The DTRT Wrestling Timeline To Wrestlemania XXX

Two weeks from tonight and it will be Wrestlemania XXX and DTRTWrestling.com is going into full-court press mode from now until Mania is in the books for another year. Yes that’s a March Madness reference right here in the middle of talking about The Super Bowl of Professional Wrestling (or Sports Entertainment for those who aren’t old school and prefer to toe the “company” line).

Here is how we plan to show that we are up to the task of taking this site to the next level and being the organization where you can get print coverage, right here on the flagship of the DTRTWrestling.com brand AND online radio coverage at DTRTWrestling.com Radio on Blog Talk Radio.

The following will take place on the radio portion of our organization. You can listen to these shows live or in archive immediately following the live broadcast.

Raw Post-Show – Monday 3/24 at 11:30 eastern; 10:30 central; and 8:30 pacific. A quick 30 minute recap of tomorrow’s Raw.

Raw Post-Show – Monday 3/31 at 11:30 eastern; 10:30 central; and 8:30 pacific. A longer recap as we take a look at the final Raw before Mania. Should be plenty on the agenda that night.

SmackDown Live Coverage – Friday April 4th at 8 eastern; 7 central; and 5 pacific. We will be doing a radio version of live blogging/tweeting for the very first time. Being the last show prior to the 30th anniversary of Wrestlemania, no telling what will happen, and yes we will carry it live (well, live when it’s broadcast).

WWE Hall of Fame Coverage – Live; Saturday April 5th beginnig at 9 eastern; 8 central; and 6 pacific.

Wrestlemania XXX Pre-Show – Sunday April 6th. That is right, we are going right up against The WWE Network and their pre-show. Why you might ask, well as many of you know – not everyone is paying the $9.95 a month and getting the awesome programming, so we want to provide an alternative, and that’s what we will do.

Finally a quick look at the DTRTWrestling.com staff and the different things you can expect from each of us.

John Bass – John does an awesome job with the Raw preview and recap each week. He has also been on top of many announcements and breaking news.

Vanessa V – Vanessa live tweets each week during Raw, does the weekly Total Divas report and is our featured MMA correspondent. She recently got her feet wet with by doing her first live interview with MMA star Shayna Baszler . She will be a big part of the radio broadcast team from now through Wrestlemania XXX.

Trevor is the heart and soul of DTRTWrestling.com. One of the two co-founders of this product, he constantly stays in touch with breaking news, the nuts and bolts of managing an online production, amazing work with audio and graphics, and the list goes on and on.

Ed Boston is the other co-founder of DTRTWrestling.com. He will be the “captain” of our radio team and will continue to share his personal insights all the way up through Wrestlemania XXX.

Please join us as we have a blast bringing coverage of The Super Bowl of Professional Wrestling – Wrestlemania XXX to you. And do us a favor – “like us”, “follow us” and share us with your wrestling friends.

Ed’s Perspective: Wrestlemania XXX Now Has The Chance To Be Monumental Thanks To The #YesMovement

Flash back to January 26th – you know the night well. The 2014 Royal Rumble with the winner going on to headline Wrestlemania XXX. Now picture this soundbite in your mind.

And the winner of the Royal Rumble – BATISTA!!!!

That makes it Randy Orton vs. Batista HEADLINING THE SUPERBOWL OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING?????. No, the cap lock didn’t stick – I was yelling at the preposterous idea of having such a lame match headlining what should be a historic event. I mean this the 30th Anniversary of where PPV Wrestling originated and they are giving us Orton vs Batista???

BryanMovementRaw

Now flash forward to March 10th on RAW. The #YesMovement, along with the most over Superstar in the WWE, Daniel Bryan takes over the ring and surrounding area, and The Authority makes their arrival. Before Bryan hands the show back over to Mr. and Mrs. The Game, he has his Wrestlemania match verse Triple H AND if he wins = the main event that night becomes a Triple Threat Match with Bryan joining Orton and Batista.

There is lots of talk and debate going on over whether or not this was the WWE’s plan all along (to that I’m calling BS) or whether the #YesMovement, meaning the fans, made it impossible for The McMahon’s to ignore there demands.

This part is a certainty, the fans have spoken! The WWE has heard them! And now we have a chance for Wrestlemania XXX to truly be a monumental event. Oh yeah, there’s the other recently added items, ie Hulk Hogan’s return, Taker vs Lesner, The Andre the Giant Battle Royal, and the fantastic Hall of Fame inductees.

