WWE is doing marketing research regarding adding a possible tier-based system for the WWE Network. It’s not a for sure thing at this time, but WWE is very strongly looking into a four-tiered pricing based system where there would be free access to the network at last, but with a catch.
The free tier would include video clips (5 minutes or less),the video archive, and you can only watch up to 5 hours per month. It would also include commercials and would be available on all devices. The free tier also includes the live stream but they would black out the pay-per-views, NXT and the Cruiserweight Classic, though.
The very first paid tier would be $4.99/month, you’d be getting the “Big Four” PPV events (So stuff like the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series). NXT wouldn’t be available on the live stream but you would have access to NXT on-demand thankfully. You would also get limited commercials and would only be available on phones and tablets.
The $9.99 tier would be the same content that they already do right now, but it would have limited commercials and it would be available on every device. Along with that you’ll get weekly episodes of the Cruiserweight Classic as well. It looks like the CWC will be returning but not as a tournament on a yearly basis.
The final $14.99 tier would include footage of other promotions, and there would be zero commercials. Any fan would also get perks like early ticket access to events, offline content downloads, small group online chat, 2nd screen content and invites to in-person VIP meet-ups. WWE specifically mentions TNA and ROH as possible promotions that you’d be able to see in the $14.99 tier. This price tier includes everything from the other tiers plus the perks and content from independent promotions.
There’s a lot of speculation on the alleged Alberto Del Rio stabbing incident over the weekend in San Antonio, Texas. As noted via MLW Radio, Del Rio was stabbed several times by a man on Saturday after the man hit Del Rio’s car with his own car by accident. The two drivers exited their vehicles and had words, leading to the man pulling a knife. Del Rio reportedly turned to leave, as he had to catch a flight to Mexico for Sunday’s AAA show that he missed, but the man slashed him from behind. They ended up on the ground and Del Rio got the knife away from the man but he fled in his vehicle. Reports from Del Rio and MLW Radio were that witnesses saw the attack and got the man’s license plate, police were called and a report was filed.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio and Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the San Antonio Police have no record of the alleged attack involving a high-profile celebrity. Meltzer says the local police aren’t saying the incident did not happen but they apparently don’t know about it.
Another interesting twist to the story is Del Rio’s girlfriend Paige. The report from MLW Radio did not mention the injured WWE Superstar being there but one account Del Rio gave Mexican media did. Meltzer was also relayed a story that mentioned Paige being there. Word is that while Del Rio and the man went to the ground with the man still stabbing Del Rio, she got involved and was thrown by the suspect. Del Rio went to check on her and that is when the man got away in his own car.
Paige being there also raises suspicion on Del Rio’s claim that he could not contact AAA until Monday morning because he lost his phone during the incident as Paige was with him and would have had a phone to use to at least start the process of notifying AAA.
Tonight’s 10/5 Lucha Underground episode on the El Rey Network will feature the following:

Former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong said he wanted to “pursue other opportunities” when he left the company in June … and now he’s getting the opportunity to be a dad!
Strong’s fiancée — MMA fighter Marina Shafir — shared the news Monday night on Instagram … saying, “This is REAL life. I simply cannot explain the emotions that have been flooding me and @roderickstrong in the last few weeks … I did not prepare to be a mom (even though, everyone close around me always told me I had the instinct), but I’m on this bandwagon to the end now!”
Shafir also invited fans to follow her pregnancy, noting that she’ll be restarting her YouTube channel and vlogging about the experience weekly.
No word on the baby’s gender … but with those genes, we’re assuming it’ll be a badass bundle of joy.

As noted, Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio) missed Sunday night’s AAA Heroes Inmortales X event in Mexico City and later revealed that he was attacked by a “criminal” outside of a restaurant, revealing stab wounds in an Instagram post. You can see the graphic photos below. AAA put out a statement on Sunday, saying the former WWE Champion had failed the Mexican public.
According to MLW Radio, AAA was unable to communicate with Del Rio as he lost his phone after the attack in San Antonio. Del Rio made contact on Monday morning, then the company apologized and are backing him now. Their relationship is still in good standing. Del Rio actually wanted to try and make the show by chartering a flight but was talked out of it as he was still hospitalized.
The incident happened in San Antonio, Texas before Del Rio was to fly out for the AAA event on Saturday night. A confrontation took place when the driver of a car hit Del Rio’s car. The driver and Del Rio both exited their cars and had words. The driver pulled a knife and Del Rio went to walk away as he had to get to the airport but he was attacked from behind and slashed with the knife. Del Rio turned around and the man tried to slash his face but Del Rio was able to move to the side, still catching a slash to the side of his head.
Del Rio took the man down but while taking him down, the man continued to fight, slash and stab at Del Rio’s arm. He eventually got the knife from the man but the suspect got away in his car. There were witnesses and they did get his license plate but there’s no word yet on if he’s been arrested. Police came and a report was filed. Del Rio went to the hospital to get stitches as he lost a lot of blood but is he said to be alright.

The new book “Rowdy: The Roddy Piper Story”, which began as an autobiography the late WWE Hall of Famer began writing himself before he passed away, later being completed by his son Colt Toombs and daughter Ariel Toombs will be officially released tomorrow by Random House. Promotional material for the 400 page book notes:
The biggest pro wrestling bio since Bret Hart’s Hitman: legendary Rowdy Roddy Piper’s unfinished autobiography, re-conceived and completed by his children, actress/musician Ariel Teal Toombs and wrestler Colt Baird Toombs.
In early 2015, Roderick Toombs, aka Rowdy Roddy Piper, began researching his own autobiography with a trip through Western Canada. He was re-discovering his youth, a part of his life he never discussed during his 61 years, many spent as one of the greatest talents in the history of pro wrestling. Following his death due to a heart attack that July, two of his children took on the job of telling Roddy’s story, separating fact from fiction in the extraordinary life of their father.
Already an accomplished wrestler before Wrestlemania in 1985, Roddy Piper could infuriate a crowd like no “heel” before him. The principal antagonist to all-American champion Hulk Hogan, Piper used his quick wit, explosive ring style and fearless baiting of audiences to push pro wrestling to unprecedented success. Wrestling was suddenly pop culture’s main event. An actor with over 50 screen credits, including the lead in John Carpenter’s #1 cult classic, They Live, Piper knew how to keep fans hungry, just as he’d kept them wishing for a complete portrait of his most unusual life. He wanted to write this book for his family; now they have written it for him.
