Sin Cara Gets New Ring Name

This past weekend saw the debut of Jorge Arias, a.k.a. Sin Cara, in AAA in the promotion’s Guerra de Titanes event. Arias was recently granted his release from WWE with three years left on his deal. He is on a 90-day non-compete and is not free to wrestle elsewhere until March.

WWE has not given Arias the right to use the “Sin Cara” name since they own it. Now the former Sin Cara is going by “Cinta de Oro” and he revealed the new ring name on Instagram, which translates to “Gold Ribbon”.

Luchablog noted that Cinta de Oro is the name of the Ciudad Juarez legend who trained Arias, and he has been wearing a gold ribbon on his mask as a way to honor him the last few years.

Arias had filed a trademark on Cinta de Oro in Mexico this past July, but it has not been approved so far. Legal action may be taken however as Luchablog has found a Facebook post from a woman named María Zárate claims to have ownership of Cinta de Oro since 2016.

The people in Arias’ Instagram post are allegedly the sons of Cinta de Oro to show that he has the approval from the family to use the ring name. However, in the same Facebook post from Zárate, a profile of who appears to be Ciudad Juarez legend Ari Romero, or a relative of his, implies that the men in posing with Arias are not Cinta de Oro’s legitimate sons.

Kairi Sane Medical Update Following WWE TLC

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane is currently not cleared to wrestle, according to an update from Pro Wrestling Sheet.

We’ve noted how there was concern over Sane possibly suffering a concussion in the main event of Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view, which saw The Kabuki Warriors retain their titles over Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a TLC match. The latest report notes that Sane was apparently knocked out during the first few minutes of the match. There’s no solid word yet on when she was put out, but that’s why she appeared to be out on her feet at various points in the match. WWE has not confirmed the concussion to Sane or any other injury as of this writing.

There’s no word yet on how long Sane will be out of the ring, but she was evaluated by WWE doctor after TLC and it was decided that she would be pulled from the ring for now.

Sane gave a minor update of her own on Monday, tweeting a thumbs up to indicate she’s doing okay.

WWE RAW Preview 12/16/19

Tonight’s WWE RAW will take place from the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa with fallout from the WWE TLC pay-per-view.

This will be the final live RAW of 2019 and the decade. WWE will also tape another episode of RAW tonight at the arena. The local start time is 5:45pm or 6:45pm ET. Matches advertised locally by the arena are Seth Rollins with AOP vs. Kevin Owens, plus Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles.

Styles vs. Orton is the only match WWE has announced for tonight’s show. WWE once again has not announced a RAW preview for the night except for what they posted below.

Seth Rollins broke bad in a major way on Monday when he allied himself with AOP. In essence, he became the villain the WWE Universe had been treating him as for some time. Whatever his reasons, however, The Architect is once again at the helm of a three-man group, and historically speaking, that makes him a difficult man to stop. We already saw what happened to Kevin Owens when he stood against Rollins & AOP on their first night. With a week under their belts, it’s already time to ask the question we’ll likely be asking for a long time: Can anybody stop them?

Kairi Sane Possibly Suffers Concussion At WWE TLC

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane may have suffered a concussion during Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

The TLC main event saw The Kabuki Warriors retain their titles over Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch in a brutal women’s TLC match, the first-ever for the tag team titles. The match included several big bumps for all four competitors. Sane was laid out on the outside of the ring for the finish of the match as Asuka retrieved the titles from above the ring. Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com reports that Sane was checked out backstage after the show and the belief is that she suffered a concussion.

The report noted how Sane was not moving well after a certain point in the match, and how she didn’t take a normal bump when Flair hit her with the Spear at ringside, which could be a sign that she was already out on her feet by then. There was also a spot where Sane looked like she was struggling to get up for a powerbomb spot. It was speculated that she may have suffered the injury when she was hit in the head as Flair and was throwing the monitors around at ringside.

