Will Ospreay Written Off AEW TV to Heal Up From Lingering Injuries

AEW fans expecting to see more of Will Ospreay after All In will have to wait a little longer — and now we know why.

Ospreay was stretchered out during the All In main event in what initially seemed like a brutal storyline beat. But according to a new report from Fightful Select, the exit wasn’t just for show. The English star is reportedly dealing with minor injuries that have been piling up in recent weeks, and AEW officials decided it was time for him to take some real time off to recover. While there’s no exact timeline for his return, sources told Fightful that Ospreay is expected to miss more than a month of action.

Fans may recall that Ospreay recently suffered a broken nose during a match with Swerve Strickland — an injury he bounced back from quickly. However, it appears that other nagging issues have caught up with him.

At All In, Ospreay and Strickland joined forces to defeat The Young Bucks, former AEW World Tag Team Champions. But the night didn’t end there for Ospreay. In the show’s chaotic main event between Jon Moxley and Hangman Adam Page, Ospreay inserted himself to fend off Moxley’s Death Riders faction. His involvement led to him being attacked — first by Gabe Kidd, and then by Claudio Castagnoli, who viciously trapped Ospreay’s neck in a chair, setting up the dramatic stretcher spot.

Ospreay wasn’t the only surprise backup for Page. The match saw shocking returns from Bryan Danielson — who arrived in disguise to lay out Kidd, Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta — and Darby Allin, who delivered a Coffin Drop onto the trio.

For now, AEW will be without one of its top international stars as Ospreay takes time to rest and heal. Given his track record, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back sooner rather than later — but it sounds like this time, the break is much needed.

Backstage Report On TNA Teasing Appearance By WWE Star AJ Styles

With TNA Slammiversary just days away, the company is pulling out all the stops to sell out Long Island’s UBS Arena — and it looks like they may be betting big on a blast from their past.

The buzz kicked off Tuesday when TNA President Carlos Silva dropped a not-so-subtle hint, promising fans that the pay-per-view would be “PHENOMENAL.” The choice of words sent the internet rumor machine into overdrive, with many interpreting it as a tease for an appearance by none other than AJ Styles.

Silva didn’t exactly pump the brakes when pressed about the tease in an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. In fact, according to Fightful Select, Silva doubled down, continuing to heavily imply that Styles might just show up. While TNA insiders stopped short of confirming anything, one source within the company reportedly believes Styles will appear — suggesting it would be a bad look for the promotion to hype a “phenomenal” surprise and not deliver.

AJ Styles, of course, is a cornerstone of TNA’s legacy. Long before becoming a WWE Grand Slam Champion, Styles made his name in TNA’s X-Division and held the World Heavyweight Title multiple times, becoming one of the faces of the promotion throughout the 2000s and early 2010s. His last TNA match came in December 2013 when he lost a world title unification bout to Nick Aldis. Styles nearly returned in 2015 before ultimately signing with WWE, where he’s been a top-tier star ever since.

As for Styles himself? The former “Face That Runs the Place” has kept quiet on the speculation. He’s currently wrapped up in a storyline with WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, with no public indication that a TNA cameo is in the works.

Will TNA actually deliver AJ Styles at Slammiversary, or is this just a clever marketing swerve? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out. Either way, the buzz has done its job — and all eyes are now on Long Island this Sunday.

Update on Seth Rollins’ WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Injury

Seth Rollins sparked concern over the weekend after his match with LA Knight at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event ended abruptly, with Rollins appearing to suffer a knee injury. The moment felt like a major blow — both to Rollins, who’s been riding high as Raw‘s top heel since WrestleMania 41, and to WWE’s rumored summer plans for him.

However, questions quickly emerged about whether the injury was legit or part of a storyline.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter and John Pollock of POST Wrestling both reported that at least one WWE source claimed the injury angle had been mapped out days before the event, hinting it may have been a planned storyline twist rather than a real injury.

On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revisited the situation and admitted the waters remain murky.

“Everyone is insisting it was legit — that it’s a knee injury,” Meltzer said. “I tried to get it confirmed, and someone I reached out to wouldn’t confirm it. I think it’ll all come out eventually… Everyone’s saying it’s real, but at the same time, nobody is outright denying John Pollock’s report either.”

Co-host Bryan Alvarez chimed in with a possible explanation for the conflicting reports: both sides might be telling the truth.

Alvarez suggested Rollins may have entered the match already dealing with a legitimate knee issue, and the injury spot with LA Knight was scripted to cover for the existing injury — a way for WWE to write Rollins off TV while he gets it taken care of.

“He is hurt, but what happened on Saturday was storyline,” Alvarez said. “That spot didn’t cause the injury — it was a cover for it. He’ll be out a little while, but they’ll probably say nine months or some long stretch for storyline reasons. But in reality, he’ll be back sooner.”

Meltzer agreed that theory fits with what he’s been hearing behind the scenes, especially when factoring in buzz about Rollins’ potential Money in the Bank cash-in down the line.

“That makes the most sense,” Meltzer noted. “I’ve been told the cash-in will happen out of nowhere, so this lines up.”

Whether this is clever storytelling or a genuine setback, Rollins’ status remains one of the biggest questions heading into WWE’s summer season — and fans will no doubt be watching closely for the next twist.

Report: Red Velvet Suffers Neck Injury During CMLL-NJPW Event in Mexico

ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet is reportedly dealing with a neck injury sustained during her recent appearance at the joint AEW-NJPW-CMLL show in Mexico City — a setback that has already shaken up Ring of Honor’s women’s division.

