Jessica Eye vs Leslie Smith set for UFC180

20140926-194303.jpg

The WMMA God’s are trying to kill me, and quite possibly the whole WMMA fan base. It may sound like a negative connotation but THIS is a good thing. Earlier today it was announced that Zingano will be next to face Rousey if she could beat Nunes tomorrow. Dana also said he would like Rousey to have a quick turn around and fight in march as well!

The awesome news doesn’t stop there because its official that when the UFC makes their first appearance in Mexico not only will heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez be defending his title against Fabricio Werdum but we also have an AWESOME women’s batemweight bout.

It’ll be Jessica “Evil” Eye VS Leslie “Peacemaker Smith. Eye is looking for her first official UFC win. In October 13th of last year Eye picked up a split decision win against Sara Kaufman but it was overturned due to Eye’s usage of marijuana. Then in February she suffered a lost to Alexis Davis.

As far as smith goes she is coming off a win over Jessamyn Duke from July. This fight should be a good one. Who’s excited? I know I am 🙂

Can Cat Zingano finally be squaring off against Ronda Rousey?

20140926-140113.jpg

Today yours truly is physically exhausted because I decided to take a trip down memory lane of my childhood and I ended up staying up to nearly 4am watching YouTube videos. However even though my body is physically tired my mind is wide awake with excitement and the headline for this article is why. It was announced today that UFC president Dana White said if Cat Zingano can defeat her opponent Amanda Nunes this Saturday at UFC178 she will indeed be next in line for Ronda Rousey’s Batemweight title.
READ MORE HERE: (http://mmajunkie.com/2014/09/dana-white-cat-zingano-to-receive-ronda-rousey-title-fight-with-ufc-178-victory)

I don’t know about you but I’ve been waiting for this bout for quite sometime. Zingano had an impressive win over Miesha Tate early last year earning her a number 1 contender spot but it was put to a holt after Zingano suffered an ACL injury.

On top of that Zingano faced a tragedy when she lost her husband. Now that the dust is settled Zingano may finally be getting her chance on January 3rd at UFC 182 but 1st she has to defeat Amanda Nunes. Now no disrespect intended to Nunes but I hope Zingano can pull out the win because I’m sure I speak for a lot of fight fans when I say “I really want to see this fight” the question also remains if Nunes wins does that make her #1 contender?

One thing is for sure UFC182 is going to be great regardless because both Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz will be making their octagon returns. With the possibility of Zingano Vs Rousey fight fans will have a filed day.

Dawn of a new day

Hey guys!
Our site is back up. Yay. As many of you may or may not know yesterday on DTRTwrestling’s Sunday Podcast the announcement was made that I (Vanessa) will be taking over complete ownership of the site. What exactly does this mean? It means “DTRTwrestling” is now my soul responsibility. It means that I also will be taking complete control of the social media accounts. My buddies Ed and Trevor have built this site from the ground up and feel that it’s time to move on from the site. They trust me so they have elected me as the new owner. Our contributor John Bass will stay on staff and Ed Boston will continue joining me for our weekly podcast until the end of October.

As far as new things and new direction of the site goes it’ll pretty much revelry the things that are near and drear to my heart. What does that mean you ask? Well here’s your answer. The focal point will indeed be women in the world of pro wrestling and MMA. Rest assured though because the men of those sports will also be getting plenty of love so this isn’t some type of sexist reconstruction. A new name will also be given to the site and the social media accounts (new name TBA)

So guys and gals that may be reading this I hope you will continue to follow this site on the new journey it’s about to embark on. Your support is why I LOVE what I do!
Shout out to Ed and Trevor for trusting me right this it means the world. You guys have become like family to me and I hope you know I truly do mean that! To John thank you for wanting to stick with me.

There you have it guys new things are happening so get excited. Love you all

Big brother 16 contestant gets TNA try out

20140814-134643.jpg

I may not be an avid follower of TNA but I am indeed a avid follower of the reality based completion show Big Brother. Big brother is follows 16 individuals on a weekly basis in where they’re all put under one roof. Each week they have to compete in things such as the “HOH completion” and “power of veto competition” it’s a show where alliances are made & lots of betrayal happens, possibly even some showmance all in the name of winning $50,000.

So why am I talking about a reality tv show on a wrestling site you ask? Well Big brother is currently in its 16 seasons and one of its contestants who got eliminated in the 2nd week Paola “the DJ who loves to party” has had a try out match for TNA. (She can be seen above with fellow TNA worlers)

Again I don’t watch TNA but I think it’s kind of cool that someone I have knowledge of because of a show I enjoy may be joining the company. I just hope she’s there for the right reasons and not just to add a bullet point to her resume cuz I can’t stand when people do that.

Marloes Coenen & Julia Budd sign to Bellator MMA

20140814-095144.jpg

On Monday rumors started circulating that Bellator MMA would be the new home of legendary Gina Carano, since then owner of Bellator Scott Coker has denied that rumor but other sources say it has indeed been in talks. While we wait for those answers however I’m sure this morning’s announcement will hold us over until then. It was announced this morning that the newest members of Bellators 145lb decision are none other then long time WMMA standouts Marloes Coenen & Julia Budd. http://www.bellator.com/articles/bellator-mma-sign-julia-budd-marloes-coenen

I don’t know about you but I think that’s huge and for what it’s worth I think Coker is a smart business man. The UFC’s main women’s division is the 135 division with Bellator focusing on the 145ers Dana white and Scott Coker won’t have to be chopping at the bit for female stars. Further more this indeed puts Bellator right up there in completion with the flagship of MMA that is the “UFC”.

What do you guys think of this announcement, and what 145er would you like to see in Bellator next?
