(GLOW) Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling Coming To Netflix

Source: WrestlingINC

GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) owner Ursula Hayden, also known as Babe The Farmer’s Daughter, announced on Facebook earlier this week that she signed a deal for a full new season of GLOW TV on Netflix. No other details were given but Diva-Dirt reports that Jenji Kohan, the creator of hit shows Orange Is The New Black and Weeds, is set to begin working on the series. It was also indicated that they are working on a pilot but the full season has not been confirmed yet.

GLOW will apparently tell the tale of a struggling actress in the 1980’s, who lands a role on a cult women’s wrestling show – GLOW. The Netflix series will focus on the actress struggling through the “many highs and lows of the (not so) glamorous world of wrestling.”

Kohan is executive producing while Carly Mensch (Nurse Jackie, Weeds) and Liz Flahive (Nurse Jackie, Homeland) will be writing the pilot.

Kohan got the idea for the new series after watching a GLOW documentary available on Netflix.

Lilian Garcia NOT released. Takes time off for sick father

We have learned via pro wrestling sheet that despite speculation WWE announcer Lilian Garcia has not been released by WWE.

She is however taking time off to spend time with her father who has been battling cancer and who has had complications in the past month.

Sources close to Lilian say her father was having major complications in his battle with cancer and WWE not only approved her emergency leave, but the company has been constantly checking in since.

You can read Lilian’s full statement on the matter here

Imagine my surprise today when I woke up to find out that I was among the top trends in the world on twitter! What for, I said to myself….wait, does that say “Lilian Garcia released from WWE”?? That’s when I knew I had to set the story straight. As you know, I have been absent from TV for the past few weeks missing “WWE Payback” & two “WWE Monday Night Raw’s”. I mentioned on twitter that it was due to a family member being ill. Well, that family member is my father. He has been battling bladder cancer and multiple Myeloma (blood cancer) and due to a reaction to the chemotherapy, he became very ill these past two weeks. On top of that, he had to go into two emergency procedures on his kidneys. To say he has had it tough is an understatement. However, he is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army, being a Veteran from the Korean and Vietnam Wars, so his spirit is that of a fighter. I am so inspired by how he has taken on this disease and continues to battle it with all his might. He has allowed me to share this story as he hopes his journey will inspire anyone else who is battling cancer. Luckily he is doing much better now and gearing up for a new treatment next week. As you can imagine, my entire family has been through a rollercoaster of emotions and cherishing all the time we have with him. I truly believe in the power of prayer and ask all of you to please pray for him and also my mother. They have been married for 62 years, so you can imagine the bond they share together.

I want to thank all of you for the many messages you have tweeted & FB’d me when you thought I had been released. It truly shows me how much I matter to you, and right now more than ever, I needed to know that. Above all, I want to thank the WWE for all their support & love during this hard time. They have been constantly checking in on me and also given me the time I needed to get my father strong again. I feel so proud to work for a company that cares so much.

So, on to Monday, I will be back on RAW and couldn’t be happier as I have missed you all very much!! Thank you and I love you!!!

Xoxo,

Lilian

We here at WNB would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Lilian and her family.

ROH Owners Interested In Purchasing TNA Wrestling?

Source: WrestlingINC

Rumors have been flying for weeks about the possible sale of TNA WrestlingF4WOnline reports that a new development has occurred, which has put the owners of Ring of Honor in play.

Ring of Honor owners Sinclair Broadcasting have also been surrounded in rumors that they’ll be re-branding the Tennis Channel as the American Sports Network. With that, they’ll likely be expanding their sports content, and Ring of Honor could fit well in that programming schedule.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sinclair Broadcasting has shown interest in acquiring TNA. The main attraction as it pertains to TNA for Sinclair is that they have a large tape library, and have international TV deals already in place.

A big hangup on the sale continues to be that Dixie Carter is still hoping to retain majority ownership in the company. There have been negotiations with Aroluxe, but no sale has been completed as of yet.

As of now, the Tennis Channel has clearance in 40-50 million homes nationwide. Recently, Ring of Honor Joe Koff mentioned that there’s a possibility that ROH TV could also expand to two hours of TV time per week.

Breaking news: Samoe Joe defeats Finn Balór becoming the new NXT champion

WWE has reported that Samoe Joe has dethroned the demon Finn Balór end at an NXT live event in Lowell Mass ending his record setting reign of 292 days.

The Now that we have a new NXT champion there’s two main questions. What’s next for the monster in his path of distruction now that he has gold around his waist? And what is next for the former champion Balór?

Our best bet is that the Demon is heading to the main roster. It would definitely keep the momentum Raw has had in the last few weeks going. Perhaps the most obvious scenario would be the inception of the Bullet Club and or Balór club (which ever they decide to call it)

All the pieces are already aligned. Styles is number 1 contender for the WWE world heavyweight title, Gallows and Anderson have made their presence known in the last two weeks, the only thing missing is Finn.

