At a press conference yesterday in Mexico with AAA President Joaquin Rolden, Alberto Del Rio said he would no longer be using the Del Rio name because it is owned by WWE. He revealed that his new ring name is El Patron. He acknowledged that he can’t wrestle for AAA for 90 days but his lawyers are working on finding a way that he could wrestle at AAA’s TripleMania XXII event this Sunday. He has challenged El Texano Jr. for the AAA Mega Heavyweight Title.

Update On Del Rio & WWE, How He Can Appear For AAA

F4WOnline reports that the situation between Alberto Del Rio & WWE is “very acrimonious” & that WWE is trying to tie Del Rio up in a lengthy non-compete clause, similar to the one that Jim Ross had that recently expired. Del Rio has been making appearances in Mexico under the Alberto Del Rio name that WWE owns, for Sunday’s AAA TripleMania XXII event.

DEl Rio will be appearing at Sunday’s AAA TripleMania XXII show as a special guest. WWE does not want him appearing for AAA shows on the El Rey Network, nor do they want him appearing for TNA.

TNA & AAA Interested In Alberto Del Rio

20140807-154342.jpg

F4WOnline is reporting that both TNA & AAA are interested in signing Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio has a 90 day no-compete clause that is believed to be in place. By Del Rio being terminated, WWE may have nullified the non-compete agreement, leaving Del Rio free to jump to TNA or AAA.

Reportedly TNA tried to contact Del Rio in the immediacy of his WWE release, with a serious offer for him to become the next TNA World Champion. It might appeal to Del Rio as a way of sticking it to WWE. TNA would get a major star & a angle that would become the most talked about story in wrestling. The trouble is that TNA is low on money & potentially without a TV station in a matter of weeks.

AAA seems like a more likely option for Del Rio. AAA is currently executing a long term plan for expansion into the USA. Del Rio is the perfect brand face for that strategy, he fits with AAA’s Mexican tradition but also has American fame. Even before Del Rio was fired, he’d been rumored as a potential signing for AAA when his WWE contract expired some time this year. A t 37 years old, he might consider retiring, but could be swayed to continue his wrestling career by limited dates & maximum money.

Scott Hall Reportedly Refused To Sign A Birthday Card For Kid With Brain Cancer

Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall reportedly refused to sign a Birthday card 6 year old Danny Nickerson, who is battling brain cancer & may not have much time to live.

Some of those who signed the card & sent well wishes in the video above included – Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair, Edge, Bret Hart, Angelina Love, Candice Michelle, Christy Hemme, Lita, Sean Waltman, Maria Kanellis, Lisa Marie Varon, Taryn Terrell, Brooke Tessmacher & Zeus.

Goldberg & Hall have had issues with each other in the past & it was reported that the two actually made peace at this same event. Knowing how Goldberg feels about helping children & seeing how he got choked up in the video for Danny, you have to wonder if he made up with Hall before or after he got word that Hall refusing to sign the card.

On a personal note, I love what Zeus had to say in the video. What a great message, Zeus had for Danny. I know all of us here at DTRTwrestling.com share the same opinion expressed by Zeus.
