WWE’s Karl Anderson To Be Out 6-9 Months

Karl Anderson will be out of action for six to nine months.

Anderson took to Twitter this week to announce that he underwent surgery. He captioned his tweet with, “See you after WrestleMania.”

On the latest edition of his “Talk N’ Shop” podcast, Anderson revealed that he underwent surgery for a torn rotator cuff tendon and a partially torn labrum. He said,

“It happened two months ago. I felt something in a match, and didn’t think anything of it because that’s what we do. The next week, something else happened in a match again. ‘That hurt a little worse,’ but still thought nothing of it because that’s how we’ve always rolled. We had three or four more matches, and each other, progressively, I realized, ‘This thing hurts.’”

Anderson added, “I wasn’t able to sleep at night because it was aching and throbbing. ‘Let me tell somebody.’ I talked to the WWE doctors who handled it right away and they immediately scheduled me for an anthrogram. They immediately saw it was a torn rotator cuff tendon and a partially torn labrum.”

AEW Files New Trademark On Historic Wrestling Event Name

AEW has, across the past two years, significantly ramped up the amount of pay-per-views and special themed episodes they air annually. The promotion even once held a Bash at the Beach special, which was a callback to the WCW pay-per-view of the same name, and according to recent filings from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, AEW has filed for both “AEW Parade of Champions” and “Parade of Champions” which is a callback to the WCCW events that the late Fritz Von Erich once held annually. This historic name calls back to iconic events from the days of the NWA and WCCW, sparking excitement over the possibilities of how AEW might breathe new life into the brand. This trademark could signal a brand-new show, or perhaps a tribute to wrestling’s past that fits seamlessly within AEW’s evolving event lineup.

The Legacy of “Parade of Champions”

“Parade of Champions” was first introduced by World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in the 1980s, originally held as a tribute to the late David Von Erich, a member of one of wrestling’s most respected families. The event became a monumental part of wrestling history, hosting legendary matches and memorable rivalries that captivated fans of the era. By reviving this name, AEW not only taps into wrestling nostalgia but also pays homage to a golden era of territorial wrestling, a time when in-ring storytelling and larger-than-life personalities defined the sport.

Why AEW’s Move is a Big Deal

Filing a trademark for “Parade of Champions” suggests that AEW may be planning to launch an event that recalls the legacy and grandeur of the original. AEW has a history of acknowledging and celebrating wrestling’s past—whether through reviving match styles, paying homage to legendary figures, or referencing historic feuds. This potential new show could bring AEW’s unique twist to an old classic, much like they did with “Battle of the Belts” and other vintage-themed concepts.

How AEW Might Use “Parade of Champions”

There are several directions AEW could go with “Parade of Champions.” The company might introduce it as a standalone special or even as a pay-per-view, highlighting AEW’s best talent alongside potential appearances by wrestling legends. AEW’s knack for incorporating legends and indie wrestling stars could also come into play, providing a perfect setting for dream matches and unexpected appearances that blend past, present, and future.

Alternatively, AEW could utilize this event as an opportunity to showcase champions from other promotions, staying true to the “champions” theme. In the past, AEW has partnered with companies like NJPW and AAA, making it possible that “Parade of Champions” could feature titleholders from various promotions, truly embodying a parade of the best in wrestling.

All supercard versions of the Parade of Champions events were held in Irving, Texas, and considering that AEW is set to hold next year’s All In pay-per-view in Texas, their version of Parade of Champions could take place ahead of the massive event. Additionally, the last two active Von Erichs, Ross and Marshall — the sons of Kevin Von Erich — are signed to AEW and are currently two thirds of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Dustin Rhodes, so the event will more than likely platform the family once again and could potentially be the brothers’ gateway to becoming featured on AEW more often.

AEW’s Respect for Wrestling History

Tony Khan has always expressed a deep respect for wrestling’s roots, and the decision to trademark “Parade of Champions” reflects this passion for preserving wrestling history. Fans of AEW often appreciate the nods to past promotions, matches, and iconic wrestlers, and this new development is likely to resonate with fans who value the sport’s rich history.

By tapping into a beloved part of wrestling heritage, AEW shows it’s not only innovating but also honoring the traditions that made wrestling the global phenomenon it is today.

Another Member Of Samoan Dynasty Signs With WWE – Lance Anoa’i

Per a new report, another member of the legendary Samoan Dynasty has signed with WWE.

According to Fightful Select, former MLW Tag Team Champion Lance Anoa’i signed with WWE over the summer, though he’s currently sidelined with an injury. As such, WWE has not made any imminent creative plans for Lance for the “WWE NXT” brand nor its main roster. While there is no word on the exact timeline for Lance’s recovery, Fightful claims that he will not be cleared to compete for “a while.”

