Backstage Update On AEW Stars After Brutal Blood & Guts

AEW’s annual Blood & Guts spectacle has come and gone, and as expected, the double-cage war left its mark on everyone involved. With shattered glass, broken mirrors, and enough bloodshed to fill an arena, fans naturally wondered just how banged up the roster was after Wednesday’s chaos in Greensboro.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the overall verdict is a lot more positive than you might expect.

Women’s Blood & Guts: Banged Up, But Battling Through

Jamie Hayter walked out of the cage bruised and beaten, reportedly even chipping some teeth during the match. Still, one AEW source told Fightful she was “as badass as you’d expect,” which shouldn’t surprise anyone who saw the former Women’s Champion throw herself into the violence.

Skye Blue arguably had the roughest night visually—entering first for her team and wearing a 45-minute crimson mask—but despite being the bloodiest competitor on the card, she was said to be completely fine once she got backstage.

Men’s Blood & Guts: No Major Injuries Reported

As of Fightful’s report, AEW hadn’t provided specifics on the condition of the men’s teams, but the early indication is that no serious injuries occurred—a minor miracle considering the carnage that typically comes with Blood & Guts.

Hangman vs. Hobbs Also Escapes Injury Scare

The night’s lone non–Blood & Guts bout—a wild Falls Count Anywhere fight between Hangman Page and Powerhouse Hobbs—also wrapped without any major medical issues. AEW sources described both men as “sore,” but everything reportedly went exactly as planned.

A Thinner Roster Behind the Scenes

Interestingly, AEW had fewer roster members on hand than usual. With only three matches booked and AEW Collision set to air live this Saturday, the company traveled with a smaller crew—making the overall lack of injuries even more fortunate.

For a show built on violence and risk, AEW’s latest Blood & Guts may go down as one of the safer entries in the history of the match—at least in terms of long-term damage. The visuals were brutal, but behind the curtain, it sounds like the roster made it through the war in surprisingly good shape.

Ric Flair Misses Planned AEW Dynamite Segment Due to Injury, Backstage Scramble Ensues

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was expected to resurface on AEW Dynamite this week alongside longtime rival Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat—at least, that was the plan on paper. Instead, only Steamboat made it onto the broadcast, leaving many fans wondering why Flair, who was advertised for the segment, never hit the stage.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Flair was in the building but unable to appear due to a recently suffered torn rotator cuff. Dave Meltzer reported that Flair’s injury came from a fall, though details are still unclear. Despite showing up to the arena, Flair was said to be in significant pain throughout the day.

Meltzer noted that Flair even removed his arm from its sling while speaking to fans before the show began—apparently not wanting anyone to notice he was hurt. After addressing the crowd, Flair quietly left the venue before Dynamite went live.

While Meltzer wasn’t 100% certain Flair was originally scripted to participate in the Steamboat/FTR promo segment, the references made to Flair during the broadcast strongly suggest he was meant to be part of the angle. With Flair unable to perform, AEW reportedly had to adjust the segment on short notice—a change that Bryan Alvarez believes contributed to Steamboat coming off “frantic” during his promo.

Flair’s most recent AEW television appearance came during the build to Sting’s retirement earlier this year. He has since acknowledged ongoing health issues as the primary reason for his light AEW schedule.

As of now, there’s no word on when (or if) Flair will return to AEW programming, but the company clearly had plans for “The Nature Boy” on Dynamite. Whether those plans get revisited once he recovers remains to be seen.

Jeff Jarrett No Longer AEW’s Manager of Live Events

It looks like Jeff Jarrett’s backstage run with AEW has quietly come to an end. According to a new report from Fightful, the WWE Hall of Famer is no longer serving as AEW’s Manager of Live Events and hasn’t held that position “for a while.”

Jarrett’s departure from the role appears to be part of a behind-the-scenes shake-up, as AEW recently posted a listing to hire a new Live Events Manager, signaling that the company is moving forward with a fresh approach to its touring and event operations.

For now, Jarrett remains under contract as an on-screen performer, though his in-ring activity has slowed significantly in 2025. His last notable AEW storyline came earlier this year in a feud involving MJF, and he hasn’t been featured on television since.

While there’s no official word on when—or if—Jarrett will return to AEW programming, his shift away from the live events department marks another change in the company’s evolving backstage structure.

