 25, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“Dean Malenko has been a massive force behind some of today’s biggest wrestling stars,” said Cody Rhodes, EVP of AEW. “He’s never stopped being a major talent who was part of the ECW revolution as well as a fixture in the cruiserweight movement on Nitro. He’s kept an open mind to our world from Lucha Libre to Japanese pro-wrestling. He’s the perfect fit for our sports- centric mentality, and his experience will be invaluable for our team. Welcome Coach!”

“It’s not often you get an opportunity late in your career to be a part of building something from the ground floor,” said Dean Malenko. “The freedom to be able to contribute uninhibited will only lend itself to foster creativity and produce an outstanding product. I’m excited about what the future holds for AEW, and I can’t wait to be a part of the journey.”

Adam Page Not Wrestling At AEW Double Or Nothing? (Being The Elite Recap)

In the video above, Page informed the fans he would not be “allowed” to wrestle on this Saturday’s PPV.

“Hey guy, I’m checking in, because apparently it is my responsibility to tell you that due to recent events I will not be allowed to compete at Double or Nothing,” Page said. “I am sure that none of you are as disappointed or pissed off about the situation as I am. But I will still be at Starrcast on Friday, doing a meet & greet. And I’m sure that the entire show in itself will be great.”

A saddened Page then goes to flip off the camera as it cuts away.

Below are the rest of the highlights from the latest Being the Elite:

* Young Bucks are talking outside and David Arquette comes up to them. Nick is playing with a deck of cards and Arquette asks if he could have one, Nick says no and they’re all booked up. Arquette asks if they know who he is and The Young Bucks don’t recognize him at first, but then Matt realizes he was a former WCW Champion. Nick says they are still booked though, but he could come to the party: a superkick party. They double superkick Arquette who then tells the duo, “That was awesome, guys!” Johnny Impact is in the background and asks if Arquette wants some ice.

* MJF taunts Cody and Brandi’s dog, Pharaoh, and tries to give him some chocolate. Brandi catches MJF and wonders what he’s doing. MJF says he was just going to have a brownie, she tells him to eat it then, and he initially puts up a fight. He eats some and then spits it up, “I don’t like gluten.”

* Joey Ryan talks with Peter Avalon who doesn’t get why there are two Librarians. He’s worried they aren’t going to gel as a team, unlike Ryan and that blonde girl. Avalon says AEW just wants to send him home and pay him, but he doesn’t know what do to. Ryan says not to ask him, he doesn’t work in AEW.

* Brandon Cutler tells MJF the Bucks sent him so MJF could pick a card for the Casino Battle Royale. MJF taunts Cutler, makes fun of his wife’s designs for wrestling gear, and his kids. MJF goes to leave and Cutler stops him so he can just pick a card. MJF says he has an issue with Cutler thinking his mentors (Young Bucks) are better than his (Cody). An angered Cutler shoves MJF up against the wall, yells at him, and tells him to pick a card, MJF does so.

* BTE Mailbag: Frankie Kazarian is asked if he and Christopher Daniels are the voices for Arthur and Trevor. He says they get asked this a lot especially because they once had other alter-egos, Curry Man and Suicide. But says Arthur and Trevor are just jerks who have terrorized the roster. Kazarian says it kind of hurts that people think he and Daniel would do voices for those disgusting human beings. Matt Jackson is asked if Being the Elite will be around when AEW is on weekly television. He says that’s a tough question, he and Nick have talked about if it will be possible once things really get rolling with the company. Matt says he just doesn’t know right now.

* Kazarian and Daniels approach Pentagon Jr. and Fenix to say they will be watching their match against The Young Bucks. Daniels says maybe them and the Lucha Brothers can do it again one more time in AEW down the road. Both Pentagon and Fenix say “of course,” and the teams shake hands. They walk away, Pentagon asks Fenix who those guys were.

* Text to Matt Jackson asking if he’s going to really do his new move. Matt writes back, “Si.” We see clips of The Young Bucks vs. Pentagon Jr. / Fenix at PWG Battle of Los Angeles where things started between the two teams. Clips are shown of Matt and Nick getting attacked by the Lucha Brothers at an AEW Press Conference, the teams fighting at an AAW event, and The Young Bucks defeating them for the AAA World Tag Team Titles in Mexico. The match is being billed as “Who’s the best tag team in the world?”

Cody Rhodes Trademark Refused Due To Similar WWE Trademark, Update On Other Trademark Applications

It was reported earlier this year that Cody Rhodes has filed to trademark the “Bash at the Beach” name. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has given an initial refusal to the application because of the likely confusion with WWE’s registered trademark for “The Bash” for an old pay-per-view.

Cody’s trademark application for “Dusty Rhodes” was also given an initial refusal by the USPTO because of the likely confusion to the “Dustin Rhodes” trademark that’s registered to his brother, Dustin Runnels.

The USPTO did approve Cody’s other trademark applications for Bunkhouse Stampede, BattleBowl, The American Nightmare, The American Dream, and The Prince of Wrestling. They will be published for opposition at a later date.

Former WWE Star Tye Dillinger Announced For AEW Casino Battle Royale

AEW announced Shawn Spears, formerly known as WWE’s Tye Dillinger, will be involved in the Casino Battle Royale on Double or Nothing’s The Buy In pre-show.

Back in February, Spears was released from WWE after he asked for his release from the company, despite being offered a substantial raise. Spears was on his second run with the company where he spent 2013-2017 in NXT, followed up by a lackluster main roster run on SmackDown.

In the video below, Spears was dealt his card (a ten) for the upcoming match and responded, “When the odds are stacked, always bet on you.”

Double or Nothing will air on B/R Live and traditional PPV for $49.99 at 8 pm ET this Saturday. The Buy In pre-show will stream for free on All Elite Wrestling’s YouTube channel.

The Roast Of Ric Flair To Take Place At A Later Date

Starrcast has announced that the roast of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair will take place at a later date to be announced.

As noted, The Nature Boy was forced to pull out of “The Roast of Ric Flair” scheduled for Friday night in Las Vegas during Starrcast II weekend, which coincided with AEW’s Double Or Nothing weekend. Flair underwent heart surgery on Monday and his doctors won’t allow him to travel to Vegas for the weekend events. Starrcast issued the following today:

“The good news is that Ric Flair’s surgery was a success. The bad news is that his doctor won’t allow him to travel this weekend. As a result, his Meet & Greets at #Starrcast are being refunded. The Roast of Ric Flair will have to be postponed to a later date yet to be determined.”

The roast of Flair was scheduled to air on pay-per-view and Fite.TV this Friday night. There’s no word yet on if it will still stream when it happens. Flair was also scheduled for a “30 Years and 5 Stars Later” panel with WWE Hall of Famers Ricky Steamboat and Jim Ross this week. Starrcast will be issuing refunds for all of Flair’s planned events.

Flair’s wife Wendy Barlow noted on Monday that the operation was a success and that Flair was in the recovery room. TMZ reported that doctors were optimistic Flair will make a full recovery. Flair was said to be in good spirits over the past few days, chatting with some of his famous friends on the phone, including rapper Offset.

Flair is scheduled to make his first post-surgery public appearance on Friday, May 31 for SCWPro at their “To Be The Man” event in East Moline, Illinois. SCWPro confirmed today that they have been in contact with Flair’s representatives, and that he will still make that appearance.
