Nick Aldis Suspended By The NWA, Pulled From Hard Times 3 PPV

On Sunday, former NWA World Champion Nick Aldis announced that he was giving notice to the National Wrestling Alliance ahead of his contract expiring.

The promotion has announced today that he is suspended. NWA COO Joe Calli confirmed that Aldis is under contract through December 31.

Aldis was scheduled to wrestle Odinson at the Hard Times 3 pay-per-view this weekend. A replacement will be named for Aldis in the coming days. The promotion issued the following statement to PWInsider:

“NWA response to recent statements made by Nick Aldis

Pursuant to the recent comments made by Nick Aldis, the National Wrestling Alliance, has suspended Aldis from the main roster and effective immediately Aldis will not appear for the Hard Times 3 PPV and Revolution Rumble television tapings in New Orleans, LA on Nov. 12, 2022 and Nov. 13, 2022.

As such, the National Wrestling Alliance reserves its right to comment on this matter at a future date.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL WRESTLING ALLIANCE

Founded in 1948, the National Wrestling Alliance is one of the oldest and most prestigious professional wrestling brands in the world. In 2017, international recording artist William Patrick Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) purchased the NWA with the intention of reinventing the brand for the modern era whilst honoring the legacy of its heyday in the 1980s. Beginning with the critically-acclaimed Ten Pounds Of Gold docu-series, the NWA has since expanded its programming to include two weekly broadcasts (NWA Powerrr & NWA USA) and 6 annual pay-per-views, all of which are available via NWA All Access, our paid subscription service on Triller’s FITE streaming platform. Replays of NWA Powerrr and premieres of NWA USA are also available on the NWA YouTube channel.”

Nick Aldis & NWA Parting Ways (Reportedly)

Nick Aldis and the NWA are reportedly parting ways.

Since 2017, Aldis has pretty much served as the face of the promotion in both his on-screen and backstage roles.

During a subscriber-only Instagram video, the former Impact Wrestling star revealed that he’s given his notice to the National Wrestling Alliance. For what it’s worth, Aldis is scheduled to compete at NWA Hard Times 3.

Aldis made it very clear in his video that he’s not happy with the NWA, Billy Corgan, and the current direction of the company.

Back in July, Aldis was pulled from his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match at NWA 74.

Aldis’ current contract with the NWA runs through January of 2023.

Ricky Morton Details Plans For His And Rock ‘n’ Roll Express’s Final Matches

Ricky Morton is in the midst of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express farewell tour, and he has detailed when he and his longtime tag team partner, Robert Gibson, plan to hang up their wrestling boots for good. The legendary team began their tour earlier this year. Morton appeared on the “Insiders Edge Podcast” and revealed whether or not the final match has been finalized.

“No we haven’t,” Morton said. “There’s so many places that you’d think we’re having our farewell tour, and I guess it’s gonna turn into like Kiss’ farewell tour, it’s gonna go on for 14 years because there’s so many places that we hadn’t been that we need to go back. Here in the United States, it’s a lot of towns that you want to go, but we’re talking about it. Our last match has to be at NWA.”

With that said, Morton did confirm that he and Gibson have at least discussed final match plans with NWA owner Billy Corgan. He then revealed the potential timeframe for the final Rock ‘n’ Roll Express match.

“Probably June, July of next year because Robert and I still have a few towns that we still got to hit,” Morton said.

Morton admitted that he and Gibson were going to wrap up the farewell tour this year, but the team is trying to reach as many towns as possible. Morton said that once his in-ring career comes to a close, he hopes to teach today’s talent that there’s more to the wrestling business than doing high spots.

Mickie James Addresses What Is Next For Her

Earlier this month, former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James dropped a bombshell by expressing on Twitter that she was “done in wrestling.” After seemingly bringing the curtain down on her near 23-year career — with her last match taking place in July at the ABC 12eme Festival International in France — James has now opened up about what might be next.

“I think I’ll always do stuff with wrestling in some capacity,” James said to MyTV26 at StocktonCon 2022. “I enjoy doing things like this [conventions] as a way to reconnect with the fans and, um, I don’t really know what’s next, that’s the beauty of it.”

While continuing to appear at wrestling conventions around the world — with her next major convention appearance taking place during WWE’s Clash at the Castle weekend in Cardiff, Wales, for WrestleFest UK — James is a regular weekly guest on Sirius XM’s “Busted Open Radio” show, discussing the world of pro wrestling with fans who call in and with personalities within the business. James is also currently a co-host on “GAW TV,” alongside Lisa Marie Varon (fka Victoria) and So Cal Val.

James’ last televised match took place on July 14 during an episode of “Impact Wrestling,” where the former Knockouts Champion was defeated by Chelsea Green. James reigned as Knockouts Champion earlier this year before losing the title to Tasha Steelz in March. Prior to losing to Steelz, James surprisingly entered the 2022 WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match while carrying the Knockouts Championship. In addition to those aforementioned promotions, the 42-year-old has also stepped inside the squared circle for the National Wrestling Alliance and Game Changer Wrestling this year.

Matt Cardona Reveals He Has A Torn Bicep

The current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Matt Cardona has revealed he is going to be out of action for the near future due to suffering an injury.

The former WWE Superstar is currently enjoying a strong run right now on the independent scene where he has thrived in a variety of top promotions. Cardona is currently working with Impact Wrestling, while he is also making a big name for himself in other places such as Game Changer Wrestling and the NWA.

Unfortunately during his recent match against Blake Christian at GCW Downward Spiral on May 28, Cardona suffered an arm injury which led to him heading back to Orlando to get the situation looked at. It has now been confirmed that it is a serious issue, as he has torn his bicep.

Despite his brilliant performances as of late and his domination across a variety of different promotions, Cardona is now going to have to take some time on the shelf because his injury does require him to undergo surgery, which will then need to be rehabbed moving forward.

Cardona wrote: “Got a MRI today. Bicep is torn. Surgery needed. Will unfortunately need to cancel some dates.”

It is currently unclear the exact moment when Cardona will be medically cleared to return, and it is unknown what will be happening to his current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship run. He was originally scheduled to defend the title at NWA Alwayz Ready against Nick Aldis on June 11, but that match is now unlikely to be taking place.

On top of that, Cardona currently holds the AIW Absolute and AIW Intense Championships, which are keeping him a busy man, but for now, his focus is going to be on returning to full health.