On the June 22 event at Arena Mexico, Velvet squared off against CMLL’s Kira in a non-title match that kicked off the night. Though Velvet picked up the win in under 10 minutes, it appears the victory came at a price. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Velvet suffered the injury during that bout.

While the exact severity of the neck issue hasn’t been confirmed, AEW President Tony Khan recently announced that Velvet would be sidelined and unable to compete at Supercard of Honor. In fact, the situation was serious enough for Khan to introduce an interim Women’s TV Champion — a title now held by Mina Shirakawa, who captured it at Friday’s event. With Shirakawa in place, Velvet’s first match back — whenever that may be — seems all but set.

Velvet’s journey in AEW began back in 2020, where she made headlines stepping in for Brandi Rhodes in the highly publicized mixed tag match featuring Jade Cargill and Shaquille O’Neal. After a rocky rivalry with Cargill — including multiple losses — Velvet eventually joined forces with her as part of The Baddies stable. An injury later sidelined Velvet, and Cargill’s eventual move to WWE left Velvet to carve her own path in ROH, where she became the second-ever Women’s TV Champion last July.

Now, with her in-ring future momentarily on hold, fans will have to wait and see how long Velvet is out — and how this injury reshapes the landscape of the ROH women’s division.

Tony Khan Opens Up on Last-Minute Decision to Pull Adam Cole from AEW All In 2025

AEW All In: Texas featured plenty of big moments, but one of the most emotional came when Adam Cole walked to the ring — not to wrestle, but to announce he wasn’t medically cleared to compete. Even more concerning, Cole hinted through tears that his wrestling career might be hanging in the balance.

Cole’s AEW journey has been a frustrating one, plagued by a string of injuries and setbacks. Just when it looked like he was about to regain his footing, another issue would knock him off course.

During the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan shed some light on the difficult decision to pull Cole from the card — a move that came together at the last minute.

“Somewhere between late last night and early this morning, we talked, and he wasn’t feeling well,” Khan revealed. “That’s the unpredictable nature of these kinds of injuries. It’s important that Adam Cole takes the time he needs to get right. Right now, there’s no timeline on when he’ll be able to wrestle — or even speak publicly again.”

Khan admitted the change caught him off guard. Up until the night before the show, Cole was still set to defend the TNT Championship against Kyle Fletcher.

“We had everything lined up for the pay-per-view. The plan was Adam Cole versus Kyle Fletcher for the TNT Title,” Khan confirmed.

For Cole’s fans, it’s been a tough stretch — one filled with hope, only to be met with more bad news. At this point, the focus may be shifting from when he’ll return to the ring to simply hoping he regains his health and quality of life beyond wrestling.

After the bell, FTR climbed into the ring, clearly incensed after being caught in the crossfire. Christian tried to backtrack and lead his team out of the ring, but then—shockingly—Nick Wayne turned on his mentor, dropping Christian Cage with the Unprettier to a stunned reaction from the crowd.

FTR looked on in disbelief, then nodded in encouragement. As Nick looked for finality, they slid in steel chairs and set up for a Con-Chair-To—until the arrival of Cope brought the arena to its feet.

“Spike” in hand, the Rated R Superstar stormed the ring, steamrolling Wayne and clearing the field. He then helped Christian to his feet, looked him in the eye, and simply said:

“Go find yourself.”

AEW Women’s World championship: Toni Storm (c) def. Mercedes Moné

AEW Unified Championship: Kazuchika Okada (Continental) def. Kenny Omega (International)

AEW World ChampionshipHangman Page def. Jon Moxley (c)

A bag was passed to Moxley—a plastic bag, like the one used to end Bryan Danielson’s career months earlier. As Mox prepared to suffocate Page, Darby Allin appeared in a video promo—filmed from the summit of Mount Everest—promising revenge. And then…

Bryan Danielson returned.

Dressed in blue, disguised under a mask, Danielson exploded into the ring with a Busaiku Knee and began unloading kicks on every Death Rider in sight. The arena erupted.

Seconds later, Darby Allin rappelled down from the ceiling, descending like a specter of vengeance. He wiped out the remaining Death Riders with a Coffin Drop, while Danielson launched Wheeler over the barricade.

Back in the ring, Hangman dropped Moxley with a Buckshot Lariat, and followed it with a Deadeye off the apron and through a table. As Moxley struggled to rise, Marina Shafir helped him up, flipping off Page. But the fight wasn’t over yet.

The Young Bucks hit the ring with a Superkick Party and an EVP Trigger, aiding Moxley and introducing a bed of nails from under the ring. Moxley drove Page into it with a Blackout, followed by a Paradigm Shift into the nails. Yet somehow, Hangman survived.

As Moxley demanded the locked briefcase containing the AEW World Title, wanting to take out the championship and brandish it as a weapon against Hangman—”I want him to taste it,”—Prince Nana appeared and handcuffed Marina Shafir to the barricade.

And moments later, Swerve Strickland made his choice.

Striding to the ring with Hangman’s own steel chain, Swerve took out the Young Bucks, then walked to the apron and handed the chain to his former bitter rival. Hangman didn’t hesitate.

He wrapped the chain around his fist, leveled Moxley with loaded punches, then looped it around his neck and draped him over the top rope. A Buckshot Lariat into the bed of nails followed. And with one final heave, Page hung Moxley over the top rope again, the chain cinched tight.

Mox struggled with sheer panic all over his face, but he had no recourse. A quick tap-out gave Page the championship once more. He grabbed the briefcase, ripped it open, and brought that big, beautiful belt back into the light, where it belongs. Holding the championship high over his head, Hangman got emotional, while the entire crowd in Arlington celebrated as one.

After the segment, Dark State appeared and laid out the challengers while Williams watched from the ramp.
