The six-sided ring is no more at Impact Wrestling (at least for now) … as the company revealed today that they’ll once again be using a traditional four-sided ring.

Impact tweeted a picture of the new ring with a caption saying “see it here first,” even though wrestler Taiji Ishimori posted one hours before showing something they left out — a giant Twitch logo on the ring skirt, seen in the photo above.

No word on whether the two companies have struck a deal.

For those unaware, the set of tapings that begin tonight are the first since Don Callis and Scott D’Amore were named as Executive Vice Presidents of Impact Wrestling.

Chris Jericho On His NJPW Future And Why His Bout With Kenny Omega Was Bigger Than Any WWE Match

Chris Jericho joined Dave Lagreca and Bully Ray on Busted Open in his first interview since his “Alpha vs. Omega” match with Kenny Omega at the Tokyo Dome at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 12. Jericho discussed his future with NJPW now that his match against Omega is finished and having the biggest match in pro wrestling. Here are some of the highlights:

Having the biggest match in wrestling:

“When WWE did [Braun] Strowman vs. Brock [Lesnar] and [John] Cena vs. Roman [Reigns] on kind of a secondary PPV a few months ago, I was like ‘Well, there you go, that’s an amazing bonus for me’ because now – to me, those were the two biggest matches you can have in the wrestling world. Once that happened, it left it right open for ‘Alpha vs. Omega,’ there was no match hotter in the business that you could have.”

His future with NJPW:

“I need to keep the ball rolling, I don’t know, once again, the Naito thing is pretty interesting thing to me, and don’t over-saturate [myself]. Don’t join the G1 Climax and be just another guy. I really want to do the Brock Lesnar deal with NJPW, if it works out. Pick my spots and come and go to where you’re like, ‘This guy’s barely there, yet, when he’s there it makes an impact.’ And that might have to be the incentive, I just have to reevaluate and see what I want to do next wrestling wise.”

Triple H On If WWE Will Make An Exception For Daniel Bryan’s Ring Return

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon took questions at the Television Critics Association Winter Tour event in California on Tuesday.

The Wrap asked Triple H if there’s some sort of exception in WWE’s strict policy that might allow SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan to return to the ring. Triple H said:

“There can be no exception medically,” Triple H said. “If the belief is that he’s not healthy enough and there’s a risk [for him] to perform, then I don’t know why you’d allow him to step into the ring unless it can be proven otherwise. There will be no exceptions. We have some of the best medical people in the world that work for us. Our wellness policy, our concussion programming, our protocols — I’ll put them up there against any on the planet.

“That is a new science in a way, too. So we’re gonna look at it from all aspects, but the medical experts will make the determination as to whether he can ever step into that ring or not. Look, personally for him, I know it would be something he would love to do, and part of me feels like I hope he has that opportunity. But at the same point in time, he’s married and has a child. Certainly, [we put] the human being first.”

Bryan has not wrestled since April of 2015. He announced his retirement in February of 2016, but has since said that he plans to wrestle again this year unless doctors advice him otherwise. His WWE contract expires in September.