However, I have to ask this question. Did giving in to Daniel Bryan make that much difference???

Give me a Hell Yeah!

Ed’s Perspective: Thank You Dixie For Being You and For Going Back to What You Do Best

If you watched this past week’s live broadcast of TNA Impact, you should have noticed something that was missing – Dixie Carter. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Dixie for deciding to do what you do best. What’s that, you might ask? Being the behind the scene’s face of TNA.

Dixie-Carter

With MVP firmly in charge of TNA now that his team defeated Team Dixie at Lockdown last Sunday, Thursday’s show was a huge improvement over the recent past in my opinion. Backstage, I don’t know how much input MVP actually has (in a Busted Open interview he said he has no contract and is working on a handshake and has creative input), but whether it be MVP, TNA Creative Head Dave Lagana, Dixie, or whoever but the pace was fast, the storylines were good and the crowd was hot all night long.

Now back to Dixie. I’m a huge fan of hers. I saved a short Direct Message on Twitter from Dixie that thanked me for a positive comment I sent to her about a show back in July of 2013. I want to see her succeed and I think having more than one major promotion is great for the business, so I want to see TNA succeed.

That said, I think the best way for TNA to move forward is to let Dixie do what she does best and that is behind the scenes and not in the ring (well and backstage since so much of the storyline parts are filmed backstage). Let the wrestlers, do what they do best – let MVP, Lagana and TNA Creative do what they do best (hold them accountable though) – and keep putting out the product you did this past week.

Do that, and those people up in the North East part of the country will have to take notice and when that happens, they have to step up their game. And the domino effect there makes it great for the fans. Don’t believe me? Do a little research on the Monday Night Wars. The fans were the winners in that war.

Ed’s Perspective: Is There Anything Like The Entrance of The Undertaker?

Undertaker

Ok, so I’m watching RAW and live tweeting with our very own Vanessa, but I just wanted to take a second to say that I’ve been watching The Undertaker and his slow methodical walk to the ring for longer than many of our readers have been alive and it still gives me chills.

Ed’s Perspective: WWE Class of 2014 Hall of Fame Makes Me Very Happy!

WWE2k14Warrior

Jake Roberts

Paul Bearer

Lita

Take a look at those 4 pictures. There really isn’t a lot I can write that hasn’t already been said about the current 2014 WWE Hall of Fame inductees. I’m sitting at my computer, looking at these 4 and I can’t find words that do them justice.

Amazing, outstanding, trail-blazer, superstar, diva……… nope, none of them come close.

Fortunately for me, I will be co-hosting a special live show on DTRT Wrestling Radio while I watch the Hall of Fame ceremony live on the WWE Network. I know this, it will be very hard to be Ed the journalist and not Ed the fan.

Ed Does TNA Impact Live Coverage On Wrestling Inc.com

Ed Boston on the mic

Our very own, Ed Boston – co-founder of DTRT Wrestling.com, will be once again doing “TNA Impact Wrestling Results, Live Coverage & Your Feedback” on Wrestling Inc.com tonight.

Here is a link to his coverage from last week.

WWE To NXT Talent – Be Patient

WWE_NXT

From Wrestling Inc.com

WWE NXT talents were told at the recent set of TV tapings that the NXT product would be pushed more significantly now that the WWE Network is up. The talents were told that the company wants to get behind NXT as a pure wrestling product within the WWE. They were also told that while some people may be brought up, like Emma, it’s going to be a slow process and for everyone to be patient with the idea that with the Network, they’ll all be getting lots of exposure even without a call up.

Ed’s Perspective: Here We Go Again – Another Punk Pipebomb

20130311_Video-Still_RAW_punk

Trevor has been all over the breaking news that it CM Punk will be in his hometown of Chicago tomorrow night for RAW. Here is the news: Breaking News: Respected News Source Reporting That CM Punk Will Be At RAW Tomorrow Night and here is Trevor’s prediction: CM Punk Return: Prepare For The Pipebomb.

This last second change comes after he earlier reported based on industry experts: CM Punk Not Expected At Monday’s Raw In His Hometown of Chicago and WWE Aware of Crowd Plans To Hijack This Monday’s Raw.