It was also noted that an official diagnosis will not be available until Monday afternoon at RAW. WWE has not announced any injuries from TLC and Sane has not commented.

The final WWE pay-per-view of the decade goes off the air with a huge group of Superstars and security guards down on the ground after the move from Reigns and Corbin.

NWA Into The Fire Results 12/14/19

Stu Bennett (Bad News Barrett) narrates an opening montage showing off the last nine weeks of NWA Powerrr. Moments include Colt Cabana recapturing the National championship from James Storm, Nick Aldis’ epic title defense against Tim Storm, the debut of the Question Mark, and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Express becoming tag team champions once again.

Eli Drake vs. Ken Anderson –

Eli Drake wins by pinfall

Over to the interview desk with Dave Marquez. He welcomes the NWA World’s champion Nick Aldis . Crowd gives Aldis a huge ovation. He talks about how fans thought that the NWA was finished, a forgotten relic of wrestling’s past. He says that one voice kept the NWA alive, and that one doubled, then tripled, now they’re being watched by over 40 countries in the world. “A PPV headlined by sweet Charlotte…the 10 pounds of gold.” He then addresses James Storm: “You and I are the only two men tonight that have the chance to live forever, but if you’re going to do it, you’re going to have to come with me into the deep water, and I will show you why I’m the real world’s champion.” Marquez asks about Kamille, who Aldis says has the night off.

James Storm meets Aldis and Marquez. Storm says that no one man can be given credit for the NWA’s revival. “We did this as a team. And tonight when the smoke clears, you’re going to now that you’ve been in the ring with one of the toughest SOB’s on God’s green earth.” He promises that later he will be announced as the new NWA world champion. This ends the segment.

Tasha Steelz vs. Thunder Rosa –

Thunder Rosa wins by pinfall

As soon as the match is over Rosa continues her assault on Steelz. Ashley Vox runs out to make the save. She unloads on Rosa but Rosa gets the better of her. Shoulder breaker and arm-ringer. Vox screams holding her arm. Rosa stands tall over Vox before leaving to the back. Referee’s attend to Vox. Commentary wonder if she’ll be able to compete in her tag bout later tonight.

Question Mark vs. Trevor Murdoch –

Question Mark wins by pinfall

NWA World Tag Team Championship: Rock ‘N Roll Express (c) vs. The Wildcards (Thomas Latimer and Royce Issacs)

Rock ‘N’ Roll Express win by pinfall to retain the NWA Tag Team Championship

Commentary announces that on January 24th, the next NWA pay per view will take place. Stu Bennett reveals the NWA television championship, and says that the first champion will be crowned at the PPV.

Over to Dave Marquez. Eli Drake comes out and insults him, then polls the audience on who they think is going to win tonight’s main event. Crowd chants “Aldis.” Drake says he doesn’t care who wins, because at the end of the day he is the man who shines in this company, and he’ll eventually be right where he belongs, as the brands champion. He takes a few shots at Ken Anderson. Anderson comes out of nowhere and blindsides him. He picks up a steel chair and drives it into Drake’s gut. He places the chair around Drake’s neck and guillotines him into the ring post. Referee’s and security try and pull Anderson away but he’s irate. He sends Drake into the ring, sets up the chair, then flatliners him face first. Drake is out. Crowd boos Anderson as he leaves. Officials help Drake to the back as he cannot stand on his own.

Allysin Kay is out next for tag action. She carries her NWA women’s title, but Ashley Vox is not with her. Melina and Marti Belle enter next. Commentary asks if Kay is planning on facing them in a handicap match. Belle, Melina, and Kay argue…Marquez stops them before they tangle up and says that Kay will have a partner. IT’S ODB!! Crowd going wild!

Allysin Kay and ODB vs. Melina and Marti Belle –

Allysin Kay and ODB win by pinfall

NWA National Championship: Colt Cabana (c) vs. Aron Stevens vs. Ricky Starks –

Aron Stevens wins by pinfall to become the new NWA National Champion

Post match, Stevens says he won the title thanks to the power of karate.