On Thursday morning, a photo surfaced (courtesy of MuscleManMalcolm on X) of Lance standing in a “We Are NXT” shirt as he was surrounded by other up-and-coming talents of WWE’s Performance Center. At the age of 32, Lance, also the son of Samu, brings forth 14 years worth of in-ring experience, including appearances in Major League Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and WWE itself. Lance’s previous WWE work began in 2014, when he and Rhett Titus lost to The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor) on “WWE SmackDown.” Elsewhere, Lance battled The Authors of Pain on “NXT” as well as Shane McMahon on “WWE Raw” in 2019.

In October 2023, Lance confirmed that he, alongside his tag partner Juicy Finau, received his release from MLW after requesting it. Lance and Finau previously served as the MLW Tag Team Champions before their reign ended at the hands of AKIRA and Rickey Shane Page in July 2023.

The Samoan Dynasty has produced some of WWE’s biggest stars, from High Chief Peter Maivia The Wild Samoans (Afa & Sika), Rocky Johnson, Yokozuna, Rikish, The Rock and Roman Reigns to The Usos, Solo Sikoa and many others.

Roman Reigns’ unprecedented title reign and The Bloodline storyline have not only brought renewed mainstream attention to WWE but also elevated the entire roster. Adding yet another family member to this legacy could open doors for new storylines and alliances, especially if this new signee joins the ranks of The Bloodline in the future.

Powerhouse Hobbs Returns To AEW As Ricochet’s Mystery Partner

“Powerhouse” Will Hobbs returned to “AEW Dynamite” following an injury that left him on the shelf since April after tearing a tendon during an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Jon Moxley. Hobbs returned to be Ricochet’s mystery partner in the main event against The Don Callis Family’s Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita. During his entrance, Ricochet got on the microphone to tell Takeshita and Fletcher, who had told him during “AEW Collision” on Saturday that he could pick any partner he wanted, that he “did some digging” and found that Hobbs’ contract with the Family expired, and he felt forgotten about. Ricochet said Hobbs was pissed off, and Hobbs’ music hit. The pair headed down the ramp, and immediately took the fight to Fletcher and Takeshita as the bell rang.

Ricochet pinned the International Champion, Takeshita, and Fletcher attempted to take out Hobbs and Ricochet after the match. Mark Davis ran down to take on Fletcher, but was met by Lance Archer and Brian Cage. Adam Cole, Takeshita’s opponent for next week’s “Dynamite,” interfered as well, fighting the champion up the ramp to the back. Will Ospreay also made an entrance and ran off the rest of the Don Callis Family, with Ospreay, Davis, and Ricochet standing tall alongside the former champion in the ring to end the broadcast.

AEW Original Marko Stunt Announces His Retirement From Professional Wrestling, Shares Health Struggles Behind Decision

Former AEW and GCW star Marko Stunt has announced his retirement from in-ring competition.

Stunt has appeared on the “Love Wrestling” podcast, where he commented on his retirement, his obligations to his family, and the hopes he had on getting back into the industry before having to face reality.

Former AEW talent and fan favorite, Marko Stunt, has opened up about the health issues that have forced him into an early retirement from professional wrestling. Known for his high-energy style and underdog persona, Stunt was one of the founding faces of AEW’s early years, most notably as a member of the Jurassic Express alongside Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus — now Killswitch — as the Jurassic Express trio, but found himself left out of the group’s appearances more and more as Christian Cage joined the fold, with Stunt ultimately departing the promotion in 2022. Since then, he has continued to work with Game Changer Wrestling and other independent promotions, but he appears to have made his last wrestling appearance as a surprise return during “AEW Collision” in July.

Stunt explained the unfortunate combination of injuries that have taken a toll on his ability to compete. According to the former AEW star, issues began with a serious leg injury that continued to worsen over time. Complications from his injuries impacted his mobility, which in turn limited his ability to perform at the demanding physical level wrestling requires. After trying to manage the ongoing pain and recover through physical therapy and other treatments, Stunt had to make the tough decision to prioritize his health.

Stunt noted that while he loved his time in AEW and the connections he formed there, his health challenges made it increasingly difficult to maintain the intensity fans came to expect from him in the ring. At only 27, he reflected on the frustration of facing retirement at such a young age but emphasized that his choice was necessary for long-term well-being. He expressed gratitude to fans who supported him throughout his wrestling career and hoped to stay connected with them in other ways moving forward.

Though his in-ring career has come to an end, Marko Stunt has hinted at remaining involved in the wrestling world, potentially through managing, coaching, or even backstage roles that keep him close to the industry he loves. For now, his priority is focusing on his health and exploring new opportunities.

Stunt’s story serves as a reminder of the physical toll wrestling takes on even the youngest, most energetic performers, and his decision highlights the difficult balance many athletes face between passion and well-being. As fans wish him the best, it’s clear his legacy as one of AEW’s originals will not be forgotten.
