Impact Wrestling announced the following:

Iconic ‘WOS’ British Wrestling to Return to ITV

MANCHESTER | NASHVILLE – ITV Studios Entertainment Manchester announced today that it has teamed up with IMPACT Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., to bring WOS Wrestling back to ITV, with an initial commission for a 10-part series.

The commission from ITV’s Helen Warner follows a successful one-off-special, which aired on New Year’s Eve 2016. The Executive Producers for ITV Studios are Tom McLennan and Simon Marsh. Jeff Jarrett, the Chief Creative Officer for IMPACT Wrestling, will be the Executive Producer for IMPACT Wrestling.

Thirty years after the original WOS ended – and legendary stars such as Big Daddy, Mick McManus and Rollerball Rocco left British screens – this new series will feature the very best of today’s wrestlers from the current red-hot U.K. wrestling scene.

They will compete in front of a live audience at the intimate Preston Guild Hall on Thursday 25th May and Friday 26th May (doors 7pm / bell time 7.30pm).

Tickets for these historic shows will go on sale at 9am on Friday 7th April from Gigsandtours.com / Ticketmaster.co.uk / prestonguildhall.co.uk

There will also be a launch event this Monday (27th March) at 2pm in Manchester, where the full details of the WOS live shows will be announced, including the roster. Press and fans are invited to attend to the launch, which will include a Q&A and meet & greet. Places are extremely limited, to reserve one please email wswaudience@itv.com

This initial commission is part of a comprehensive co-production agreement between ITV Studios and IMPACT Wrestling to relaunch the WOS Wrestling brand, bringing British stars to ITV while leveraging the roster and creative team of Impact Wrestling along with its expertise in live event production and international distribution.

“This opportunity to work with ITV Studios to revive this iconic brand in the United Kingdom is a perfect example of the ways in which we intend to leverage our strengths to build our presence in international markets in collaboration with local organizations,” said Ed Nordholm, President of Impact Wrestling.

Director of Entertainment, ITV Studios Manchester, Tom Mclennan said: “Britain’s wrestling scene is thriving and there has never been a better time to bring it back to ITV after a gap of 30 years.”

Jeff Jarrett, Chief Creative Officer for IMPACT Wrestling, added: “The WOS brand is etched in professional wrestling tradition. My family’s lineage in the industry dates back 70-plus years, so I am honoured for the opportunity to work on reviving the legacy of this historic British series.”

partnership impact aaa tna jeff jarrett

A new alliance in the wrestling world has arrived … because Impact Wrestling and Lucha Libre AAA announced on Wednesday that they’ve reached a partnership deal.

The Anthem press release states that the agreement includes a talent exchange and “other opportunities to collaborate with each other in their respective markets.”

Jeff Jarrett sounded thrilled by the new deal and was quoted saying, “This is an exciting time to collaborate, coinciding with AAA’s 25th anniversary and IMPACT Wrestling’s 15th anniversary. By building bridges with various partners globally, we can give fans a premier product featuring the best possible talent, which has always been a top priority.”

Jarrett also promised more partnerships “in the coming weeks and months.”

Matt Hardy And Jeff Hardy Offered New WWE Contracts

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that WWE has offered new contracts to Matt and Jeff Hardy and that “all signs point to an inevitable [WWE] return.”

As we previously reported, Broken Matt is currently battling with Impact Wrestling over the use of his name/gimmick.  The wrestling company believes they should be paid when it’s used, but Hardy doesn’t agree. The brothers are also the current ROH tag champs after signing a short-term deal.

Still no word on whether WWE creative is looking to use their “broken” characters, but the legal side of things probably doesn’t bode well for a chance of that happening immediately.

Update:

PWInsider confirmed reports that Matt and Jeff Hardy have been in talks with WWE, and noted that “it’s a matter or when, not if” the brothers return to the company.

According to PWInsider, the deal is only for Matt and Jeff, and not for Reby or Senor Benjamin. It was noted that one major issue that would have to be worked out is the schedule, as the Hardys likely don’t want a full time schedule.

Konnan Not Happy With Impact – AAA Alliance

As noted, Jeff Jarrett, Nordholm and Jeremy Borash were at AAA’s annual Rey de Reyes tournament this past weekend and announced an alliance between AAA and Impact Wrestling. Jarrett noted that Impact still plans to work with Konnan’s CRASH promotion in Mexico. Konnan was asked on Twitter if he was “OK” with the alliance between AAA and Impact, and he admitted that he wasn’t:

Konnan did confirm that despite the AAA – Impact partnership, CRASH talent like the Laredo Kid and Garza Jr. will still be featured on Impact Wrestling.