Each of those links comes from right here on DTRT Wrestling.com and I want to commend Trevor on the thoroughness of his coverage on this topic.

Now my perspective. I SMELL A GOOD OLD FASHIONED WORK has been cookin’ – and I for one am not a bit happy about it.

First of all, look at the Pipebomb of 2011 from Punk:

Now please, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy when a superstar gets the opportunity to blast on things that are on his mind. Hell, even Fox News covered that pipebomb in 2011. Punk said things that you or I might have been saying, but he had a nationally televised platform.

So why am I upset that we can expect another one tomorrow? Well, to me it appears to make Punk seem to be a cry baby and I don’t believe that he is. It appears that every time Punk doesn’t get his way, he walks out – Vince begs him to come back or stay and gives him an open mic as his reward.

Pipebomb 2011 had a purpose.

Pipebomb 2014 smells rotten to me. All the coverage over the last several weeks, and here it’s all going to be resolved just in time for Punk to make his triumphant return in of all places – his hometown of Chicago and shortly before Wrestlemania.

I know that works are a big part of this business, but I hate being made feel like I’m a big sucker – and if this really is a work then I think the WWE has disrespected us fans, manipulated all those people who paid good money for shows and missed seeing Punk for the last several weeks, and tried to make us look like stupid sheep.

And that’s the bottom line – cause …………

Ed’s Perspective: Future of Diva’s Division Looks Bright

Paige

Emma

This past Thursday night, I totally enjoyed my first night of doing live updates on Wrestling Inc.com of TNA’s Impact. There was one major drawback though. I missed seeing live the amazing match on the WWE Network between Diva’s Paige, the NXT Women’s Champion, and Emma. I did however get to watch later – one of the awesome features of having subscribed to the WWE Network.

If this match was any indication, the future of the Diva’s Division looks so bright that we are all gonna need shades (ok that really is a corny music reference, but I couldn’t resist).

Watch the entire match

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1dtr5q_paige-vs-emma-nxt-womens-championship_sport

Both ladies show awesome in ring skills, and their athletic abilities are outstanding. I’m sure some might say they still need a little work, but let’s keep things in perspective. This match, which was of RAW or Smackdown quality, happened in a developmental promotion.

Do a little research, and you will find this about Paige:

Determined to redefine the Divas division in WWE, this fan favorite from England isn’t your “typical” female competitor. This 20-year-old, who hails from a family of professional wrestlers, has already been competing in the ring  for seven years!

Here is a little more about her wrestling heritage when asked about what it was like growing up in a wrestling family, “It was amazing. What better way to learn an amazing craft than from people you love and trust completely? My family had a strong following so I was always in their shadow, which is understandable. But I wanted to make a path of my own and make my family proud in the process!”

Now about Emma.

We have gotten used to seeing Emma’s pretty face on WWE broadcasts and recently saw her in a match with Summer Rae. You’ve got to see the amazing submission maneuver that she used to get Summer Rae to tap out with. If  you don’t want to watch the entire video (you should) you can got to the 1:50 mark and see an just how great the move was.

Between the match with Paige and this finisher on Summer Rae it looks to me that the sky is the limit for this Austrailian born superstar.

As her profile on WWE.com ends, “While it remains to be seen what the future holds for Emma, one thing’s for sure: The #EMMAlution has begun.”

Add to that, the surely eminent call up for Paige based on the release of her own T-shirt on WWE.com, plus the remarks of Stephanie McMahon and fans of women’s wrestling (notice I didn’t say Divas) have a lot to look forward to in the WWE.

Ed’s Perspective: A Great Opportunity

image

This week is huge one for me professionally, and the good news grew even more a couple of days ago.  Raj Giri, President of WrestlingINC.com asked me if I was interested doing live coverage for TV shows on his site.

After very little discussion, we came to agreement that I would do live coverage of Impact each Thursday for WrestlingINC.com. What an honor and privilege to join the largest independently owned wrestling website
in the world and still contribute here at DTRT Wrestling.com.

My hope and desire is that my work on both sites will be beneficial to both organizations, but most of all that it will be enjoyable to you fans of professional wrestling.

A special thanks to my co-founder and managing partner here at DTRT Wrestling.com, Trevor.  Trevor gave the recommendation to Raj that set this ball rolling, and is graciously allowing me to work both places.