What do you guys think? Will we see a new formation of the Bullet club? Will Balór debut on Raw? Or perhaps Payback? Let us know in the comments below.

The world of professional wrestling reacts to the sudden passing of Chyna

Regardless of what your personal opinions may be on Chyna there is no denying she changed the game for not only women of professional wrestling but men as well.

She was in a league of her own. Last night moving into the early morning of today is a tough one for the wrestling world. It almost doesn’t feel real. Maybe it’s just because being such big Chyna fans we don’t want to accept it.

Right now the number one trend on Twitter is #RIPChyna as it should be. We here at WNB have took it upon ourselves to compile some of those tweets but really each one is a beautiful tribute and we encourage you to look through them:

Perhaps though the most heartbreaking tribute comes from Mick Foley as he took to his Facebook account this morning to pay tribute to his friend saying:

GOODBYE JOANIE

My heart is aching. My eyes are swollen from crying, having just talked to Joan Laurer’s manager Anthony Anzaldo on the phone and been told that Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World was no longer with us; gone at only 45.

I will always be grateful for the friendship I shared with her, but particularly so for the kindness she showed my children, especially Noelle when she was younger. I will never forget those moments where Joanie would take Noelle by the hand at WWE events in the late 90’s – off to have her makeup done, her fingernails painted; bonding time between big, strong Joanie, and her tiny sidekick. A father doesn’t forget that type of kindness.

I didn’t know whether to post a classic photo of Chyna in her WWE prime or of Joanie from the last time I saw her – about 10 months ago at a convention on Long Island. I went with the photo from the convention because of the emotion; because it was taken at the exact moment I saw her for the first time in many years. I was told later that Joanie wasn’t sure how I would react to her, and that it meant a great deal to her to be accepted. Like I said, a father doesn’t forget. I called home on my way back from the convention – only about 40 minutes from my house. “I’m bringing a friend over to watch the pay-per-view” I said to my wife.

“Who’s that?”, my wife asked.

“Chyna”

“Chyna?”

“Yeah, Chyna!”

And that was pretty much that. A mother, you see, doesn’t forget the kindness shown to her child, either.
I am so glad we had that night with Joanie. A night to let her know how much we cared about her, whether it was politically correct or not. A night to let her know we loved her – and always would. RIP my dear friend. I pray that somehow in death, you can find the peace that eluded you so frequently during the latter years of your remarkable life.

As you can see the general consensus is that Joanie (Chyna) was a remarkable person, and she touched the hearts of everyone she knew.  No longer hurting and finally at peace. Long live the 9th wonder of the world

Could Conor McGregor be joining WWE?

It’s been a crazy 72 hours in the world of MMA. Conor McGregor sent out a tweet on Tuesday that read

I’ve decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch y’all later

This sent fellow MMA fighters and fans into an uproar on social media. Many wondered what it meant for the main event at UFC 200? Who would Nate Diaz face?

We still don’t have those answers but according to Dana White Conor has to clear up the retirement comments otherwise the scheduled bout between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will be for the featherweight title.

The notorious one is also making headlines in the world of professional wrestling. For what it’s worth this could mean absolutely nothing but WWE super star and fellow Irish Becky Lynch posted a photo via Instagram  of McGregor wearing her shirt with the  caption #ComejoinMeBro. You can see the post here. https://instagram.com/p/BEZnFPBC_eX/
So what do you think guys, will we see the notorious in WWE? Is he really retired from MMA or is all of this a ploy to generate buzz for UFC 200 in July?

Breaking news: Joan Laurer aka Chyna passes away

ABC 7 reports that Joan Laurer better known for her in ring name Chyna has passed away at 46, her manager George Pennacchio confirms.

Laurer was found dead in her bed at her home in Radando beach. This is a developing story and we’ll report more as it develops.

We here at WNB would like to extend our deepest condolences to chyna’s family friends and fans.

*UPDATE*

I just heard the tragic news that @ChynaJoanLaurer has passed. She was truly a pioneer in our industry, and she will be missed. #RIPChyna

Major Changes Coming To TNA Soon?

Source: WrestlingINC

We’ve noted how TNA continues to meet with potential investors and partners. The company returns to Universal Studios for more TV tapings this coming week and according to F4WOnline, there’s a feeling in the office that whatever happens will happen soon and that there will be changes made.

It was described as a situation where TNA is approaching the 11th hour regarding a new deal with investors. There is said to be one group, which is the favorite to end up with the company, but there is also another party that is still involved but said to be a long shot. The favorites reportedly have two people with TNA, that have wrestling experience, among them.

F4Wonline.com also noted that Dixie Carter is trying to negotiate a deal that will see her keep control of the company but the majority of it will be sold one way or another.