Jarrett joined AEW in late 2022, taking on multiple roles both on-camera and behind the curtain. Given his decades of experience promoting wrestling events across the globe, his exit from the live event position could mark the end of one chapter for “Double J,” while leaving the door open for what comes next—either inside AEW or beyond.

Chavo Guerrero Officially Returns to WWE, Will Help Lead WWE × AAA Collaboration

The Guerrero legacy lives on in WWE. During a recent chat with veteran journalist Bill Apter, Chavo Guerrero confirmed that he’s officially back with the company — this time taking on a behind-the-scenes role connected to WWE’s ongoing partnership with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.

Rumors of Chavo’s return began swirling earlier this year when he was spotted backstage at a WWE × AAA event. Now, the 55-year-old wrestling veteran has confirmed that he’s signed a new deal and is helping coordinate WWE’s crossover shows with AAA.

“Yeah, I just re-signed with WWE,” Chavo said. “I’m helping out with their AAA shows and putting things together. I’m back with them.”

Chavo expressed excitement about the collaboration, calling it a major step for the future of Lucha Libre under the WWE banner.

“Just to see AAA under that WWE umbrella is pretty awesome,” he continued. “We want to keep the tradition of Lucha Libre alive — what makes it so amazing — and combine that with WWE’s marketing and production. The sky’s the limit. I think the show’s going to skyrocket and give fans even better wrestling.”

As part of one of wrestling’s most respected dynasties, Chavo’s return brings not only experience but authenticity to WWE’s growing connection with Latin American audiences. His blend of ring knowledge, cultural insight, and storytelling history could make him a key figure in shaping how WWE presents Lucha Libre on a global stage.

With WWE and AAA working closer than ever, and Chavo Guerrero now back in the mix, fans could be witnessing the start of a new golden era for international wrestling collaboration.

Nikki Bell Turns Heel by Attacking Stephanie Vaquer After World Title Defense on Raw, Reaction to Heel Turn

The WWE Women’s World Championship picture took a stunning twist on Monday night’s Raw, as Nikki Bella viciously turned on Stephanie Vaquer moments after the champion successfully defended her title against Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. What began as a moment of celebration quickly spiraled into betrayal, as Bella struck down the very woman she had publicly supported for months.

Vaquer entered the triple threat match knowing the odds were against her — facing both the powerhouse Rodriguez and the cunning Perez. From the opening bell, Rodriguez used her strength advantage to dominate, throwing Vaquer around with ease. But the technically gifted Vaquer weathered the storm, countering a flurry of power moves and nearly sealing the win with a stunning crossbody, only for Rodriguez to kick out at two.

The chaos outside the ring nearly cost Vaquer the match when Perez grabbed her leg, but Bella, who had been ringside offering moral support, intervened by chasing Perez away. The distraction gave Vaquer a much-needed opening. After dodging a middle-rope attack from Rodriguez, the champion landed her devastating Spinal Tap, securing the three-count and retaining her title.

However, Vaquer’s celebration was short-lived. Perez, furious over the loss, tried to ambush the champion, but Bella once again ran her off — seemingly coming to Vaquer’s aid. That’s when the shocking moment unfolded. As Vaquer turned to thank her longtime supporter, Nikki Bella blasted her in the face with the championship belt. The WWE Hall of Famer then stood over the fallen champion, holding the Women’s World Title high while taunting the crowd.

In a symbolic gesture, Bella tore off her trademark red “Fearless” top to reveal a darker, edgier version of her iconic gear — signaling a dramatic transformation and the rebirth of the “Fearless” persona with a sinister twist.

The message was clear: Nikki Bella isn’t here to mentor anymore — she’s here to conquer. While WWE hasn’t announced when the inevitable showdown between Bella and Vaquer will take place, one thing is certain: the Women’s World Championship scene just became a lot more dangerous.

Backstage Reaction to Nikki Bella’s Stunning Heel Turn

Backstage sources say Nikki Bella’s shocking attack on Stephanie Vaquer was one of the most talked-about moments of the night among talent and production staff. Many within WWE reportedly kept the turn tightly under wraps to preserve the surprise, with only a handful of people aware of the angle before showtime.