Reby Hardy Reveals Legal Proposal From Impact Wrestling, Says They Are Done Playing Nice

As noted, Impact Wrestling sent ROH and pay-per-view companies legal threats before ROH’s 15th Anniversary show last weekend. Reby Hardy posted several posts on Twitter regarding Impact’s legal battle with the Hardys, as seen below:

UPDATE: TNA sent an absolutely laughable legal proposal re: trademark, usage & ownership. Sigh.We tried to play nice. Truly.
Oh well.

They also seem real hurt about #f–kThatOwl. Awww.

Cute.

Fun facts ! Señor Benjamin never signed one piece of paper stating TNA could ever use, broadcast or profit from his image/likeness.

Fun facts ! Maxel was never legally cleared to work/appear on camera. Wanna check them TV child labor laws & get back to me, TNA ?

Fun facts ! Nearly every notable attribute that makes #BROKEN Matt Hardy “Broken Matt Hardy” was developed by ME in a @WaffleHouse. Yummy !

Fun facts ! Trying to prevent someone from legally making money is torturous interference of business & a HUGE OFFENSE ! How bow dat C&D ?

Fun facts ! I filed for the #BROKEN trademark when all the shady business from JJ & Anthem got back to me, WEEKS before his contract was up.

If owning my husband was that important, why not file/apply – oh, I don’t know – BEFORE his contract was up ? BEFORE you found out I did ?

And the store I’ve been running for 5+ years, 100% by myself, with MY original designs & my sole effort/investment. Yeah, they want a cut.

Theme song I composed/recorded/graciously allowed them to use GRATIS when they were having licensing issues w/music. They claiming that too.

If the character is TNA’s, where are their format sheets ? (Don’t exist). Where are the scripts ? (Can’t be produced; don’t exist). And….

..Best part. Ready ? SURPRISE ! “The Hardy Show” was behind the scenes recording OUR entire creative process this whole time. See you soon !

And #f–kThatOwl

Reby also noted that all of the character terms (‘delete’, ‘broken’, etc.) were Matt’s idea except for “obsolete,” which she said she came up with. She also hinted that they have hired legal representation:

I’d suggest those who don’t know the 1st thing about image releases in television refrain from commenting on what is/isn’t “right”……it’s past a matter of opinion at this point. It comes down to law, something we never had to worry about til TNA brought it into things

They wanna get legal & specific ?
We can get legal & specific.
That’s what it comes down to.
Sad, but that’s what we’re forced to do.

From now on, someone will be speaking for us regarding the ridiculous situation we’ve been put in. And not on twitter. Thx for the support.

Maxel was 100% safe & well protected at all times. Dixie & Universal made sure of that. Not sure new mgmt would have; PART of reason we left

Getting technical NOW regarding releases & permissions to appear re: Maxel because we have no choice but to given the circumstances.

We didn’t bring legal garbage into this. TNA did. They want to bring the law into it, so can we. Simple as that. Anyone else questioning anything about my kid can pull a Maddox & dump your BS load elsewhere. Thanks

Alberto El Patron Relinquishes Impact World Title Back To Lashley (Video)

Controversy surrounded the end of the Impact Wrestling World Title Match between Alberto El Patron and Bobby Lashley. After a pair of referee bumps, El Patron hit Lashley in the head with the World title belt and got the pin. As both referees were recovering, one seemingly saw the belt shot while the other counted the pin for El Patron. After the match, Bruce Prichard confronted Alberto El Patron about how he won the match and said he shouldn’t be the champion.

Today, Impact Wrestling posted the video above showing a meeting between Alberto El Patron and members of Impact Wrestling about what happened. Alberto was told by Prichard, “Due to the way that you won the championship…let’s just cut to the chase, we’re asking you to relinquish the championship back to Bobby Lashley.”

Laughing at the proposition, Alberto said “You guys have to be kidding” and Prichard responded, “It’s the right thing to do, let me ask you a question, how would your Dad feel about this?”

Alberto quickly rose from his chair in anger, but after calming down, he said he would give the title back to Bobby Lashley if he could get a rematch. He was told that request would be up to Lashley and he would have to ask him first. Alberto said he wouldn’t ask, but “demand” another match and stormed out of the room, leaving the title on the table.

Impact Wrestling airs on Pop TV on Thursdays at 8pm EST.
