WWE Announces Super Show-Down At Massive Venue In Australia

australia wwe super show-down mcg melbourne cricket ground

WWE plans to make history by putting on Australia’s biggest-ever wrestling show later this year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

We first reported on the possibility of the event back in December — at the time it was going to be called Global Warning II — but now it’s official, with a new name!

The October 6 event called WWE Super Show-Down appears to be produced in the style of Greatest Royal Rumble. WWE hopes to pack the 100,000 seat stadium by bringing all its top talent — and featuring what’s being labeled the “final showdown” between The Undertaker and Triple H.

John Cena, Kurt Angle, and Ronda Rousey are among the other names being billed. It’s worth noting WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar does not appear on the advertisement featuring two dozen wrestlers. No other matches have been announced.

According to The Herald Sun, Melbourne is looking at this event as a tourism opportunity. They’re hopeful the show can create an economic influx similar to Global Warning in 2002 — which generated more than $20 million for the local economy.

The Sun notes the event will feature a Wrestlemania atmosphere utilizing the same design and production team from WWE’s top event. The MCG is expected to be configured for about 70,000 seats, according to The Sun. Back in 2002, some 56,000 fans attended Global Warning at Etihad Stadium.

The event is being put on as a “partnership” with promotion company TEG Danity.

A WWE news release says the show will be available on WWE Network and be available internationally on pay-per-view. Tickets go on sale June 28.

WATCH: New Day Defeats The Elite In Street Fighter Battle At E3, But Omega Got Last Laugh (Sorta)

new day elite street fighter e3 video

The battle between New Day and The Elite at E3 in Los Angeles ended with lots of tears on Thursday — but not for the reason you’d think.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks faced off against Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston in a team battle exhibition live at E3 2018, playing Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.

The trash talking kicked off right away between the two teams, with Matt Jackson saying the Bucks would virtually superkick New Day back to WWE‘s midcard.

Nick Jackson went up first against Kofi, but was met with defeat. Next up was Kenny vs. E, and Omega swept their battle with ease. Xavier Woods played against Matt Jackson in the final round and was dominant in their encounter, leading his team to victory.

Omega then challenged Woods to a best of five battle and it was agreed that the loser would eat a habanero pepper. After an intense battle, Kenny was victorious.

Watch the full video (including Xavier AND Kenny both tearfully eating peppers) below.

WWE Stars No Match In Tug Of War With Lion Cub (Video)

Image result for wwe stars no match in tug of war against lion cub

Last month, the San Antonio Zoo posted a video to its Facebook page showcasing three WWE wrestlers playing tug of war with a 2 1/2 year old lion cub.

Billed as weighing over 300 pounds, WWE SmackDown star Killian Dain and NXT stars Ricochet and Fabian Aichner tested their strength during a visit to the zoo.

Holding a rope, the three couldn’t move the cub, who was separated by glass and holding the rope with its mouth, at all.

Regarded as the King of the Jungle, lions are an apex predator and proved it even at the age of 2 1/2 against three wrestlers.

Rusev Pressing Charges Against Memphis Sheraton Over Theft From Room

Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed Rusev filed a police report this week after $500, his wallet and a camera were allegedly taken from the hotel room in Memphis where he was staying.

Rusev tweeted on Monday, “Thank you [Sheraton Hotel] Memphis for “cleaning” the room and stealing my wife camera and my money from my wallet.”

The following day, Paige tweeted about the same hotel with similar accusations.

“If you’re in the Memphis area don’t EVER stay at the [Sheraton Memphis] it’s literally the worst,” the SmackDown Live GM wrote. “Things stolen, bad customer service and room service takes two hours just for a salad and WE are the inconvenience. Ugh. The worst.”

We reached out to the hotel due to the allegations made and a hotel operator told us “no comment” before a manager would get on the phone.

Rusev subsequently replied Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin’s tweet saying he filed a police report and plans to press charges. “Dig in. I’m prosecuting. Especially after the head of security said it’s my fault for living [leaving] my stuff in the room.” He also claims there was a “do not disturb” sign on the door.

According to the Memphis PD, Rusev told officers he and Lana left their room around 12:30 pm. When he returned around 1:10 pm, however, the money was missing from his wallet. Plus, Lana’s camera was gone. “The head of Security Kennen Brooks spoke with the victim and advised,” reads the statement from police. “No other Suspect information is available at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.”