According to one insider, WWE officials view Bella’s heel turn as a “statement moment” designed to jolt the women’s division and spark a major new rivalry heading into the winter season. The creative team is said to be thrilled about Bella’s willingness to return in a darker, more ruthless role — a stark contrast from her previous appearances as a beloved Hall of Famer and reality TV star.

Fan reactions online were equally intense. Social media lit up with mixed emotions — some fans praising the storytelling and the unexpected swerve, while others expressed shock at seeing Bella take down her own protégé. Many noted the symbolism in Bella shedding her red “Fearless” tank top, calling it a powerful visual for a full-blown heel rebirth.

Whether Bella’s new attitude leads her straight into a title match with Vaquer remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: WWE has reignited one of its biggest female names, and the Women’s World Championship picture just got its most intriguing twist in months.

John Cena Finally Becomes a Grand Slam Champion After Winning Intercontinental Title in Boston

John Cena has officially completed the ultimate WWE milestone — the 16-time World Champion is now a Grand Slam Champion. In an emotional and hard-fought victory, Cena defeated Dominik Mysterio in the opening match of WWE Raw from his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, to capture the Intercontinental Championship for the very first time in his storied career.

The night began with Triple H kicking off Raw and introducing Cena to a massive hometown ovation. But before Cena could address the crowd, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio interrupted, leading the WWE COO to make the match official right then and there.

Dominik tried to play his usual mind games, even attempting to walk away early, but Cena wasn’t about to let the moment slip away. The action quickly spilled to the outside, with Mysterio throwing Cena into the steel steps. Despite the punishment, the veteran refused to stay down and made it back into the ring just in time to beat the count.

The match became a mix of tribute and trickery — Mysterio hit a slick sequence of the Three Amigos and tried to channel Eddie Guerrero by faking a chair shot. Cena matched his antics, mirroring Dominik’s ploy and turning the tables in classic fashion. A referee bump briefly halted the match, as Mysterio tapped out to the STF with no official to call it. By the time a second referee arrived, Dominik had recovered enough to keep the match going.

In the end, Mysterio connected with a 619 and went for the frog splash, but Cena rolled through mid-air, hoisting him up into an Attitude Adjustment to secure the pinfall and the Intercontinental Championship.

After the bell, Cena celebrated with the Boston crowd, proudly declaring, “The champ is here!” as fireworks lit up the arena. The victory not only marks Cena’s first run with the Intercontinental Title but also cements his place among WWE’s most elite — joining the ranks of those who’ve captured every major championship in company history.

At long last, John Cena’s WWE résumé is complete.

Zoey Stark’s WWE Return Reportedly Delayed Until Mid-2026 Following Major Knee Surgery

It’s been a tough road to recovery for Zoey Stark, and it looks like the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion will be out of action longer than originally expected.

Stark has been sidelined since suffering a devastating knee injury back in May during a WWE Raw triple threat Money in the Bank qualifier against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane. The match was cut short after Stark landed awkwardly following a springboard dropkick, immediately clutching her knee. It was later revealed that she had torn her ACL, MCL, and meniscus — a combination that often requires extensive surgery and rehab time.

Initial reports suggested WWE expected Stark to miss the remainder of 2025, but according to a new update from BodySlam+, that timeline has now been pushed even further. Sources told the outlet that Stark is now targeting a mid-2026 return, though her recovery is said to be progressing well so far. WWE officials reportedly remain “very high” on her potential, even beginning to discuss possible creative directions for her eventual comeback.

Interestingly, internal talk points to Stark possibly returning as a babyface, which would mark a significant shift from the heel persona she’s carried since her main roster debut in 2023.

After moving up from NXT, Stark immediately made an impact as Trish Stratus’ protégé, helping the Hall of Famer in her feud with Becky Lynch before eventually turning on her mentor at Payback 2023. Stark later teamed up with Shayna Baszler and briefly formed the Pure Fusion Collective alongside Sonya Deville, but that alliance dissolved earlier this year following roster cuts.

For now, Stark continues to rehab her knee after undergoing surgery at Rothman Orthopaedics in Orlando. Despite the extended absence, WWE higher-ups are reportedly optimistic about her future and eager to reintroduce her once she’s cleared.

While fans may have to wait until next year to see Zoey Stark back in the ring, it sounds like WWE is already laying the groundwork for her return story — and if her past performances are any indication, she’ll be ready to make an impact when that time comes.