Tim Storm in a referee’s shirt speaks with Alex Marquez. Storm begins by thanking the NWA fans, claiming that it is an honor and a privilege to be apart of this PPV. “To watch those two men battle for the most prestigious title in professional wrestling means the world to me, and I’m going to do my best because I know it means the world to them.”

Another video package of James Storm and Nick Aldis, this time focusing on what Adlis’ valet Kamille whispered in Storm’s ear. Although it was never revealed, Storm says that whatever she says gets out…it’s going to bring a whole new light to this industry. Recap of Aldis accidentally striking Kamille during his title match on the debut of NWA Powerrr.

Back to the arena…crowd is chanting NWA loud. Marquez tells us that Brian Hebner will officiate the first fall, and Tim Storm the second fall. If a third fall is needed, a coin-toss will determine who the referee will be.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship – 2 Out of 3 Falls: Nick Aldis (c) vs. James Storm –

James Storm wins the first fall

Nick Aldis wins the second fall

Nick Aldis wins the second fall via referee stoppage and retains the NWA World Championship

Commentary calls the finish very controversial as Tim Storm was not the assigned referee and James Storm never officially quit. Afterwards Aldis goes to Marquez. He says normally he would gloat, but instead he chooses to celebrate the greatness of the NWA. “This is where guys like me and James Storm find purpose in this crazy world.” Aldis then looks directly into the camera and says, “there’s not a man alive who can take this from me.” The lights go out.

MARTY SCURLL IS HERE. Fans can’t believe it. “Holy sh*t” chants. He comes to the ring and stares Aldis down. Aldis looks terrified. Scurll goes to the interview desk.

MLW Fusion Preview 12/14/19 – Opera Cup Opening Round Begins

For the first time in 71 years, the Opera Cup tournament returns. The opening round kicks off as the classic tournament gets underway featuring two bouts on FUSION.

Decorated grappler TJP returns to MLW as he battles the fast and furious Brian Pillman Jr.

With many sensing Pillman’s ascension in the league imminent, the Rogue Prince’s participation in the Opera Cup will be a critical stage in his progress.  The flashy TJP backs up his swagger in the squared circle using a hybrid wrestling style relying on lucha, strong style and technical wrestling to overwhelm adversaries.

Will Pillman’s tenacious albeit unorthodox approach prevail? Will the versatile veteran TJP advance in the Opera Cup?

In the other opening round Opera Cup bout, pound-for-pound one of the most gifted grapplers in the world, Timothy Thatcher looks to out-wrestle all and claim the prestigious Opera Cup and win the first tournament since 1948. Standing in his way: the cosmopolitan elitist Richard Holliday.

Rarely does Thatcher face a man that can match him in power and size like Richard Holliday can.  A dynamic athlete, Holliday is an emerging world class caliber wrestler having won the World Tag Team Titles earlier this year.

With self-proclaimed “dynastic qualities,” Holliday sees the Opera Cup as an opportunity to fast-track a singles career and make a statement by dominating.  Will Thatcher’s quest for the cup be denied by the smug elitist?

Back in Kauai, Ross and Marshall Von Erich seek out advice from their father Kevin after the shocking betrayal by “Traitor” Tom Lawlor.

Tis the season for… the GIFT TRAIN? The Dynasty are in a giving mood… for themselves. What does Richard Holliday, MJF and Alex Hammerstone get each other?

The courtship of “The Untouchable” Gino Medina continues. Will the next big thing in MLW choose Konnan… or Salina de la Renta?

Also, in action: King Mo will rumble in Queens as MMA royalty steps in the ring in his sophomore outing in Major League Wrestling.

Join Rich Bocchini and AJ Kirsch from the Melrose Ballroom in New York City as the Opera Cup returns!
